I used to go to TJs quite a bit, in spite of the cigarette smoke and stale smell.  Food and service have been going downhill, and what may be my last night there was no exception. The food was mediocre at best. I had the fish tacos, which were three tortillas full of some glop that was barely identifiable as fish. I can take bad bar food, but service is another matter. The bar service was the worst it's ever been. The two bartenders were much more interested in flirting with the men at the other end of the bar, who may have been regulars, than they were in serving their customers.  I had to wave at them every time I needed something, including my check.  You'd think bartenders would be a little more interested in at least keeping the drink glasses full, if for nothing else but to jack up the bill and their tips.  However, this bar team couldn't have cared less about anything other than checking themselves out in the bar mirror every time they passed by it. And no, the place wasn't busy - the bar was pretty full, but there were only a handful of customers in the main dining area.  Indifferent, contemptuous servers - i think not.  I can get that anywhere in Atlanta, minus the disgusting cigarette smell.  I won't be going back to TJs for awhile - used to be a pretty fun place, but it's not worth the rotten service.

Been going here for years and feel like I've grown up in the place. Every server remembers me even if I don't visit for 6 months. Food is really delicious and very well priced. Although others complain about the smoke, they are making an obvious effort to make it better. The fact that a family owned and run business has been so successful makes me think they're doing something right. I recommend this place to anyone looking to have a wild time on a Saturday night, Packers fans, or any family hoping to grab a bite before their movie.

Gross.  Not sure how they get away with allowing smoking but is is gross.  If you are not a regular the staff does not care about you.  Go to Taco Mac or Hooligans.  The food and service is much better and you can enjoy your meal without some rude regular smoking right next to you..

Team Trivia on Friday.  Just happened into this place, because my movie at Studio Movie Grill was sold out.  So glad we did.  The food was tasty, the trivia was fun and the service was good.

A good place to go if you just want to get out without doing something too expensive or fancy smancy.

    Classic neighborhood watering hole.

When someone walks into TJ's he is transported back in time... mostly because the decor hasn't changed since the 90s! I, personally love this place. Been coming here for a decade or so. The girls at the bar are friendly, remember you and treat you like you've been there before; in today's Applebees-infested world of chain restaurants that means something. They have lots of beer on tap and all the usual liquor selections.

I've pretty much only ever had wings at TJs but that is why I go there. The wings are excellent. Yes, it smells like smoke and yes, you will too if yuo go there. But, I almost feel like the smoke adds to the ambiance. Basically, TJs is a great place to go with the guys, have a few beers, watch a game or hang out on trivia night, etc...

It's a bar atmosphere... that being said, service off busy hours suck. Last time I got something I called in to pick up and it took about 20 minutes to just be able to talk to somone that worked there. I will say their lemon pepper wings are my favorite and generally all I get there. I hate that if you end up getting one of their specials that you are supposed toe at there that you can't take any leftovers home... yes they didn't let me take extra wings home.

This place sucks! maybe I am too picky but what bar does not have Bud Light on draft, WTF!  The bathrooms are old and dank and need some major improvement and if you are not a regular forget about good service. This place has been open for many years but I do not see how.

Be careful at this place and its parking lot. A close female friend was abducted from their parking lot and assaulted.

I am so upset I even have to update this review, but after several horrible experiences I just feel like I have to do it.

Since TJ's rolled out their new menu last month, it's been nothing but trouble.  It seems like their waitstaff is constantly new, and they don't know what they are doing.  The kitchen is slow, even when it's not busy, and the management is at an all time low and doesn't even care about the customers.

I would come here every week for Friday night trivia, and now I will not go back.  I have tried to speak with management about issues while there (like waiting 55 minutes for a plain HOUSE SALAD), and they don't care.  With that kind of attitude they are going to lose customers and business.  Good riddance.

Best bar staff around!!! Food is good to boot.  Bar is fully equipped, and the pours are great for the price.

Don't bother. Really can't write a review because sat at the bar for ten minutes and not an employee insight. So left.

We went here the other night after seeing them on Scoutmob and weren't expecting much. Well, I will definitely return again! The wings were outstanding! I'm very picky about my wings because I've had the very best in the world at Fast Eddie's in Canton. I'm happy to say that I can also have amazing wings right in Alpharetta, GA! The rest of our food was superb and the service was top notch. If you're pregnant or going with kids, sit at their outside patio, though, because the inside does allow smoking.  Other than that, great food and service, I was very pleased. We sat on the patio and really enjoyed it.

I have been a patron at TJ's for nearly 20 years.  TJ's was a great neighborhood sports bar/grill off of Holcomb Bridge in Roswell.  The food had always been better than most bars.  The potato skins are awesome.

The interior is kind of dated and needs to be refreshed.  They really need to do some work on the inside.  The bathrooms are disgusting.  Flush with your foot disgusting.

I have had good and bad experiences here. The first time I went, I thought it was a pretty cool chill place. The second time I had a server that legally should be required to wear a helmet. We never saw her and when we did and asked her a question, she would just stare at us. I asked for the bill to be split three ways and she said she wasn't sure she could do it with the Two for Tuesday special. Ok.... what is the Two for Tuesday deal? It was never told to us at any time! So I told her whatever was easiest. She brings me back the bill, unsplit, and points out to me she could take off one of our entrees for the Two for Tuesday deal if I want. Ok... What the F*** is the Two for Tuesay deal and why didn't you go ahead and take it off? Why would I want to pay an extra $8? She finally explains the deal and every other deal they have every day of the week. Please god. Just take the $8 off so I can leave! The food was okay. You can't really mess up a burger but apparently you can mess up a chicken sandwich. The chicken was DRY and puny and the bread they served it was on was a pathetic thin Foccacia. We had some kind of blue cheese chips appetizer which would have been better without the 5 lbs of scallions (good thing my hunny was out of town that night or I might have tear gassed him to death with my breath!). It had a weird old grease taste to it. I think they needed to change out their fryer oil. Overall, i would probably go back to have drinks before a movie but I think I'll skip the food and just sit at the bar!

Great neighborhood bar with above average food! I have found the service to be friendly but not efficient!

Some people are put off by the smoke.  They have a nonsmoking section but it is one big room- kind of like having a non-peeing section in a pool.

Thursday night bingo is incredibly annoying!  The announcer is loud and goes on forever making it hard to have a conversation.  And the whole idea is so lame that they try to jazz it up by changing the number pattern to qualify as a bingo!

    Good beer selection on tap!

This is a bar, not a restaurant. That's a compliment. The only place to watch the Packers in Atlanta.  A very good burger (certified angus beef), a good bacon wrapped angus sirloin, and some of the best bar nachos around. Drinks are free poured and potent. 420 and Guinness on draft.  Smokey in the bar and pool areas.

I got sampler (wings, potato skins, c. fingers) and a steak. Potato skins and chicken fingers are ok, the steak is a cheap quality steak, the wings are good, taste the same as the "23 wings and grill" of the Buford hwy and "I Love Wings" of the Old Norcross rd, Lawrenceville.

I went there on Friday night around 11pm and none at the host table, so we just chose any table. this place is very very smokey and almost no waiters around, there are 3 waiters that come and go from our table -not organized-, they're nice but I prefer not to wait 10 minutes just to get my bill, and no body in the front register since we came. Didn't know how long my food stayed in the kitchen before they 're brought to my table.

Will I come back? most likely not.

T.J.'s is one of the smokiest establishments in Atlanta; the food is on par; and the service is below par.  But for some weird reason, I love coming here.  Even though it's smoky and the crowd ranges from smug, rich a-holes to loser high school dropouts in their late-20s to late-30s, the place just always gives off a good vibe and I always have a great time.  The big thing is trivia on Fridays.  One of the hardest trivias in Atlanta (none will ever top Manuel's Tavern in Virginia-Highland on Sundays, though), it offers cash money to the top three teams: $100 for first, $50 for second, $25 for third, which is the only place I've ever heard of that gives cash instead of restaurant credit.  Lots of televisions with whatever game you want to watch definitely on one of them.

I went on a Sunday to watch the Packers game. It's a Packers bar so it was super crowded and super fun! Everyone touchdown there was a celebration. There was no smoking allowed so I found it to be comfortable. The tv set up is not the best. The tv's are up high and can be hard to see. There arent as many tv's as a taco mac or hudson grille so it can be harder to get your games on tv's you can see. If you are there for the Packers game only then that shouldnt be an issue.

Prices are great. Yuengling pitcher- 8.95. 20 wings around $15. I had a groupon so that made it an even better deal! And the buffalo wings were pretty good, decent size and flavor. The waitress even brought by a sample or buffalo sauce when I ordered so I could decide if I wanted hot or medium.

Good Service. Good Food. Good Prices. Wish it were closer to the city...but I will definitely be back!

It is what it is and as sports bars go this one is great.  A bit smokey, lots of televisions, not so crazy loud so you can talk without yelling.  Excellent wings, great service.

I am not a fan of smokey places, but when I go for lunch, it is pretty clear.  Staff is very nice and food is always fresh.  The fried green beans are the best!!!!!  Much better than the Derby on Nesbitt Ferry!!!!

Smokey bar with lots of room to move.  It's an okay place to go after work, or before a movie.  I've been there for football games and happy hour after work.  The service is okay, but they don't necessarily pride themselves on customer service.  The food is also, okay, it's bar food.  Not good or bad, just regular bar food.

The last time I was there for dinner we had a large group and sat in the back and had a very friendly waitress that we hardly ever saw.  Drinks were empty and it took a while to get our check.  An older man (manager/sowner?) kept coming in to say hi, and took drink orders, but they were usually come not exactly as we had ordered them.

Nothing to keep us away, but nothing to write home about.

Maybe some people would enjoy this atmosphere, but I'm not one of them. Our server was sweet, but that's the only perk of this place.

Typical sports bar...television screens posted everywhere and 2 pool tables situated in the back. Negative part? SMOKE EVERYWHERE. Heck, the waitress (not ours thankfully) was taking her smoke break right next to our table. Gross.

Will steer clear from secondhand smoke and NOT go here anymore. But, if you're a fan of this type of environment then by all means.

Draft beer is about $5.50 for a newcastle and $5.75 for a blue moon.

This is pretty much your standard dive bar, but in a good way.  I was just in there yesterday watching the braves game.  I drank about 5 beers and split a plate of fish tacos and my tab was $33 with tip.  Not too bad.  I probably wouldnt order them in the future, but it wasnt my selection to begin with.

The bartender was very attentive and I never even had to think about asking for a refill.  If you're watching a game, they have a nice big screen behind the bar and another in the dining area.  Smaller screens all around showing the other games.  They dig the braves during the baseball season, but switch over to the Packers for NFL.  We just played a bit of pool and watched the game.

The only thing I hate about playing pool in a bar are the douche bags that hover around the table judging your shots.  We were just playing for fun and weren't being competetive.  This guy yesterday was like "Give me that, I'll show you how to make that".  Give me a break.  But you find those guys at every bar.

The thing I liked (a lot of others may not) is that you can smoke in this bar.  As a smoker, it's great being able to down your pint while having a cigarette and playing a game of pool.  My buddy's wife wont even come in the place because smoke bothers her.  So keep that in mind if you're deciding to drink/eat here.  Dont drink in there if you're going to act like a pussy.

The last time I was in it was during trivia.  Which seemed pretty cool.  The questions werent too hard and they give your team cash money if you win.  We just ate and had a beer, I got the patty melt which was actually very good.

I'll definitely come back to watch a braves game and have a few beers.  This is a good spot for just that.

Food was forgettable, place was very crowded for trivia and the waitress was overworked and was absent for long, long periods because she had too many tables to take care of. I never got a refill on my drink and I almost couldn't find her to pay when I wanted to leave

    "The long and winding road..."

I've been coming to TJ's since I was in high school.  Me and an ever shifting pack of 4-12 kids would roll up on Wednesday night, with the music still blaring out of my '94 Cougar (the Wednesday night line-up on Album 88 was legendary in the early 00's).  We'd come in, take over one of the long tables, flex our SAT scores and generally we'd win 3rd place or something.  Eventually our underage presence was not so welcome, we stopped coming, and I hurled innumerable invective at TJ's management.

I came back a year ago and found it to be the most depressing bar in the world.  Radio stuck on 90's power/rock/ballads and the clientele and staff as glazed over as a Krispy Kreme. How often do you say to yourself, "Uh, we should have gone to The Derby," yeah it was that bad.

Round comes last night, we crew'd up to TJs as some friends have moved into the apartments around there.  The restaurant's not really moving, but the bar area is pretty hoppin and it's thirsty thursday after all.

Me n the boys have a good old time.  Since when did they start drinking so many Jager bombs?  Sice when did TJ's stay open til 2:30 (or later, that's when I left)?  Why is this girl talking to me about my sweater?

A shot of whisky is pricey at $5.45, and a 9 dollar pitcher isn't that cool either.  A friendly staff and patrons who are ripe for under-the-radar social experiments on just keep me coming back though.

    DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE.

I've been to this place a few times over the years and liked it. It was always the last stop of the night when all the other places were closed, but they aren't open until 4 am anymore. It's a really fun place to watch football just as long as you want to watch a green bay game. I returned last night after not having been in awhile and i must say, I was impressed. They were out of quite a few liquors, but I'm a bartender and understand that this happens from time to time. My friend and I ordered the toasted ravioli, which was delicious. The best toasted ravioli I have had, nice and toasty without being tough and very cheesy. My friend ordered the portobello mushroom sandwich with fries and it was awesome. Very flavorful without overwhelming the mushroom. I ordered the bacon wrapped sirloin with loaded baker and fried green beans. It was surprisingly good. I couldn't eat all of it because you def get your $16 bucks work out of that plate. The steak was perfectly cooked and had an awesome char on the outside. The bartenders were nice and even switched the game to the tv we could see better.  To top it all off, we got a discount for "being in the bizz" as it said on our receipt. Can't beat that!

The food is actually good. Gasp. It has the look of wanna be dive bar in the burbs, but I see alot of different people eating here, and generally the bar area is always full. They have a few pool tables, and some games like Golden Tee and such. Very large dining room area, so I can imagine this place is outrageously loud come game time, especially Packers, cause they claim to be the home of the Packers here. Alot of tvs, but be prepared, cause the servers will take their time, causing dinner to run longer then you want to be it. I also know the cops love this place. Be careful.

Ah, second-hand smoke. I got my share of it Saturday night. It reminds me of the days before indoor smoking bans. Oh, wait. I thought bars couldn't allow smoking indoors now. wtf? Somehow TJ's lets you smoke inside. If that bothers you, be warned. Or maybe you have a penchant for cancer sticks and this kind of thing appeals to you. Nevertheless, TJ's has more smoke than a Las Vegas casino.

I took a buddy here for poker night over the weekend. They have a pretty big game. Had a good time. I'll spare you my bad beat story.

Overall TJ's is a cool sports bar. It is pretty big inside, tons of TVs, a few pool tables and other games. I like how they managed bar tabs. You get a sticker with your name and number to wear on your shirt. Any employee can hook you up with another round just by looking at your number. It is easy, and dangerous. The drinks flowed.

I didn't try any food, so I can't comment there. The atmosphere is fun, considering the location in the burbs. The smoke is a pain, but I'd still come back.

Wonderful service but the place needs updating badly. Also if you are a non-smoker you'll want to be aware smoking is permitted inside.

Excellent as a sports bar. Burger is much better than average but there is no void. Wings decent.  Rest of the menu is okay for a sports bar. Beer selection is typical sports bar. All in all, great place to watch a lot of games and drink beer. Good, but not great sports bar food.

Staff is great.  Food is consistent and pretty good - but a little overpriced.  Stay away from the owner's wife and don't ask about getting your team's game on the big screen - even if the place is empty.  Beeee atch.
Unless you've got a group commited to the "privilege" of having a place to meet (Packers, FSU...?)  don't bother stopping by on a football Saturday nor Sunday.  There are plenty of better / cheaper / friendlier places to watch the sports YOU want to see.

Being that I just moved to Georgia this past March and am a die-hard Packer fan, I've been asking around to see if anyone knew of any good places to catch a Packer game. A client recommended I check out TJ's and being that I live in Sandy Springs, this place is only 20 min OTP off of 400. My first visit to TJ's was today and I was quite impressed.

I got there about 15 min before kickoff and the place was fairly crowed with fellow cheeseheads. There were a lot of TV's and the place is pretty big. When the Packers score, they play the Wisconsin Badgers fight song and the crowd joins in the chanting. Mixed drinks are $6.25, draft beer $4. I ordered the nachos and they brought me this heaping plateful of food. They serve typical bar food - salads, wraps, burgers, and a wide selection of appetizers.

The waitress was friendly and stopped by to check on us often. Although nothing compares to watching a game back home in Green Bay, this is probably the next best thing. I will definitely be back again for the next Packer game!

If you like Sports and live on the Northside, I'd be hard-pressed to recommend someplace more than I would this place. TJ's has dozens of TVs all with various games playing, plus two very large screens for the major games of the day.

Trivia is definitely a big thing here, they have games on Wednesday and Friday nights at 830 which draw bigger crowds than I have seen anywhere else I've played Trivia (and that's a lot of places)  They also have a Texas Hold'em night.

The food is fairly decent, not great, but as far as bar food goes, its above average.

TJ's stays open till 4am, though I have never stayed after trivia lets out around 11, so can't comment on the late-late night scene there.

My first time at TJ's was at the recommendation of a friend who told me that it was one of my only non-Waffle House options for late night food while visiting him in the suburbs. While the food was a step up from Waffle House, the scene felt pretty similar: lots of folks downing the last beers of a late night or trying to offset how many they'd already had with some wings and fries.

I've been back to TJ's a few times since then to play trivia or watch a football game. The place has tons of TV's, and the crowd gets pretty into whatever the big game of the day happens to be. Trivia draws a good crowd, if you want a competitive game with lots of teams, TJ's ranks up there with Frankie's at the Prado with me.

TJ's draws a lot of locals...which makes sense in that it's way the heck out OTP. Not a lot of in-towners are going to make the trek to Alpharetta to watch a game, which is why my visits are pretty sporadic at best. However, TJ's is definitely worth a stop if you want to catch some sports in a comfortable environment and you're going to be in the 'burbs.
