If you're a hotdog lover, you MUST try this place!
I discovered this place after canvasing door to door last year begging donations for a non profit area event. (And what do ya know, they donated too..so you know they're good peeps). I don't know how long they were open before I noticed them, but I'm so glad I did because I love love love them.
I'm not embarrassed to say that hot dogs are my favorite food. Despite the fact that my husband is a chef and I can have a gourmet meal any given night...if you ask my most favorite any given day, it's a dog. It's weird, I know. But we can't help what we love right? Anyway...It's really hard to find a GOOD hotdog. I'm talking jumbo, all beef (what else), poppy seed bun, homemade relish, all the fixins, AND celery salt. You can't forget the celery salt! Mmmmmmm.
Despite the famous-ness of the one other longstanding area hot dog joint, I've always been disappointed there. It's like an Oscar Meyer wiener on a wonder bread bun compared to this!
Anyway, I'd like to say that I've tried a bunch of things here because every time I go I vow to try something new, but I always cave and order my fav, the Chicago Style. But they really do have a pretty good selection so at some point I will try something else.
Really. Try this. You won't regret it.
Oh and bring cash. No credit cards.
Stopped in for my first visit today. Â Ordered a Chicago Dog with tater tots instead of the fries. SO good. Â Everyone was friendly and the food was inexpensive. Â When I told them it was my first time stopping in they gave me a lunch card and made sure to stick a menu in the bag for me. Â Looking forward to my next visit to try something else!
