Mary's Rec Room

Checked out this place last night for trivia night and decide to have dinner while playing trivia. The trivia was great...the questions were challenging and fun and the pace was perfect. We couldn't say the same for the food.

My husband and I both got the Guacamole BJ burger. We waited 40 minutes for our burgers to arrive, and when they did, we found them to be very uneventful. They were about as good as a typical burger you can get at a greasy spoon. The bun was the worst part though. It tasted like your run of the mill bun you can buy at the grocery store for a backyard barbecue. If you are going to offer a bunch of specialty burgers with unique ingredients, I think the bun should also be special in some way.

Our waiter was very apologetic about the wait and brought us a free dessert which we appreciated. However, with all the great burgers in this city, I won't be choosing to go back there for one.

Great fun place. Trivia night on Tuesdays is always something to look forward to each week. Friendly atmosphere. Food is from Hamburger Mary's (next door) and has the same hours of food service. Drinks are fairly priced. Beer drafts are plenty but other drinks are limited. Otherwise, a great place.

My friends and I came here on Saturday for watch the footballs games and pretty much spent the entire day eating, drinking, screaming at the TVs and playing pool.  

The game started around 3:30pm, so we were happy to discover there were plenty of tables to choose from.  Our server, who rocked the entire night, was helpful in putting two tables together for our group of 7 and made sure we always had drinks and food throughout the course of our stay here.

We tried so many different things, since we were here for about 7 hours (insane, I know).

Here's a list of everything we had:

- Fried Pickle Spears - awesome, definitely get these!
- Beer n' Cheese dip - also awesome, but order some extra pretzels or fries because there is so much dip!
- Potato skins - I didn't eat these, but our friends loved them
-Mary Burger - this is what I had and it was awesome, huge and juicy.  I got it with tatter tots, which were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside
-Turkey Burger - my friend got this and loved it
-Hawaiian Burger - a few of my friends got this and loved it.  The pineapple looked really good.
- Breakfast Burger - someone else got this and literally ate the whole thing (as if that's possible with how huge these things are).  The egg was cooked perfectly and it was spilling over with cheese
-All American Stuffed Burger - my fiance got this and was head over heels for it.  It's stuffed with cheese and bacon.  Pretty much a heart attack on a plate
-Vanilla Milk Shake w/ Honey - someone ordered this and raved about it, it was huge and creamy.

Beer!  They have a great selection of beer here.  I was all about their wheats in the bottle.  I wasn't a huge fan of their drafts, some of them seemed a little flat to me but perhaps it was just me.  Everyone was getting the draft, so its possible I was being picky.  

I also had a bloody mary, which was really good, for those interested in something a little stronger than beer.

The pool table is fun, but in a weird spot to play.  I felt bad disrupting the staff since its situated where they come out from the kitchen and near the wait station.  They never seemed annoyed, but I still felt bad.

The staff was just super nice throughout the whole time here.  Our server was on top of everything and funny to hang out with.

They also have a million high definition TVs, so if you want to see the game - this is a great place to watch.  And for anyone who gets sick of watching TV (like my lady friends and I were), we went for a walk in the hood and left the boys to their football.
