I walked into this little place cuz I didn't feel like walking down to Jake's on montrose and sheridan. Â This is a typical Chicago sandwich and burger joint, no frills; which is what makes it good. Â I got a cheeseburger with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, ketchup and a fried egg over easy. Â The burger was really good and the fries were fresh and crispy, and they didn't skimp on either.
Here's the best part, it was ready in about 5-7 minutes and it was $6 with a can of diet coke included. Awesome. Â The food hit the spot and didn't break the bank.
Also the staff, while english is definitely a second language, is very nice. Â Just be clear with your order and they are efficient and accommodating. Â I will definitely be back since it's fairly close and because I got exactly what I wanted. Â The clientele's a little iffy, but I just get it to go lol. Â Check it out, guys. Take it for what it is. Â Happy munching!
Crappy little place in a strip mall.
This place illustrates one of my theories about restaurants. I maintain that the pricier the food, the fewer times you need to repeat yourself. Cheap food, simple order - it seems like you have to say your order over and over as if they're discovering the menu item for the first time.
E: "Hello! Ham, egg and cheese sandwich, on toast, please. And a decaf coffee."
US Sub: "You want cheese?"
E: "Yes. Ham, egg and cheese sandwich, on toast, please."
US Sub: "Egg?"
E: "Yes. And ham and cheese . . . on toast, please. Like a sandwich?"
US Sub: "Sandwich? For here or to go?"
E: "Yes. Sandwich. For here"
US Sub: writes down "To Go". "Ohhhhhhhhhhkaayyyyyyy."
E. "For here. Here."
The sandwich itself was okay, nice slice of ham, but I'll never come back here. Unless I want a fake leather jacket, or a baseball cap embroidered with "DEA" "FBI" or "CIA" on it.
Very ghetto and unappealing. I only stopped in 'cos I was starving, hadn't had breakfast yet, and was searching for the Zipcar lot on Margate nearby.
