First off: This location is closing on June 29th 2013. According to the manager, the landlord doubled rent on them and they didnt want to pay it. Me thinks they sucked and didn't really have the business to stay open much longer anyways.
We've been to Twisted Taco twice. First time we had bought a half off depot coupon to use. Long story short, we had such awful service (20 minutes) to get water, awful drinks (the "blended" margarita was the worst I've had) and a messed up taco order. We ended up not using the coupon though because in the restaurants defense, the manager comped most of what we had a problem with.
Second experience (because we had to use the coupon, no other reason to return)
We found out they were closing the next day so they didn't have much alcohol in stock. The food was okay, mediocre at best. And waited 15 minutes for a beer.
Based on this experience, definitely wouldn't visit another location.
Not so great experience. I bought a deal from http://halfoffdepot.com and decided to go at 10 pm on a Saturday night. When me and my boyfriend arrived it was closed but it said it stayed open till midnight. I called the next day and she told me they randomly closed early that night because there was nobody there. I was ok.... So the following weekend we went (in the day). Our server was nice but she was new so ddnt know to much. I ordered the grilled chicken avcado sandwich with a side salad, my bf ordered 2 soft tacos with fries, and I ordered a small guacmole which was priced at 2.09. The manager comes and brings the guacmole in a big bowl so I asked the waiter if this was the small and she informed me that she hit the wrong button and that she would take care of it. The food wasn't that great for the price and when we got the bill the guac was on there so she went to make the change(the big guac she sharged me for wass $8). Then the manager came over and said he was only going to take off a few dollars because of the price of avocado. I told him that I ordered the smallest one and he was like yeah but you ate some of it..and I told him I ate some cause the waiter said it was her mistake and that she would take care of it....It was EXTREMELY unprofessional. I would be back.
Review Source:Visited on a slow Sunday night. There were only six other tables in use. I know because as we stood for ten minutes waiting to be seated, I had time to count. Finally was seated but wasn't acknowledged by anyone for at least 5-10 minutes, not even water or an "I will be right with you." Â It was like we weren't there. After watching the waitresses have an apparently funny conversation at the bar for about five minutes, we decided to leave. Funny thing is that we walked by two waitresses and the hostess on our way out with still no acknowledgement. Since I am pretty sure we didn't stink, I am just chalking it up to bad service and won't return.
Review Source:After trying the other Twisted Taco, I was a bit apprehensive about this one. Â But...it was quite a bit better! Â I had two of the fish tacos and a shrimp taco. Â All were very tasty...and...given the closeness to several of my favorite recreation spots (the Big Creek Greenway and some tennis facilities)...it is a quick and easy dinner!
Service was a bit spotty...but...overall...a recommended place...
I've been to this spot a few times. I travel a lot for work so whenever I'm in Roswell I usually stop by this place. However when i went in last week, i decided to sit at the bar, big mistake! The service I received was horrible! The girl behind the bar was so preoccupied with her buddies at the bar that I had to ask four times for napkins and didn't even receive the Side of fries I had asked for. Whenever i asked for something she gave me a look like i was putting her out. She was completely unprofessional. Table service was better the few times before that, but doubt I will be back I was so turned off the last Time.
Review Source:I drove from downtown Atlanta to Roswell on March 10 to use a discount certificate I'd purchased. We were informed 5 minutes after we sat down that the kitchen was closed because "everybody got sick OR SOMETHING and went home." Great. Glad I wasted the gas and time.
On March 17, I called before driving up there just to make sure they were open and serving food. They said they were. I drove all the way back up there, sat down, and ordered cheese dip, a two-taco platter, and a Margarita. The only thing they got right was the cheese dip. The Margarita was weak and not the one I ordered, and BOTH tacos were wrong. I ordered 4 items and they screwed up three of them.
If you hate cilantro, DO NOT eat here. The salsa is so overloaded that it's inedible.
Oh, and the floor was DISGUSTING. My shoes stuck to the floor so badly that I had to use a wet napkin to wipe off the soles of my shoes before I got in my car so I wouldn't ruin my floor mats. If there was a ZERO STAR rating, they'd deserve it.
Paul K. and i went here for dinner before heading out to Studio Movie Grill. We couldn't find the place because they didn't have a sign up. Â Instead, they posted 'Twisted Taco' but how are you suppose to see that when it's night time. I thought service was great but everything else was ordinary. Â The menu is a lot smaller than the location at 'Perimeter'. I had the chicken tamales with a touch of guacamole & shredded cheese. Â I ordered a side dish of plantains that i didn't even finish.
Review Source:How is it that I'm the duke and I've not written a review. Â .... ok first clue why I'm landing on 3 stars, ever frequent a restaraunt and you're not sure why?
It's.... well....
Ok here it's like this. Â See...
K I got it. Â It's a restaraunt that's located really close to my house. Â Decent food, nothing at the top I'd recommend. Â If you are in a hurry, sit at the bar, the table service is horendous. Â
Oh wait on other thing. Â They do have TV's at the tables!! Â That's the extra half star.
I was here last night for some Mexican food and drinks. We ordered chicken wings, i liked them.. But my wife did not, she holds all wings to taco mac standards.. I ordered the taco's have the best taco's in town.. The issue started when i tried to redeem my half off depot coupon. The waitress redeemed it on my iphone and a few Min's later the manager shows up with his iphone to redeem it when i explain the waitress already took care of it. He wants to see the redeemed coupon not trusting me and tries to enter the code in his phone..When it shows the coupon is already redeemed. He tells me that only the manager show handle coupons not waitress. I wonder why are you telling that to me??? Tell it to your employee who redeemed the coupon. The managers rude and unprofessional behavior spoiled the night. I am never again going to this place...
Review Source:I have been here 3 times. Each time I think, "I will never go back again!" But without fail one of my friends thinks its a good place to try.
Every time we go the food is sh*$. One time I got charged $70 for two beers. Then the bar tender screamed at me for trying to skip out of my bill... No sir. You over charged me...
Last time I went, it was Sinco De Mayo. Surprisingly uncrowded (must be because other people know it's sh*t). Sat on the patio waiting for service that never came. The funny thing was there were two other tables who were just as unhappy with the place as I was. We reminisced about all the times we came and hated the place, and how we always promise never to come back... Oh the memories.
Never Go To Twisted Taco. If you work for the government, I would seriously consider an audit. Places run this bad are generally laundering money.
I gave this Twisted Taco four stars, same as the one off of Windward, but this one is probably a little better because of the vibe and atmosphere. Â Same food and same weirdo/not bad service, but it is defintely more lively. Â Dressing on the Mongo salad is off the chain, recommend that; anything else, your standard Tex-Mex fare. Â I think they still do trivia on Tuesdays, which is always fun.
Review Source:It was a overall ok experience here for me. My husband and i went here toward the end of the night. we got there at about 945 or so and was told that the kitchen closes at 10. I got the queso and chips with the chicken quesodilas. The dip was a bit watery but the queosdilias were great. event the next day! This is a good place to go if it is late and you are in the area.
Review Source:We had an excellent experience here at the Taco, good food and great service. Â For starters, we had the loaded tots which were really good. Â But here is a tip: Â The Alamo Taco is awesome but it is hot enough to blow out your taste buds. Â I made the mistake of eating it before the cheese-steak taco which made the cheese-steak seem bland.
Review Source:For an over-the-top themed "experience," Twisted Taco is much more in-depth than another Tex-Mex restaurant like Moe's or Chipotle. There's a dining room dressed up like a jail cell, mounted heads line the wall, and the entire time I wondered "What happens if somebody else buys up the place?"
They'd be stuck with some rustically molded walls and antler chandeliers, but they'd be able to upgrade some of the food. Fish tacos, ballooned burritos, and fajitas-it's all there, and there are some house specialties that called "Southwestern cuisine" into question. Yes, there's grilled chicken, but there's also buffalo fried chicken and a Greek salad taco. I tried a Chicken 'n waffles taco. It wasn't big, but once loaded with waffle strips and a maple cream cheese, I had a facedown with getting full.
The chips are crisp and the guacamole, though not spicy, was the best part. However, I think with some of the outlandish options for tacos causes some compromises with the quality of standbys.
Ok, I just want to be clear before we go any further that the only reason I'm giving this place 3 stars is for the food. Â Service gets a 2 and that's being generous.
I really enjoyed everything I ate, no problems there. Â The table shared the fajita steak queso and it was awesome! Def get that again.
I also ordered their pick 3 taco meal and I really liked all the tacos I received. Â I say received because one of the ones I ordered they were out of (it was a sunday and restaurants run out of stuff a lot on sundays). Â To be honest, I don't remember the names of the tacos. Â They were all delicious and I would order those again. Â The rest of the table seemed happy with their food as well. Â
Now, on to the service..... It was bad as soon as I walked through the door. Â There was no hostess so I waited to be seated. Â I was the first to arrive out of our party o' 5. After a couple minutes i sat on the bench thinking I would be there awhile. Â After having several people walk by me and the bartender standing about 5 feet from me another party walked in behind me. Â They were seated right away and before I could say anything I was left there to be ignored again. So, my party arrives and I'm guessing we were sat due to the large amount of people standing up front waiting. Â
After being sat we waited awhile to be greeted and then our server didn't know ANYTHING about the menu or.... anything to do with a bar/restaurant really. Â Trying to get a lime to go with the MARGARITAS was like pulling teeth. Â Either the bartender was lazy, or she wasn't very experienced either. Â Not to mention that it took a long time to get the drinks when she only had 2 people at the bar and the restaurant was slow. Â When I say slow, I mean slow. Â
I always feel bad leaving reviews that are so picky, but the service was bad. I mean really bad. Â So, if you don't mind dealing with A LOT of frustration to get some good tacos then go for it. Â If not, save yourself the trouble and go to a good mexican restaurant and get better service and cheaper food.
Had lunch at the place and the food was just OK. Â Great menu and lot of choice but the rice served wasn't even warm. Â Tacos were good but not great. Â Definitely a good variety of options though.
Service was not that great. Â Had to request for water refills and it's almost like they did not want us around. Â Not that they were busy or anything because the place was almost empty.
Overall, it's an OK place to grab some tacos but probably avoid this location and try a different Twisted Taco next time around.
We came to this Twisted Taco location for Tuesday night Team Trivia (it just started). Â It was fun, the host was a good guy, and it wasn't crowded.
The service however was not good. Â I am not sure if our waitress even worked there because she was terrible.
The food was okay, but it seems like each time we go back it gets worse and worse...but I am sure we will still be back, because it's not that bad and it's a fun atmosphere.
This restaurant has its place, and by the large crowd I'm sure its just what Roswell needs and wants. However I don't live or work in Roswell and for others who don't I just can't see any reason to make a special trip out to Twisted Taco. The food was OK, the drinks were OK, the DJ was barely OK, the staff couldn't handle a party our size (I was there for a birthday. Went there 2 nights ago and I can't recall what anything I had tasted like.
Review Source:Three years ago I would have given this place a four star rating. Â It's a block from work and we would take up permanent residence most Fridays at one of their front tables around 3 in the afternoon and shut the place down. Â (you think I'm joking, but I'm not). Â They had an awesome DJ. Â Around 10 the tables would be moved and the dance floor would fill up. Â Occasionally the bartenders would hop up on the bar (Coyote Ugly style) dance and give free shots to the girls. Â It was so much fun! Â The help was just OK, we were ignored a lot, but we didn't care that much since we were there for, um, 11 hours. Â And they were very nice when they did help us. Â We just learned for the faster drinkers that going straight to the bar was better.
Fast forward two years...I would have adjusted my rating to 3 stars. Â The DJ changed and the music got weird. Â It was hit and miss as far as the crowd went on a Friday night, they just weren't as busy. Â The help was still inattentive, but they were sweet. Â We stopped coming as often. Â
Forward again to this year (and specifically last night) and a two star rating. Â I feel like their management has changed a few times over the last year or so. Â They've remodeled twice and the music has gone completely downhill. Â That 's not to say it's bad, just it was SO good before. Â Once there was a blues band (very good), but not what the crowd (of 3 tables) wanted on a Friday night at 10. Â We decided to do happy hour here last night. Â Our waitress was fine for a minute, then she did three things that were not great. Â First, she started talking about one of the ladies at the table drinking too much. Â (and not in a nice, concerned way) Â Now, you have to understand our friend is out there, but she's the same sober or not (plus she had 2 drinks by this time). Â Second, she asked us how we wanted our bills split up. Â I asked her if we were leaving and she said she just wanted to keep it straight. Â No one had asked for their bills. Â So we told her and sure enough she brought them out. Â We asked if she was leaving (it's not uncommon for us to be there through a shift change and we are happy to cash out and reopen tabs). Â She said no, but that we weren't in her section (like it was a big deal to walk five tables over to us). Â Clearly we were taking up too much of her time so we paid and moved to the bar. Â A DJ started to set up and we were excited. Â Kind of on the fence about going home or staying out and thought some good music would help. Â Nope, the opposite actually. Â It was slow and old and I felt like I was there to break up with my boyfriend. Â We cashed out and left. Â :-(
So sad because this place use to be great! Â
(side note, their food is pretty good)
Despite some bad experiences there (sloooow service and the too-strong cleaner sprayed on tables during lunch), I still recommend this place because of the food and price. Â For $6 I can get two good sized soft tacos stuffed with pretty much whatever I want (I order them a la carte). My favorites are the "wild alaskan" (crab cakes) and Geronimo (steak fajita meat -spicy). Â Lots of choices on the menu. Â Nice atmosphere, especially if you're a sports fan. Â I think the management is the problem with slow service - not staffing up sufficiently or whatever.
Review Source:Has this place really been open for 3+ years? Â My how time flies...
Twisted Taco has become the go to place for our after work happy hours, since it's just down the street. Â And time has allowed for everything about this TT to become more consistent, except the service. Â The service is still somewhat hit or miss based on who's working and how motivated he/she is that day. Â Some times the servers will work hard and stay on top of things for a crowd and sometimes they are no where to be found, even when you're the only people in the place.
The food is still mediocre, but nachos and totchos on the corporate dime do seem to taste a little bit better. Â For those of you who haven't heard of TT, these are not your traditional ground beef and beans tacos - they've got "fancy" tacos like Greek (gyro meet with tzatziki sauce), Thai (chicken with julienned veggies and peanut sauce), and Alaska (king crab).
There are 2 pool tables and TV's in the booths at the back to keep you entertained.
#Yelp365 - 57/365
Lolz, this place is horrible. We came in for lunch on a weekday and it took over 15 minutes for somebody to come take our order. It was not busy there was no excuse. We waited with our empty drinks looking around like are you kidding me? My menu smelled like BARF I mean seriously what is that all about? The table was sticky! Â Just an overall terrible experience. If you want to go someplace with taco in the name go to Taco Mac at least there you know what to expect.
Review Source:This place is OK for watching a game (they have plenty of TVs) but hardly differs from the dozens of other mediocre sports bar chain establishments.
As noted by other Yelpers, the service can be very spotty at times (depending on server) and the food (in all my visits) has been consistently below quality and taste expectations for even a sports bar; honestly, I have had far superior tacos, chicken sandwiches, burgers and fries from ALL of the cheap fast food joints.
Overall, Twisted Taco is just another bar/restaurant/hangout that offers multiple TV viewing, loud audio, and alcohol. The food is really pitiful and NOT worth the price, and the service can be harried and spotty, but I keep coming back for the companionship of close *friends that frequent this place to watch a game.
@ Special note to anyone reading this review, please be aware that this Twisted Taco location houses the local *Pittsburgh Steelers fan[s]; if you are not a Terrible Towel waving fan of the Yellow and Black, look out!
Great place to grab some tacos and some beer if you are ever in this part of Georgia. Â I flew out there a couple of years ago to visit and recommended a friend to go there. Â He and I ate there 3 out of the 5 nights I was visiting. Â The cool thing is that there is so many different tacos on the menu that you can try them all. Â I do recommend the teriyaki tacos. Â They were delicious. Â The place is nice inside, some of the waitresses are bitches. Â But for the most part the others will be playful and have fun with you. Â Definitly an enjoyable experience.
Review Source:We wandered into here after finding our first lunch choice had gone out of business. Â We were surprised at the decor, expecting a hole in the wall Mexican place. Â First impression is that they spent too much on decorating, but we did notice they had a 100 on their health inspection. Â
The tequila menu is extensive and we were impressed with the variety of selections available. Â I decided to go with a three taco combination. Â I tried the Teriyaki Pork Taco, The Wild Alaskan, and the Crawfish. Â The pork was flavorful and very tender. Â Not a favorite, but the taste was interesting. Â The Wild Alaskan was stuffed with tiny crab cakes. Â These appeared to be frozen food service, but you can't expect home made crab cakes outside of a seafood joint and these were still tasty. Â The Crawfish taco was the best with the jalapeno mayo. Â
The Tequila and choices with food make this place a good choice for after work happy hour. Â The prices are reasonable for the tacos and you could keep ordering small portions for hours. Â I would like to see more televisions than they have, but that's the only minor thing missing from a great evening stop.
I have now been to this location twice, both times for Tuesday night trivia. Â Although I like some items on the menu (especially the Black n Blue tacos), I'm underwhelmed by the service and inconsistent food quality.
On both visits, I found some of the food to be hot and tasty, while other items were cold. Â Additionally, the wait staff just doesn't seem to care. Â I can't say they're bad at waiting tables, but they don't take care of the little things. Â For example, I had to ask for water refills and more beer...just little things that make a difference between average service and good service.
I'm sure it's possible to have a great time at Twisted Taco. Â I want to like this place, but I can't recommend it, especially with such great restaurants available in the area.
Good food, pretty decent menu, fair prices (well on food, anyway).
Service was pretty good for a nearly full lunch crowd.
Salsa had that smokey chipotle taste, not a big fan, but can't say no to salsa.
We'll definately be going back. Â Give it a chance because for 6.95 you get 2 tacos plus beans and rice (or add 75 cents for a salad). Â That's def worth it right there.
Re-affirming my initial review. Today, all three of my tacos were tasty--Thai Chicken, Sierra Madre (fried chicken, jalapeño mayo), and Wild Alaskan (crab cake). We were there in the middle of lunch, not super crowded and service wasn't bad but I suppose it could've been a little better. One server seemed a bit scattered, another was a bit aloof. Overall, though, again, the food was tasty and I felt I got good value.
I still plan to go to the Dunwoody one, haven't been yet. Â To give my wife a basis for comparison, I described Twisted Taco as being to tacos what California Pizza Kitchen is to pizzas. Â Good analogy, huh? Â (Forgetting for a moment about the tequilas at TT.)
I went here tonight with my girlfriend. She brought her kid along and I brought mine. I was dismayed to find that the kid's menu did not include a burrito plate as one of the choices. Kid's love burritos probably because of Willy's; their kids burritos are a favorite of many kids I know.
We had to order burritos for the kids from the regular menu. Not a problem; however, the server or the kitchen screwed up and mislabeled or something and the wrong burritos went to the wrong kids. The server quickly remedied the problem and a new burrito came promptly to the table for my son.
My girlfriend and I ordered Chips and guacamole which was actually pretty damn good. My son didn't finish his burrito and I had a couple of bites. Again, pretty damn good. Service was a little disorganized but the food was good enough to make up for it. It was a little pricey compared to other similar places; however, I suppose that is to be expected given the ambience. Bottom line: minor glitches with service but hot waitresses, cool atmosphere and very good food more than make up for slight irritations.
I was at the Roswell Twisted Taco a couple of weeks ago, while traveling to the area, and had a great time. Â The staff was friendly and outgoing,
Thursday, with the mechanical bull, was a blast, and evenings had a steady crowd, virtually all week.
The food was great - quite tasty. I ate my way through most of the list of tacos and one was better than the other. And you can't beat the prices.
The atmosphere was great and you can even use the Ninteno WII on a 50" HDTV, in the back room.
I saw many families sitting down for lunch, during the day, on weekends. The kids like the arcade games in the game room.
But, come 9:30-10pm, it's time for the grown-ups to play.
The Twisted Taco is a great place, in Roswell, to kick up your heels, be around great people, dance to the latest music and even watch your favorite sport.
There's something for everyone and the location's twisted way puts it all together, somehow, in a fun way.
Um, there's a Twisted Taco in Roswell? Apparently so! Went with some colleagues for lunch today and really enjoyed the service and my taco selection (teriyaki pork and some random chicken one).
The place is HUGE, or at least it feels it because it was so empty - but I give it thumbs up for lunch. A little too strip mall for fun after work drinks or weekend dinner.
Service was awesome, but then again, we were among the only ones in there so I would hope so.
Having moved from a west midtown office, this might have to fill in for taqueria for my funky taco lunch fix. Decent for sure.
My husband and I went to Twisted Taco on a Friday night a couple of weeks ago around 10 pm and here is my review:
- live DJ that played music from totally different era's and genre's so song to song didn't flow
- bar area was 3 people thick trying to place or pick up their drink orders, and they didn't even have what I ordered (Bailey's & Vodka) and what they gave me was not good
- dance floor with hardly anyone really dancing, ok not a dance floor, but a small, minute dance "area"
- the place just didn't have any Zen, meaning, everything from the decor, to the staff, DJ, dancing, bar, music, etc. didn't flow into each other, didn't jive, didn't relate, it just felt very odd
- people: Â I must say this was the weirdest thing ... if I was blindfolded and taken to Twisted Taco and was only shown the patrons ... I would have sworn we were in Buckhead. Â The people there were the most trendiest looking, model-esque dressed I have ever seen. Â Everyone was beautiful, dressed in the now, very hip, very trendy
We were only there for about an hour meeting friends and then we left to go to Wild Wings off of Windward Pkwy 'cuz that is the place to party on the weekends!
We didn't eat, so depending on the food, perhaps this could have gotten two stars.
This place is about as impressive as a can of beans.
Last night I went out with old friends who were all in town for the holidays, and instead of driving all the way to midtown for a night of drinking, we did some OTP bar hopping. I myself have never ventured into any OTP bar other than the Taco Mac in Dunwoody.
Firstly, we were all carded at the front door. Understandable, it was Friday night.
Secondly, the place was was to elaborate for my likes. I like my bars to be authentic, so when I see a forced rustic look, I just think it screams tacky. Cows fur on the back of chairs...really, really...and a 3 foot wide painted cowboy butt on the main wall....yeah. You get my drift. Maybe they are trying to attract a more metro male crowd. To bad, the majority of the people there were the freshly divorced, all gray coverage dyed hair 40 somethings from Alpharetta.
Thirdly, the bathrooms. The conversations between the guys in our group about the bathroom situation might have been the funniest thing ever. They are labeled so you risk walking into the wrong stall. And apparently, if you are a guy, you have to wash your hands right next to a guy peeing with no divider in between. I don't know for sure, but by the end of the night, our guys were crossing their legs.
Oh, and the DJ...not good. Just not good.
So my advice, skip this Twisted Taco. I doubt it'll last very long in this location.
