Review Source:Consistently good - both food and service.
Decor is pleasant, and you can dine in one of three areas inside. The bar area, the open dining room or the more rustic area in back.
Bread was fresh and warm, served with tasty olive oil. My pappardelle with peas, crispy pancetta and sundried tomatoes was very good and a decent sized portion. This is a go-to spot for me fir business meetings without having to hassle with White Plains traffic
Hmm, I have only been there once. Their atmosphere is great, casual but a little reminiscent of "Old-Time Italy". The appetizer I got, I believe it was a vegetable tart or something along those lines, was really good and very pleasing to the eyes. I ordered scallops as my entree. It was...all right. It wasn't mind-blowing. Something was off about the food because soon after, I felt nauseous. The service was nothing to write home about. They have plenty of parking which is always a plus for me. I am not sure I would return though.
Review Source:Excellent authentic italian place to eat. You will not get much better here. The service is outstanding as is the food. This is a must stop if you're in the area. I live over two hours from the place; however, whenever I am close I stop. Franco behind the bar is what I envision a professional bartender to be...friendly, knowledgable, engaging, well dressed.
Review Source:Dinner with associates, the food was fantastic. The service here robs a star, but it was only slightly off for the NY area.
It's a very quiet and elegant setting. I had scallops and they were top notch, it was a 5star dish! Â
This is a local favorite for one friend who steered us in to Tramonto. I do recommend.
Food NEVER disappoints. I've been coming here for years, and I have always loved my meal. My family and friends always talk about how great the food was when we leave.
The inside is quaint. The waitstaff is very prompt, polite, accomodating, and impressive. I can't say enough things about their food/drinks and waitstaff.
My only complaint, and why I rated 4 stars, is the host. Every single time, without fail, when we walk in, we say the number in our party, and we will be asked if we have a reservation. We say "no" (because we always go at geriatric hour) which is returned with this look of annoyance. They will try to figure out what table they can park us at, while we look around the room seeing nothing but empty tables. As with every visit, we ask if we needed one, and get told we really should. I respect the concept of reservations, but it's ridiculously early every time we go. There are always plenty of empty tables by the time we leave. One time we said we didn't have a reservation, we left, walked outside, called for a reservation and walked back in. She didn't find that very humorous. Oh well ... it's a long running family joke now.
Yet, we continue to dine here - the food is just wonderful.
I had enjoyed a farewell work meal here in December of 2007 and although it's been quite a while, I still remember the meal quite well. We had gone for lunch and it was a cold early Winter's day. The service was exquisite and I had enjoyed a popular special of the day - a vegetable lasagna that was hearty, creamy but not too heavy. Very flavorful. The coffee was delicious too - almost tasted like it was brewed from a french press. It has a very cozy and warm feel as well - not something you expect from a restaurant basically sitting on the Saw Mill Parkway. A great stop - if you're ever in the area or if you have to make an extended trip to New York Medical College or Westchester Medical Center, go here and don't get sick on the nasty hospital food !! :)
Review Source:What a pleasant surprise. Attractive interior, good service, and very good food. The Mafaldine Pasta (Skirt Steak, Gorgonzola, Scallions, Parsley, Grape Tomato, Garlic, Extra Virgin Olive Oil - $22) was "al dentissimo" to perfection, and such an unusual and delicious mix of flavors. Prices are reasonable and service was just right (small gripe - no one offered a coffee refill). I plan to return.
Review Source:I can't say enough positive things about Tramonto. Â My girlfriend and I spent New Year's Eve in Hawthorne (we wanted something quaint and remote) and Tramonto was right across the street. Â I can be a picky eater and had verified ahead of time that they had things I'd eat. Â We called before heading across the street and they were able to squeeze us in despite our having no reservation. Â Imagine how mortified I was when those few "plain" dishes I would eat weren't on the menu because they had a special "New Year's" menu! Â Horrifying!!! ;) Â
Thankfully, the hostess/owner was not only accommodating, but also understanding, stating, "My husband's the same way as you - he wants what he knows!" Â I got probably the best chicken parmigiana I've ever had (and I've had a lot of it), not to mention it was a custom-order on New Year's, which cost less than my gf's salad despite its being a custom-order - And her meal was great too (and big enough for leftovers later on that night!) Â All in all a great place - wonderful food, wonderful atmosphere, and incredibly helpful, kind, and understanding staff. Â I can't recommend enough.
Ok, I too was staying at the great comfort inn across the street just last weekend. The only other choices in the area were applebee's and the Executive Diner. So Tramonto it was. We were warmly welcomed to this warm and homey restaurant.
Not being familiar with the restaurant at all, I looked for guidance from my server as to what the best dishes were. He seemed to like everything....so that didnt really give me any help. However, he did recommend a local beer that was might delish.
We ordered the lamb dish with sweet potato polenta and scallops with tomato risotto. The lamb was fantastic. Perfectly cooked, juicy - on the bone...the sweet potato polenta was a nice surprise - who would have thought to combine the two? It was a tad sweet, but not so much as to undermine the tangy sauce of the lamb dish.
I was not so happy with the scallops and tomato risotto. The scallops missed a good solid sear and the risotto - although perfectly cooked was blah in terms of flavor. It cried for something else like perhaps mushrooms or basil - or perhaps even more salt. Underseasoned at best, bland at worst. I was disappointed.
I did also taste the pizza which being baked in a wood fired oven was also delish.
I'm giving this spot a sort of recommendation for atmosphere, and even prompt and attentive service - but keeping at 3 stars for an uneven dinner.
One of the friendly concierges at the Comfort Inn across the street recommended this restaurant to me. His exact words were, "You have an interview tomorrow morning with NYMC?? Then YOU need to eat at Tramonto!" Being a NY small-town newbie, I was sold on the spot.
From the outside, Tramonto looked more like a large one-story house than a restaurant, but on the inside, it unmistakably carried the setting of a privately-owned bar/restaurant. There was 2-3 separate dining areas, containing fully stocked bars. The service was quick and friendly. I ordered a salad and the grilled salmon, which were both delicious from what I can remember. The prices were a bit steep, but the portion sizes were generous, so in a way, I felt I was getting my money's worth. I was actually able to split my dish into two meals, and the salmon made for good leftovers!
I recommend this restaurant to anyone who is visiting from out of town. I did not have the pleasure of trying the wine, as I was fully focused on that interview, but I remember them having a good wine selection.
