Love there smoked salmon fish and chips. The game burgers was moist and delicious. OMG calamari pesto appetizer was tender and crispy with a great chipotle dip.
The service was attentive at first but after dishes arrived, they were scarce and when we did ask for extra sauce, we had to ask two more times. It's frustrating cuz dishes are getting colder minute by minute.
On Sunday, they had a beer flights special. Â It consisted of 3-6 oz glasses for $3 bucks. Great deal ....but I wish we could pick the three beers, as it was preselected. One bummer was the beer was dropped off without any explanation of which was which.
We'd love to go back but the service is a factor in our decision. I'd love to support them cuz I grew up in Mtn View .
We went here for celebrate my husband's first Fathers' Day. Â I think the new burger place that opened up poached most of the good staff. Â Somehow four different orders were messed up in some way: The rare burger I requested arrived well done, and the jalapeno corn bread was cold and tough. Â Two different orders of fries arrived cold. Â Another fish taco order had three bones and a scale. Â Our friend sent it back and ordered something else. Â
It's such a shame; we remember when this place used to be good.
Went for lunch today - they automatically add an 18% tip for a party of 7 which seems to equal mediocre service. The place was empty and it took a long time to get our food. One of the entrees was cold and after bringing it to our servers attention he "talked to the manager" and took 50% of it off the tab...(50%?????)
Probably won't be going back.. And we have been going there for years. Bottom line the service has gone way down hill
..
A fun place to meet with friends prices are good but the food is your standard american nutrition lacking calorie dense option. I was excited to see that they had sweet potato fries until I tried them. So loaded with oil that I could barely taste the sweet potato. The beers are good but you'll need a nap after eating here.
Review Source:Raspberry wheat beer. tastes like a hefeweizen but not very raspberry-ey. Â
bf got the hef and they were pretty similar.
Garlic fries. Substituted with the burger. YUM!
Buffalo burger with cheddar. pretty good! Huge burger.
Santa fe bbq salad. HUGE salad. over-dressed though.
Great big portions. tasty buffalo burger (was friday special), ok salad, too much dressing. Garlic fries were amaze-balls though! :) Yum.
We came to watch the US qualifying soccer game, as they have BeIn sports channel here.
We came here to meet up with friends for just a pint, but we also needed dinner too.
Sat/Sun - beer special - 3 tasters for $3. What a deal!
We ordered:
- New World Wheat Beer
- 3 for $3 tasters - Mai Bock, Maltopia, El Dorado Single Hop
- Hawaiian Burger and fries - Burger was great! Fries were perfectly cooked and tasty.
- Grilled Sausage Skewers over Rice - Even though this was an appetizer item, it was the perfect size as a meal for one. 3 skewers with different sausages (house-made), zucchini, bell pepper and red onions. This was delicious.
Other beers ordered:
- Raspberry wheat (seasonal)
- Alpine Gold
- Oatmeal Stout
Yum. I would definitely go back.
Went here with a big group of people on a weekday and had the worst service ever. Normally you expect it to take a while with a large crowd but the place was completely empty except for us. The waitress was too busy counting her tips for the night to even bring us our drinks that had been sitting at the bar for over 20 mins. I wouldn't suggest going back to this place. We never even got asked if we wanted a second round of drinks so eventually when we were able to track down our MIA waitress we got our check and went somewhere else.
Review Source:It's slim pickings for good bars in Mountain View, but I think this is one of the better ones. Â It is certainly one of the more popular ones. Â Younger tech crowds are very well represented here, and while the food is nothing to write home about, but it's not bad and it does the job, especially when accompanied by beer. Â Service is also nothing to write home about, but I still like this place. Â Very casual and basic place on smaller street off the main downtown Mountain View Castro Street strip.
Review Source:It's a nice place to meet with friends and drink beer. Â Their food is average. Â Their beers are good and they have their own brews on draft (I hate drinking bottle beers at a restaurant...I can buy it from safeway and drink it at home). Â If you want a place to hang out and drink, this is a nice place.
Review Source:I went to lunch today (Sunday) with a friend, and the beer special was awesome. 3 beers for $3. Since the beers were a flight, we received 3 different 6 oz. beers. It was just enough and totally hit the spot!
The outdoor seating was shaded and comfortable. It helped to make our overall experience relaxing and enjoyable.
Ehh the food was alright but nothing to crave for. Â I had the garlic burger and it was okay. Â The patty wasnt as gourmet as I would have liked and it was cooked well done. Â The garlic spread was good but nothing amazing. Â As OOK place for a group lunch/dinner but the burgers were just OK.
Review Source:On a Sunday, I came here with my friends and they had a special going on where you can do beer tasting... three little different beers for $3. Â And then there were rabbit and different cheeses to try out too. Â On their regular menu, I have ordered the garlic burger which comes with sides and I chose onion rings. Â The food was so fulfilling and good. Â I'd come back again.
Review Source:I had an after work party, in which we found a spot outside. It was a decent spot and the array of beers they hold is pretty impressive as well. The veggie options in food category is pretty limited and standard.
But they serve a wide range of beer, starting from golden ales to dark ones. Some new flavors were also being served as summer special.
In all, a decent outing for After work....
It is an interesting place with loads of things on their menu. Something for every taste, I'm sure. I'd say it is great for parties, it is a rather large place, and they have outdoor seating too. A little quieter and narrower, which works beautifully, since the indoors gets really loud.
I am excited to be trying their menu out further, but for now, the freshness left a good impression.
Bar atmosphere; I would leave the little ones and the pooches behind for this visit. Especially on the busy after-work/lunch hours.
Enjoy!
Good Beer. Â Friendly Staff. Â Delicious Food. Â Tied House never disappointed me.
Tied House serves one of the best Turkey Burger I have ever tasted. Â I also love that instead of choosing between fries or onion rings, you can get half and half at no extra charge! Â
This place might get a little crowded when the Sharks are playing, but service remains pretty much to standard whether they have a packed house or not. Â I have to admit, it's not the fancies place around and dont expect anything more than your average beer hall food. Â But if you are in the mood for some burger + beer, you can't go wrong.
The food choices are excellent, the beer choices are good, and their happy hour and beer tasting specials are incredible; we will definitely be more regular patrons at this establishment.
Here are some things I love about this restaurant:
- Service is pretty great. Our waitress the last few times was pretty outstanding.
- The wild game burger keeps my hubby coming back multiple times in a week; this may be a problem for me soon.
- Their menu options are limited, but what they have is/looks pretty good. I had the veggie burger and it was meh, but I had the fiery chicken sandwich and that was pretty damn delicious.
- The kids meals are KILLER. I got my 2 year old son the kids burger. This had to be a quarter pound burger with like a pound of french fries. The poor kid barely put a dent in his meal and he was stuffed. My daughter L.O.V.E.D her grilled cheese. She's 4 and she said she wanted to eat there every night. Well, keep the beers rolling and mama might just approve that!!
- The outdoor patio is an anomaly these days in breweries. I'm not sure why. The weather is pleasant 9 months out of the year and people love sunshine, no? Anyway, I love the patio!
- Some of the beers are great. I loved their dark ale and the IMP, plus the stout is pretty good. However, most of the ones they have on special are pretty gross. Sometimes I just ignore the beer specials because they steer towards the lager fans (one of which, I am not).
Overall, this place will definitely be a regular escape from the hustle and bustle of parenting when my husband and I have date nights. Additionally, it's a good place to bring the kids too as the kids options are good too. It's not presumptuous like Yard House, but it doesn't have the true beer lovers beer selection. There is lots to work with here, so we'll keep coming back for sure. :)
The perfect place for an after work cantina. I have been going here for 12+ years and have never been disappointed with the food or the experience. The nachos rock. Not sure what the deal is with some of the hater reviews. The place is never empty so many, many folks agree with me and keep coming back.
Review Source:Best place for a beer in Mountain View, hands down. Tasty appys and a decent menu. Â Their Heritage Brewery beers offer a really good variety, but I'll stick with the TH originals. I've been going there for about 18 years and it's solid.
The dog-friendly garden is really nice in the warm weather!
Food recommendations: Nachos (best in town), Buffalo Tenderloins, Santa Fe salad, Brewer's burger
Of all the 'brewery restaurants' Tied House may stand out the least. Â Selection of beers is decent, but uninspired. Â House brews were ok, but none stood out as anything I'd come back for. Â
Service wasn't great. Â Our calamari appetizer was bland and left out too long, and the fries were soft as well. Â Nothing worse than soggy fried food with your beer.
Overall, not horrible, but nothing special. Â
Restaruant manager may want to pay more attention to their service & execution.
Go check out Pockets Sports Grill. Â Just ask around, it's a popular place.
Came here last week for happy hour with the hubby and it was great. We sat outside underneath a heat lamp and it was nice and cozy. We enjoyed too beers and ordered the nachos and sweet potato fries. Both the food and the booze were exactly what we anticipated and I'd come here again for happy hour anytime. Our total was less than $20 including tip. You can't beat that!
Review Source:I was invited to a holiday reward luncheon at the Tied House Brewing Company. Â Being one of the first combined Brew Pubs and restaurants in the valley and having frequented their down town San Jose location prior to many San Jose Shark's games I jumped at the chance to return to their flagship location in Mountain View!
I would up parking in the dirt parking lot across from the front of the building as street parking was scarce.
There was some confusion at the hostes stand as to where my party was going to sit and finally after some back and forth communication as to what reserved table was reserved our company. Once that was sorted out we were given our lunch menus. Since I do not drink and drive sampling the craft brews was out of the question. Being a free lunch (for me) I ordered a salad and the chipoltle hanger steak with vegetables.
I had wonderful meals at the Tied House San Jose location which is now closed and was looking forward to another one. Some of the tougher cuts like hanger and skirt steak if marinated and cooked correctly can really be a real treat. So returning to the flagship location I had my expectations set to 'high.'
My salad arrived and was just OK. It appeared a premix of greens tossed with a premade dressing and not much more. Our server did a good job of keeping our noisy crowd happy as there were very few patrons for lunch that day. When my entrée arrived and carved into it hoping it would be flavorful and worth the trip, but no, it was tough, over charred, and had way over cooked mushy carrots on top. All I could think of was they need Robert Irvine from the Food Channel's Restaurant Impossible to save this  flagship from sinking!
Would not return or recommend.
It was guys night out, time to get the band back together. Â We decided to meet at Tied House for some happy hour to catch up. Â It took about two months to get together, but I was really excited that we were finally able to meet up.
I started with their wheat beer on tap, which had a bit of bite that I wasn't used to. Â It was still very tasty however. Â For my meal, I ordered their bacon, double cheeseburger, which undoubtedly ruined my diet, and also had some qualities of a mid-low quality restaurant burger. Â The fries were soggy and oily, and the BBQ sauce was super sweet. Â Overall, very disappointed with the food here and definitely lower quality and more expensive than other chains.
Service was pretty persistent in offering followup rounds of booze, but it was friendly enough. Â There's an outdoor patio that allows your dog to join you, which is pretty cool too. Â Parking appears to be street only so it's best to roll in on the Caltrain. Â While the beer is pretty good from what I can tell, the food is blech.
Food: 4/10
Service: 7/10
Price: $$
Atmosphere: 7/10
I was pleasantly surprised by this place. The beer selection is excellent. I tried all the IPAs and Doubles on the menu. I needed a ride home!
I ordered a bacon cheeseburger that was excellent. It came with onion strings on it that we're very crispy and a nice touch.
My friend got the California burger. He asked to get it as a turkey burger instead if a hamburger and they didn't have a problem doing that.
I think that is very important- at the end if the day a restaurant should serve you what you want if it is available. I can make good food in my house- I go to a restaurant to get good service, which includes being able to order what I want.
Came here with a party of about 28 ppl. We had a private room in the back patio.
We came mostly for the beer selection, but I had low expectation for the food. The appetizers were a little disappointed. We had sausages, chicken wings, and stuffed mushroom. The one I liked the least was the stuffed mushroom.
However, WOW, I was surprise how delicious the entrees were.
I shared an Ahi Tuna and a Hanger Steak, and they were both delicious. I like the steak better.
Great service, and affordable for a group. I would def come back here.
Meh, its a brew pub. I've been coming here for years and its seeming like its sliding downhill. One of the main reasons I come here is the wild game burger, which is supposed to rotate between buffalo, elk and venison, though it seems to be venison 90% of the time.
On my last visit I got the "paella" .... it was almost a soup and flavorless. I got halfway through it and started to worry about the quality of the seafood to boot. I didn't get sick though, at least. Also, multiple waitstaff were rude the last trip so I've downgraded to 2 stars.
The space has so much promise, but it needs all new staff/food basically.
Came in with a big group in December. Â They warned us ahead of time that they wouldn't split the check ~10 ways, so we all knew to bring cash. Â That was helpful.
I had never been here before, but my friends had. Â Started with their Scotch Ale - it was ok, but not spectacular. Â For dinner I had the venison burger. Â I don't think I had ever had venison before... and it was ok, but nothing amazingly different. Â Had someone fed the burger to me without telling me what it was, I don't think I would have thought it was anything other than beef.
Had their Christmas beer second. Â Normally, I like spiced beers. Â But this was somehow too spiced. Â I felt like I was drinking a Gingerbread Soda, not a beer. Â
Overall: I have high expectations for breweries. Â This didn't really meet those expectations, but was an ok place with reasonable prices (for Mountain View). Â
Food: 4/5
Beer: 2/5
I really liked pork ribs because I was super craving for them.
I am not a good drinker and ordered a wrong beer for me. Next time I want to try a diffrent kind. This place is loud to talk.
For my memo
Actually it was my second time to come here. First time I had salmon burger and it was really good.
I'm really not a fan of this place. Â Parking is terrible. Â The staff is not very friendly. Â The outdoor seating is uncomfortable. Â I could go on.
The only thing I enjoyed about this place was the beer. Â It was too crowded, too loud, and it took forever to get my dinner. Â I ordered the cioppino, which was just so-so. Â I have since learned my lesson and will stick to San Francisco cioppino from now on. Â
They gave us a table that was too small for our party, so it was incredibly difficult for us to eat without hitting each other's elbows or spilling something on the person next to us. Â There are sooooo many better places to go in downtown mountain view.
The negative reviews for this microbrewery are representative of typical Peninsula douchebags who think the world revolves around them. God forbid if their beer glass isn't the optimal temperature or the waiter doesn't bring their food in five seconds. Go get in your BMWS and drive back to your overpaid jobs. The normal working folks are tired of having to listen to you talk shop and be pretentious jerks anyway.
My husband and I have been to this place numerous times. We love beer and usually don't feel like patronizing the endless mediocre Mediterranean or Asian joints that seem encompass our general area. The food and beer/ales/etc at Tied House are solid. Service is excellent. It is clear the staff takes pride in their work. The proof is in the quality of the food and overall experience.
We often share the Brewer's Platter- for twenty bucks you get a huge platter of various meats (ribs and sausages), smoked fish, cheese and bread. Last week I had the "Hawaiian Burger" special and it was damn near orgasmic- a 50/50 bacon/beef patty topped with pineapple and an overeasy egg- YUM. I implore management to make this a regular menu item! The "three for $3" is a weekend deal and a great opportunity to try new varieties- you get three small glasses of different beers. My husband and I like malty dark beer so we usually get the Ironwood Dark. The Ale of the Two Tun is another favorite.
We took our in-laws here last weekend. I was a bit nervous as they hated the restaurant we chose last time they were in town (Steak Out). Fortunately they were very impressed with the food and prices at Tied House. My father-in-law was also happy because there were plenty of screens to watch the 49ers game. Phew!
So, while Tied House may be horrible for my waistline, it is good for the soul and pocketbook. Live long and prosper!
Came here with a bunch of coworkers after an event. Everyone was tired and hungry. It was 9pm and I Â have to say that the waiter was snappy and we got our food pretty quickly.
I ordered the ribs. Half rack. My buddy ordered the whole rack. I know ribs and portions aren't an exact science, but both halves of my friends ribs were considerably larger than the measly half rack I Â ordered. Â It was a little disappointing.
Bigger issue, though...the citra IPA was served both warm and flat. In fact the glass was warm. Major disappointment. Â I love IPAs, too bad the hot glass wore out a potentially decent beer.
Overall, the ambiance is great if you're cool with the loud crowd. No issues for us. The food was alright. Beer could have been handled a little bit better. Â Seems as though I am not the only one who has complained about this.
Never the less, I'd still go back. I like the atmosphere here.
Mediocre food. Hot beer glasses... Really? Â A brewery that hands you dishwasher hot glasses for your cold beer? Â Not a business that cares about their beers.
They are advertising on their front door and bathrooms that they have $1 half pints on Thursdays at 8. Â When we asked about it we were told it didn't start until 9 despite the fact that it is advertised as 8pm on at least three places in the restaurant.
We asked to talk to the manager. Â And this is why the restaurant gets a 1 star review. The manager showed up at the table with his emo glasses and his sleeves rolled up to display his flamed forearms tattoos. All of that is fine and dandy, the lame glasses don't bother me a bit. . What isn't cool, is that he shows up, leans on the table, and asks in his cockiest tone, "what is the problem?". Wow. What a $&@%! Â
After asking him about their advertised special... He proceeds to tell us that this promo has been changed to 9pm and that the false advertising has been going on since February. He seemed to be bragging about the fact that the ads on the front door and bathrooms were not accurate. He wasn't willing to honor the ads and had an attitude that said he clearly could care less.
In the end... The food was ok, beer was warm, and the service was cold.
Eek! Methinks not. That gets it righ
While Tied House tries to serve impeccably tasting food at reasonable prices, they unfortunately dropped the ball on my recent visit. I was really busy and needed a quick meal before the air conditioning technician arrived at my house and I knew that the turkey burger would cook quickly and taste great! :)
However, it took an extended amount of time to get my food, the server was inattentive, and also the staff did not seem to care about my overall experience. When the server arrived, I found the sauce on the burger to be overwhelming and the French fries were saturated to their core with "old tasting" oil. Unfortunately, I left feeling bloated and ended up being late for my appointment.
After I got home, the meal didn't sit well and I was confined to the watercloset for the rest of my day. I don't think I'll be returning here anytime soon.
We ended up here as a third choice trying to watch the Monday Night football game the same night as game 7 of the National League championship series.
First of all, our mission was doomed to fail.
Second of all, go Giants!
The food here was well beyond your standard pub.. The veggie burger was a delicious highlight... very hearty and healthy-tasting. Â And their beers are atypical and delicious. Â We loved their Amber Ale as well as the Scotch Ale on the menu. Â And our waitress Rachel was fantastic! She was quick, helpful, and friendly.
This is in high contrast to the hostess that evening, who snapped at me to "Take a look around-- can't you see that we're busy?" when I told her we'd really like to be able to see a tv after she asked if a booth would be ok.
We'll be back, but will definitely restrict our dealings with the hostess as much as possible... After that encounter, we were sure we wouldn't enjoy our evening, but thanks to the food, the beer, the waitstaff, and the solid trouncing of the Cardinals, we really did!
**Edit: I've updated my review to five stars-- the hostess wrote me and personally apologized. Â So nice and unexpected, definitely above and beyond what I'd expect at all!**
