LOVE Yokozuna and will definitely go back... Highly recommended!
I walked in and ordered takeout for lunch and was greeted with friendly, great service.
I ordered the house salad with ginger dressing, a yellowtail roll, a salmon/avocado roll, and one of their special rolls, called the "Ozeki."
Everything was outstanding. The quality of the sushi is the best I have had since Tanoshii and Japonais, but the prices are so reasonable. The food is clearly very fresh, and their execution is impeccable. Even the basic salad and basic rolls were super tasty.
Quite simply, Yokozuna is THE place for sushi on the Northside! The staff goes out of their way to make your experience a great one. The fish is fresh, and the chefs see to it that there in nothing on the menu that isn't 5 stars! If you want some of the best sushi you're likely to have in the Edgewater neighborhood and the Northside Yokozuna is the place!
Review Source:LOVE this place. Â In case you missed it, the word I used was LOVE. Â The sushi is fresh, tasteful and at a good price point.
It is nowhere as pretentious as Agami on Broadway or as expensive. Â The atmosphere is uber-relaxed, the service is great, Ken makes you feel like you have been there 100 times even if it is your first time
The rice is pure sushi rice, not regular white rice that some places try and get away with. Â They have the standard rolls such as Philadelphia , New York and Dragon but also have some specialty rolls like The Cubs, Blackhawks and White Sox rolls to name a few. Â My favorite is the Cubs roll (even though I prefer the White Sox in baseball), Ozeki roll and the Sumo Roll.
I am not a maki fan, but my friends rave about them, they enjoyed the mackerel and the white tuna to name a few.
The Wasabi Shumai and the tempura are great appetizers as is the miso soup.
The next time you are craving sushi do not miss Yokozuna, it is conveniently located just west of the Bryn Mawr red line stop and just east of Broadway.
