I love this place, was concerned when they first opened, but the waitstaff and bartending staff, and owner are just so darned awesome that they won me over. Â politically active, intellectual conversationalists when appropriate, socially aware, and most importantly good martini makers...I can bring my friends here, my mom here, my sister here and they would all have a good time!
Review Source:Terrific ambiance, amazing drinks, great service and cute crowd. I couldn't imagine what else I would want in a neighborhood bar.
I love coming here for dessert. They have a bunch of different types of chocolate martinis, all of which are amazing. They all cost north of $10, but they're both delicious and strong - definitely worth the price. I'm told they also have a great wine selection, nice cosmopolitans and traditional martinis, but I always order the desert drinks because they're amazing.
The vintage mahogany decor is only-in-Chicago but elegant. Some of the waiters are HOT in their formal wear. They crowd is gay and straight, men and women, 30s and 40s. Everyone is a bit sloshed because the drinks are so strong.
If I have any complaint, it's that it gets a bit crowded here sometimes. Not so crowded that there's no place to stand - but crowded enough that it can be difficult to hold a massive chocolate-mint martini without spilling it on myself. I try to work around this problem by drinking quickly.
Marty's Martini Bar is a must-do if you're in Andersonville.
I simply adore this establishment. It is a gay bar, or gay-friendly bar, like no other in this city. It is chill, cozy, classy and laid back. It reminds me of several bars I frequented in Paris, France. The waiters all wear classy attire and the martinis are great and very strong, (1 and I am more than good to do). It gets crowded easily because of how small the place is, but instead of feeling crowded, it feels cozy to me. This place is unlike any other gay bar in Chicago.
