I've come here a few times and tried different things and have never been impressed.  Their burgers never have much flavor and are always overcooked and dry.  Also, apparently they put breadcrumbs in their meat, so it's a meatloaf on a bun.  Not a burger.  I also enjoyed their variety of toppings, but you better pile them on so you can have a decent burger!  Also, I understand they offer gluten free buns, but I like my burger without a bun.  However, when I try to order a gluten free burger without a bun, they never understand.  So, I usually get sick here.  Because of this, I'll never eat here again.  However, I really did enjoy their spicy ketchup and variety of sauces.

I wouldn't go here for an overpriced burger with little flavor.  Definitely avoid Twisted Root if you are not gluten intolerant/celiac

Best burger experience in a long time! I only wish my husband were here. He's a burger fanatic and would be in heaven. Everything they fry is absolutely amazing. Especially loved the green beans and chewy sweet potatoes. It's a LOT of food, so come hungry or share.

Got a root beer float and she handed me two cups - one half full of ice cream and another so that, as she said, I wouldn't have to keep getting up to get more root beer. Oh, yeah!

The staff was friendly, the service fast and the decor kitschy and kind of fun. If I'm ever in the area with my hubby, I will definitely take him there (mainly so he could finish my fried stuff - had to toss about 2/3 of it because I couldn't eat it all and TSA had a cow.)

Excellent burger. Good root beer. Liked the bread and butter pickles a lot. Would definitely go back.

I have been here twice, both times the food has been amazing. I ordered the ranch hand with onion strings. The onion strings here are the best I've had. Also they use fun ways to call your order. It was a blast. The prices here are also very reasonable. As a student at UTA I'll definitely be visiting this place more often.

While this location doesn't have the same charm as the deep ellum location its still pretty cool.

Always a solid burger here and its a great place to bring people visiting from out of town for something quick and cheap.

The most interesting thing about this twisted is the converted airstream bar, I def dig that! Theyre happy hour prices are pretty decent.

If you havent tried the lost mexican with bacon you are missing out!

I love the atmosphere this place has, My boyfriend and I went to go check this place out after a long day, I ordered The Western with chipotle sauce on it, I personally like spicy food and this burger had a great kick to it, my nose was definitely running. The meat wasn't over cooked it was all around a  good juicy burger..the only con I have is the bun, I don't know if they toast their buns but I like mine toasted, towards the end of the burger thought it gets sloppy. It is a bit over priced I think. We got 2 burger meals a fountain drink and a milkshake which was awesome for $32 bucks.Oh and they have a pickle bar which is awesome, I tried all of em'. All around good food though, I'd come back if I had the cash for it but there are better places right down the road that have better burgers at better prices.

Newer to the mid-Arlington scene is fast-casual burger join Twisted Root.
I had a mushroom burger and a banana-pudding milkshake and it was all fantastic.  The burgers are freshly-ground and I haven't had many that were as juicy as this.
The decor is very interesting.  Kind of like a cross between a trailer-park, a Nascar event and a swamp-side campground.  It's very FUN!

The location is fantastic.  It's next to Freebirds, North of Capital Bar and attached to an Irish Pub.  You could spend an evening in this area and meet all your libatious (not sure if that's a word) desires .

Negatives - price.  it's pricey.  Probably because of the prices.
It's counter-service and it's not fast.  I'm not bothered by this as I'd rather wait and know that my food was cooked to order.  Some folks are turned off however by having to wait.

I don't really like this place.  I was not feeling their vibe at all in terms of interior decorating.  Also, the dining area was partially open, which basically welcomed flies into it due to the food and open trash bins. They take your order and they give you a card with a nickname on it (Sonny & Cher, Lady Gaga, Pony Boy, etc.).  You sit down and wait for your order to be called and you go to pick it up.  I got the feeling that they really wanted you to tip because I saw at least 2 signs suggesting me to do so.  I mean, I order at the front and pick it up myself...that's like McDonald's kinda service yanno?

Anyway, when we sat down and tried their pickles.  It is a self serve station and they have 5 different types of pickles: regular, bread and butter (ok), atomic (really hot!), wasabi (meh), and sweet and spicy (the best one).  This was the highlight of the meal. Their lemonade tastes like pineapples, almost borderline pina coloda.  Because the water and lemonade share the same spout, the water ends up tasting like pineapples, which I really didn't like.  They have wacky sauces which I thought were pleasant.  For example, instead of regular ketchup they have ancho? flavored ketchup and so on.  Of course, if you don't like those, they have heinz ketchup and the regular condiments on the table too.

I had the Bacon Bomb Burger which consisted of 2 strips (they gave me 3 though) of bacon and bleu cheese.  They actually follow through and cook their burgers medium rare unlike the other places which say they do but end up giving you medium well-well done.  Why don't you season your burgers Twisted Root?! Why?! It was so bland and the thickness of the burger only made it worse.  They have salt and pepper on the table for you to season it, but shouldn't a good burger joint already season their burgers to perfection?  They probably think that the saltiness of the toppings will makeup for the lack of seasoning on the burger.  But "well seasoned + bland = bland". (courtesy Tom Colicchio).  Found a strip of parchment paper attached to my patty. GREAT.  How could the cook not see that? The paper is brown, the patty was pink when you put it on the flattop.  Also they either need to get a new bun or toast their current one because the bottom bun was SOGGY, almost to the point of mush.  I liked their fries; they were crispy and salted well.

They advertise that they had clean bathrooms. When I walked into the single bathroom and turned on the light and thought that it looked clean enough. However, as soon as I stepped foot inside, I could hear the grime desperately clinging on to my flip flop, as if for dear life. Okay, that may be a bit of an exaggeration, but it was SUPER sticky.  I did not use the toilet, so I can't speak about that.

    Wasn't terrible, but overhyped.

First time visitor - not impressed.

$12 for burger, fries, and drink way too much money for food received.

I was excited that they finally opened a Twisted Root in Arlington, even though it's been opened for a while.

The vibe of the restaurant is great, it's super casual and they always have sports on the TVs. Even when they're crowded, it's not hard to find a seat since they have a nice sized patio.

The burgers are always good, I order a buffalo burger every time and it  never disappoints. I tried the "Mucho Caliente" burger this time and it was really good but not too spicy.

The pickle bar is awesome, they have all kinds of pickles (including Atomic) if you want something that spicy. The Bread and Butter pickles are my favorite.

They have a lot of options for sides, we always get sweet potato chips or fried jalapenos since we can never decide on just one. The portion size is pretty good for prices so I can't complain there.

I've heard the shakes are really good but I have not tried one yet.

Great place to go hangout and grab a burger if you're in the mood for one.

I love what's going on in downtown Arlington, lots of new fun places. Stopped by one afternoon for a late lunch/ happy hour. Rangers opening day, the crowd was VERY friendly and the food was oh-so good!

Zowie.  Delicious hamburgers which are prepared in umpteen dozen ways.  The home fries are wonderful and the prices aren't bad either.  The chocolate shake was so good, it could have been a meal in itself.  The place is a bit loud and you have to enjoy community seating.

Hmmm. Idk if this place is overrated or not. It is pretty expensive here. just for a plain burger it was like $6-7. And thats plain.  I like the atmosphere. Pretty cool place.  My regular cheeseburger was very.... Sub par.  I've enjoyed gas station burgers such as Carl's Jr better.  I thought they cooked the meat med-well. It was not. It was very well done to where the meat was very dry and no hint of pink whatsoever.  I dont like dry overcooked meat.
I liked that they were trying to be original with some of their sauces. But that doesn't mean I liked the Taste of it. So I had half a burger. The rest did not temp me. My bf tried to finish the other half. But he said it was quite unflavorful so couldn't finish it. He had the veggie burger which he said actually taste better than the meat burger. We still want to go back to try their custard ice cream shakes and other types of burgers such as beaver? Since that's so uncommon to see.

Never been disappointed here. Recently had the burger of the month, which was peanut butter, bacon and jalapeños. Damn it was good. Fries are par but paired with chipotle ketchup, are good, and pickle selection is nice. I love the different root beers they serve. Atmosphere is great as well

Twisted Root's food is always fantastic. The Deep Ellum location has a lot more spunk, but that is probably due to the fact that they think Arlington is full of lame suburbanites and families (which is probably at least partly true). Regardless... food = awesome. But last time we were in, the music was SO loud, and they closed the garage doors without altering the volume, which made it even louder. I couldn't even hear the person next to me. Good think our mouths were full of burger awesomeness!

The music is too loud, so I won't be eating in again.  I will consider takeout for the delicious chili cheeseburger with the sweet&spicy pickles.

The mushroom swiss was just ok.  The onion straws were too salty.  (I had them in Roanoke, and they were much better.)

I agree that the meat is dry, but that is because it is grassfed.  Order the burger done medium, and that should help matters.

We were there at 11:30 AM, and it appears that the restrooms had not been cleaned that day.

    DRY, DULL, DISSATISFYING!
We went to Twisted Root hoping for a juicy burger, but we got 3 DRY burgers a few sides, a drink, and milkshake for $50.00! Outrageous! Not worth it at all! It was less then satisfying, the burgers were horrible; Dry, Dull (no flavor), and Dissatisfying! We didn't even finish half of them! The burgers were each missing the tomatoes and the ranch that was suppose to accompany the meal having us have to get up from our food to ask for the forgotten items, after our long wait and hungry family this was frustrating to say the least! In addition I asked them to cut the kids (one burger) in half and they said,  "We are not allowed to do that". When I had to return to the counter to get the sides they forgot I saw a staff member cutting someone else's burger! WHAT! This is such bad customer service!!!!  The bathrooms were discussing and every time someone went in or out you could smell the stench of the bathroom! YUCK! On top of that there were little nats flying around our burgers. Had to kill several while eating. Overall very bad food! A total WASTE! We will not recommend this to others and will not go back!

I stopped after a Cowboys game and found this location to be a lot less stressful for an out-of-towner than the Deep Ellum location, and still a great burger!

I really liked the Big German burger, the pretzel bun is quite terrific, now I have 2 Dirks I'm a big fan of.  However my favorite thing about Twisted Root is the pickle bar, tried them all and went back for more!

Loved the atmosphere, great for watching a game and hanging out with friends.

    "Heather Locklear, order up!"

haha, just another day at the Twisted Root Burger Co.

I read about the burger joint on a food blog before I visited the area. So, I knew I wanted to try the place. From the moment I walked in, I knew I was going to like the place. First, there are hilarious signs, quotes and other pieces of artwork that lead you in to the restaurant/counter to order. Second, they've parked an old RV into the restaurant that now serves as the bar. Oh, and the music was good too. All these little things definitely added to the fun atmosphere of the place.

The menu is packed with glorious options (numerous gourmet burgers or a build your own option). They also feature a daily burger special and shake special. Fried pickles are on the menu. SHUT UP.
Homemade, fresh fried pickles. Oh, you know I ordered those. Along with a bacon peppercorn ranch burger. Diet schmiet. Once you are through ordering, they hand you a slip that has a celebrity/famous person's name on it. That's how you will know when your order is ready. Names I heard while dining:
    Annie Oakley
    Norman Bates
    Tony Danza
    Heather Locklear

The burger was fantastic! Great flavor, perfectly crisp bacon...and the fried pickles were great too. I forgot to ask for tomato (you do have to ask for them), so one thing was missing but that's my fault. It clearly states on the menu and signs- just ask!

They have a pickle bar also. That day they were featuring wasabi, bourbon infused sweet n sour, garlic dill and the regular dill pickles. To my surprise, i liked the wasabi the best. Pretty cool idea.

They also feature the normal condiments (ketchup, mustard) but they also include some house made sauces (chipotle ketchup, wasabi..something... grandpa's special sauce). I drizzled a little of each and to be honest- i liked them all!

Go. try it out. You won't be disappointed.

Oh, and order  a shake. I watched other people around me get their shakes and had some serious shake envy.

I ordered a buffalo burger with garlic mushrooms (togo).

The staff was very friendly. I enjoyed reading their signs around the place as I was waiting for my burger. They were pretty busy, so the wait was kind of long as expected. The atmosphere is exactly like the other Twisted Root locations. I think this location is larger in square footage because there was a bus inside.

Finally got my food. Came home to eat it, and the burger was a bit on the dry side and lacked flavor. I was a bit disappointed. Good thing I ordered garlic mushrooms with it because that's what really saved my burger.

Parking was a bit difficult because there aren't many spots to begin with. I parked at the side of the building next to another car, but I'm not sure if that was even a spot. It was too dark to tell. I came out, my car was still there, and no ticket, so thank God.

We went here for lunch and the atmosphere was grungy but welcoming. This was only my first time, but the burger I got tasted really YUMMY! We got the lots a shrooms burger with a side of fries.

When you place an order they give you a funny nickname so that when they call your name it'll make for a few laughs.

They had 4 different types of pickles to choose from, we only got the atomic pickles and the original. The atomic pickles tasted really spicy but not something I would eat with my burger because it would over power the taste of the burger. The burger was one of the best I've ever had, I can't even remember a better burger. I would definitely give this place a try if you've never been here before. Great atmosphere, although the air conditioning was kind of cold.

    Cheers!!

This isn't a bad gig.  It's a neat place with a nice atmosphere and pretty good burgers.

At this point I'm kinda done with the system where you get a celebrity name instead of a number, but it's not as irritating as other places that use this method.  Good looking restaurant with big garage doors that open up into what could become a nice little spot in downtown Arlington.  Port-a-Pot restrooms are amusing.

The burgers are pretty good.  A little on the expensive side, though.  Nice original sauces at each table.  I like the Ancho-Ketchup thing.  When I've got the extra cash, I like to get a buffalo burger.  The buffalo has been nice and juicy all but one time that I was here.  Fries are decent and toppings look pretty fresh on their own table.  Iced tea is a picture of Ice T and the ice machine has Ice Cube.  Ha.

My favorite part is the bar.  An old Winnebago with taps drilled into the side.  Good beer selection and a handful of local taps as well.

Let me start off with what I didn't like since that list is obviously shorter. I didn't like that I had to walk in, order food, get a paper with a random name on it and then pick up my food after. To me that is just annoying. It really doesn't make me feel like I'm going out for a fun night...but that all changed.

We decided to sit at the bar and the bartender was amazing. I think his name was David but I'm not sure. He asked what we ordered and started making conversation and asked if we'd like something to drink. I decided to start with tequila shots and David asked which one I'd like, he suggested a top shelf tequila that he heard was good. We went for it. It was alright, not better than Patron but I'm still going to buy a bottle for my bar (bottle is in the shape of Texas).

So we get our food and start eating. My food was pretty good, I ordered a Big Tex which was amazing but a bit too spicy for me. Chipolte sauce in Montreal is very different from Chipolte in Texas. I am also the type of person who normally asks for sauce on the side but I forgot so its really my fault the burger was too spicy for me. We got a side order of fried green beans and that was AMAZING!!! I never thought you could deep fry beans but then again, I am in the south! I was very impressed.

We decided to stick around to drink a bit more and I mentioned to the bartender that I don't like beer and he told me try try something. He gave me a sample of some cider that tasted like apple and it didn't make me hurl like beer usually does!

I was really impressed with their decor. Not that it was anything to write home about but it was just cool. I wonder where they got their tailgates from and we started talking to the bartender about that as well.  One thing this place really has going for it is that their staff is super friendly. At one point it wasn't very busy and we were talking to two of the bartenders about random things.  I love friendly people.:)

Overall, next time I'm in town I'll be coming back!

My fav place to grab a Bison burger. The food is always cooked to order and they have the most amazing pickle bar ever- grab one of each just to try.

They have a full bar and different drink specials everyday- they place gets super packed so get there early to snag a seat by the bus- yes- there is a BUS inside that serves as the back counter of the bar.

If you aren't having an adult beverage- go for the Watermelon Tea or Peanut Butter Shake- you wont be disappointed.

I was ok with my buffalo burger but can only give two stars for two important (for me) reasons... the drink area was about 1/3 the size it needs to be so i was fighting off people for a refill and my fries were room temperature/soggy.

I had heard good things about the Root and went with some avid fans, but I was less then impressed. Maybe I caught them on a bad night -- maybe the Saturday night crew is comprised of rookies who have never worked at a restaurant before. I'll likely give them another chance, but I don't think it will be anytime soon.

So before I get into my one beef let me tell you all the reasons I love this place.

The sides are amazing! Fried Pickles, Fries, Fried green beans, chili, so GOOD
All you can eat pickles - a variety too choose from - self serve!
    Fresh brewed tea!
Amazing turkey burgers - the best I have ever eaten
An amazing chili cheese dogs - it is heavenly
    Amazing burgers!

My beef, the line is long and the service is SLOW! takes forever to get through the line during lunch.  So my suggestion is go when it may not be so busy so you can really enjoy yourself.

Half of our fries were inedible... they'd been sitting under a heat lamp too long maybe? The burgers were mediocre. Mostly the patties were just lacking in flavor - too dry and under-seasoned maybe? Man, I really wanted to like this place. A Deep Ellum-spawned burger chain success story? Love the idea - not the food.

Ok, to be  honest, the burgers were not bad... but for $8 a pop, I expected excellence.

Also, I was a little apprehensive when I walked up to the counter... a couple of young white guys making my food? No thank you. I mean, I'm a young white guy who loves to cook, but most of these young honkies couldn't care less about crafting an excellent meal. They were also lacking in customer service. Blah.

I'll stick with Liberty Burger, Snuffer's, and maybe try that Off-Site Kitchen soon.

I have to admit that I was expecting this place to blow my mind, but I left feeling rather unsatisfied, especially because of the price for a burger joint in downtown Arlington.

I totally understand this whole higher-scale revamping of downtown Arlington and it seems pretty neat, but only a shroom burger and a side of fries cost me $9-something, and that's without a drink. That's almost a $10 combo, and if I had added a milkshake or even a soft drink, it would have tipped me over to $13-14. That makes me frown a bit unless I feel like it's totally worth it--I didn't think so, but I recommend that you go because you could totally love it. I guess when considering that price compared to dishes at other burger joints (for example, Hopdoddy in Austin or even places like Mooyah), I guess it didn't leave me too impressed.

Regarding the food on the other hand, the shroom burger was a decent burger, the swiss was melted pretty well into the mushrooms and the fries are pretty delicious, super crispy shoestring and seasoned. The difference between the shroom and regular burger is about $3, so the way I saw it was paying $3 for swiss and mushrooms, plus tomatoes are only given on request and unfortunately I had forgotten to request one.

What is cool is that the design is outdoorsy and social with a few tables in the sun and little slips of celebrity names instead of numbers, which is a fun twist. Personally, when I return to little old Arlington to save money, I find it really difficult to pay $8 for an alright burger when I could spend $8 on an absolutely smashing burger, and in the rise of customizable, hip burger joints, I felt like Twisted Root hasn't quite distinguished itself as a leading competitor yet. I'd definitely recommend going so that you could try it yourself, though!

Awww, dang!  The coveted 5-star rating!  I don't usually do this and I don't want you guys to think I'm going soft, but man, I had a great time here.

First of all, super nice counter people.  Having worked once upon a time at a restaurant that required hollerin' at people so they would come get their food, I particularly appreciated the fun names.  Secondly, the fucking root beer/root beer floats?  Shut up.  So good.  And you can just keep on refilling them.  I had the cherry vanilla root beer with my vanilla custardy stuff and it was so good, I got angry.

The burger itself was awesome.  I got the verde and it was this big, greasy, messy heap of super tender, well-seasoned meat and guacamole.  They do not skimp on the toppings.  If you like your meals clean, then go somewhere else, you sissy.  I got the fried green beans as a side and they made me very happy.  All crunchy and salty with some of the baddest assest peppercorn ranch ever....  Plus, the chipotle ketchup.  That was good too.  I can't wait to go back.  And get a FRIED EGG on that bitch.

So I expected to enjoy myself here, but I didn't expect to get the best customer service ever.

I got the black bean burger with beer sauteed onions and swiss cheese - yuuumm. Their variety of pickles were astounding and delicious. The assortment of beers on tap were varied and satisfying. The french fries were seasoned with herbs picked by the gods. When I asked for more tomato, I was offered a full tomato as a joke, but when I said yes, I actually received a full tomato worth of slices.

But let's talk about the customer service. We already knew we liked our bartender, A.J. He was friendly and helpful and willing to give us samples of beers. When our friends showed up and asked about the shakes, he gave them the strange sounding bacon shake on the house. All meat eaters at the table agreed it was amazing. Later in the night, he stopped back by the table with a gift card for $25. What?!! Amazing food, free shakes, AND free gift cards???

    IS THIS HEAVEN???

I think so. I anticipate many future visits. Also, when me and the hubs started quoting "Stepbrothers," he announced Dale Doback on the PA system. YES. Times a thousand, yes.

From the most unassuming environment comes an awesome and unique experience...  This place oozes character to say the least...

Looking around, there's not a thing that seems to have been overlooked by the decorating crew.  The bar, for instance, is a modified Winnebago that dispenses frosty cold libations like an outdoor kegger at a trailer park.  Some chairs are actually coolers, some are park benches, and most have some oddball saying written on them.  The walls are adorned with truck tailgates smattered with bumper stickers, some of which are downright hilarious.  But the unique nature doesn't stop there- your order isn't called by number, you're actually assigned a pop-culture icon to listen for instead!

The important part though, is the food.  The burgers are listed multiple times in multiple places, as well as with fliers along the order line to help expedite the flow of service.  With regards to the menu, you'll find the burgers listed as you would expect, however there are several exotic offerings as well.  In my case, I ordered exotic, but not your typical ones like bison/buffalo or ostrich.  I went with the kangaroo burger, including the recommended Swiss cheese, so as to not mask the delicate gamey flavors in the kangaroo.

We grab some beers and waited to hear our icon called- Chaka Khan in our case.  In the meanwhile, I also ventured to their flavored pickles bar.  The usual offerings such as kosher and dill slices were available, but my favorites were the wasabi ones.  That nice sour flavor finished with a nose clearing warmth was a nice surprise.

Once our burgers arrived, they immediately became the focus.  The cheese was noticeably thick as you could nearly jump rope with it once it began to pull away.  Other than that, my kangaroo didn't really have much going on in the flavor department.  Extremely juicy, but a lack of seasoning, the burger patty just didn't have a flavor all its own.  I'd certainly recommend it on texture, but its fair to say I'd come back to try another burger because there's clearly a lot of potential for this place, and many that have experienced it.  I'll have to check it out again and see for myself.

Twisted roots just cant seem to win me over completely...I dont like their burgers so I thought I try their grill cheese this time. Grill cheese is suppose to be hot for the grill cheese to be gooey. It wasnt...it was cold and greasy. I ate the bacon and tomato that was inside of the sandwich and threw the rest away. I did try their fried ride basket full of fried stuff this time and that was delicious. Be sure to share or else you'll get sick of eating too much oil. I also had their watermelon root beer this time and that was delicious! way better than the watermelon ice tea. So stick to root beer!

this place is way over rated and I'm over it!

We had a long drive to this place through questionable hoods but it was worth it.  Wow, this place is so much fun.  I wanted the long line to go slow just to take it all in.  Very quirky place.  Took lots of photos to upload to Facebook.  Burgers were outstanding - how often can you get one medium rare anyways?  I love all the pickles, my favorite being the Wasabi and the Spicy Hot one, and the sauces on the table for the burgers.  A homey place with plenty of paper towels, fold-up chairs, and everybody having a good time.  Coming from Seattle I sure didn't think it was expensive.  I had the regular Cheeseburger and that was plenty big.  Also tasted those delicious sweet potato chips and I could see their cinnamon sugar flavor being quite addictive.

Good service.  I even snagged a free t-shirt after we bought one and there was only one left while they were waiting for their new batch.  It's "Sofa King Good"!~

Twisted Root is another tragedy of the douche bags of Yelp, the over critical. I love a local burger joint just as much as the next guy, but I still love Twisted Root and I like this location even more. Arlington needed this, a joint with a great venue, a big bar, loads of seats and some great garage doors.

Sure, the burgers are a bit expensive, but they back it up with flavor. Get whatever their burger of the month is, probably $8, add the fried green beans for $3 and snag their drink special. Well worth it.

So glad they put this in Arlington.

Twisted Root is one of those eateries that just does not perform well in execution, service, and pricing. The menu is fantastic. Also, I had a great experience at the Roanoke branch. I was so excited to see this quality burger joint smack dab in my Arlington. Disappointed was I. $21 for a terrible experience does not justify being a famous institution.

Big German: (aka) The big gross clump. The beef was cooked to a hockey puck, the cheese was rubbery, and the sauerkraut added nothing. Furthermore, the pretzel bun sucked. Bad. Real bad.

Thanksgiving Feast: (aka) The Thanksgiving Flop. The turkey was cooked past the hockey puck stage, floating into the point of no return--almost burned to a crisp. The cranberry sauce was boring, and the sweet potato chips were cold.

Caramel Apple milkshake boasted "real ingredients", but it was way too "real sweet." Also, at $5, it was pretty dang overpriced. The caramel bits were too sticky, and the shake was just prepared very sloppily.

The counter gentleman taking our order was very rude, to boot.

On a positive note, the ridiculous decor adds a touch of a novelty. Until you get lost a couple times. Lastly, both men and women's (my mother went in to her respective wash closet, mind you) were out of paper towels. TR sucks. At least the Arling-fun location. Go to Roanoke or Dallas.

After reading the 8 reviewers before me, I feel like I have very little to add besides a yawning "second" to the nominations of this place's mediocrity.

In short, it just wasn't worth it.  There are far better burgers out there for cheaper, just maybe not in the immediate area.  I had the sweet potato chips and well... if I ever happen to go back I won't have them again.  And the most disappointing of all - I ordered a rootbeer float, and what I got was a little plastic cup with about an inch and a half of soft-serve ice-cream plus a finger pointing me to the soda machine.  Seriously?  $4 for that?  Wow.

Anyway, the place isn't terrible and there isn't anything truly "wrong" with it, so you might think it's "the most awesomest place ever".  And certainly you'd be entitled to that opinion and I wouldn't argue.  But for me, I can't think of a single reason to return.

Had my first ever Twisted Root experience this afternoon (Arlington location), after hearing rave reviews for years about the original in Dallas. I was quite disappointed, to be honest.

The atmosphere was decent, fun even. Though, I'm not a fan of the 'theme park' style decor and service. What I mean is, it all seems overly 'chain' like or contrived rather than what I had expected: a bit more organic and divey. Nonetheless, I found myself enjoying it.

When I try a burger place out for the first time, I go for basic. I figure if you can't make a burger good with just the patty, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and ketchup, then your burgers aren't all that good. The verdict? Meh.

Details: The patty seemed too 'perfect' in its shape - almost plastic. It was dry (they cook medium-well unless you ask differently; yet, still it was very dry). I tend to think they over work their patties (or perhaps they press too hard during cooking) as it seemed too dense. I said that it was on par with Kincaids, in my opinion, and I do not care for Kincaids either.

Their fries? I got the "straight cut" fries, which were also "meh." I had expected something that tasted fresh, but instead they seemed frozen (mealy in texture) and overly seasoned with seasoned salt and/or something else.

    The beer? Cold and tasty.

I'll perhaps return with coworkers but I won't be seeking this out when a burger craving comes on. I'd rather drive all the way to Southlake for Johnny B's. Best damn one I've found in the area so far.

Okay, heard it opened, so dropped by late that first evening. Never eaten at one before, so was eager to try it out after reading reviews of ones in Dallas. Got a build your own, with bacon and beer sauteed onions, with some fries. One thing I forgot, was to get the whole wheat bun instead of the sesame bun, I really wish they would have asked, and since it was just opened, maybe they should be, but still, that's my fault.

Burger was good, but the sauteed onions weren't what I was expecting, I was hoping for a more grilled onion taste, but you don't learn unless you try stuff. Burger overall was pretty good, next time I'll try something different, but wasn't as good as Chop House Burgers in my opinion. For the price, I guess I was expecting more. Also, for the price, I was expecting fresh cut fries, instead they have frozen ones, and if they weren't frozen, they were the worst fresh cut I've ever had. Had some seasoning, but just nothing special.

Now, and I didn't figure this into my rating. But the whole, "we're low end bohemian, so we ARE the cool kids" atmosphere is getting old. C'mon folks, if you're working the front, try not to act like you're one emo breakdown away from suicide. You're the new kids on the block, ask your unknowing customers if they have any questions, cause it would have been nice, but no one seemed like they could tear themselves away from their depressed realm to do it.

Also, the ORDER NAME TAG THING. One other place I've gone to does it, and it made me wonder who stole it from who. I want to say, in a most indifferent way. that it's not that entertaining. Listening to some one doing a very bad Darth Vader heavy breathing impression as they call out "order for Luke" is a little to smarmy. Now, if you want to make it interesting, and get my respect, let's see some more interesting name tags, like "stomach cancer", "herpes", "Hitler", hell, how about a few serial killers? (I'd throw in a couple of names, but I'd never hear the end of it) You want to be on the "bleeding" edge of this gimmick? I can't wait to hear over the counter speaker, "I have an order ready for A VICIOUS STD", now that folks, would be riding the razors edge. I'd come by more often just to listen to that material.

Anyway, overall it looks like a pretty good place, I need to try it out a few more times. With it's central location, it could very well be a place just to hang out and have a few drinks before moving on elsewhere on the weekend nights. I'll be very surprised if I don't end up here more in the future.
