Good food but too pricy to order for delivery even though I bit the bullet the first time looking for a decent Indian place. Well, I found good food and really enjoyed the Chicken Masala, but not enough to splurge and buy the whole town's dinner on my dime.
I figured I would write a review bc I see others saying pricing is good, but how many other places charge approx. $25/person? Seems high for me when I'm just trying to get some decent delivery options for a Monday night.
Here's my order:
Chicken Tika Masala x2 (for two people)
Plain White Rice (need to order separate)
Naan
That's it. For delivery (I'm not far away) it's $4 extra. Kinda stinks bc my guess is the restaurant takes $2 of that, and gives the driver $2.
So take into account that I tip the driver $5 on top of the pre-charged delivery fee (I always tip $5 to delivery drivers and feel cheap if I don't). Total it all up, and you're at $50.
It just doesn't make sense to be charging a $4 delivery fee when they're making the type of margin they already do. $11.99 per Chicken Masala dish should get you some rice or complete the meal, but they give you 7-10 cubes of chicken alone in a tub of sauce... not bad for a portion bc it is enough food for a meal, but why so much $$ when chicken is not expensive wholesale? I'm generally not a cheap person which is why writing this bothers me.. I just think the pricing is crazy, even if all Indian places have crazy pricing (which I'm finding)...
Here's my tip: If you order from Grubhub, that's great..but go to their direct website and order and you'll get 10% off your first order at this place... for me that still made it too expensive to re-order from this place (and I liked it the first time enough to tempt myself to order again)..but I backed out of the shopping cart and decided to write this review instead. Perhaps I'm angry hungry?
Now ordering elsewhere/different type of food/or finding something in the kitchen since it's too 'spensive for this guy for a Monday evening din'. If the owner is reading this, have you considered that a delivery fee could be losing you business?
