A Blackboard Eats deal got me here. Surprise, surprise -- I didn't know this place was a block from OverEasy Cafe, where pancakes are queen. Of course, I invited a friend to join me at Dolce. I wasted no time and ordered my fill on a chilly Monday morning.
CHAI TEA LATTE (with soy milk, about $3 or $4?): Goooooood.
BELGIAN WAFFLE (about $9?): It came with syrup and berries. The syrup and berries were cold. How many times...
[People, warm syrup (and room-temperature berries) on hot waffles is awesome. Do this, please.]
The waffle, while freshly made, still arrived lukewarm. That's a shame because the batter used had a great flavor.
BIETOLA SALAD (about $9?): They have a salad with ingredients that I wish I could eat more often (in combination) -- roasted beets, arugula, Manchego cheese, apples, and pistachios. It was ample and tasty. I really appreciated the surprise thin slices of cheese at the bottom.
The fairly large cafe was packed. I felt lucky to find a table for two. There were a lot of people with laptops and no one was really talking much. Of course, I didn't let that deter me from engaging in conversation. I liked dark wood interior, the decent bathroom, the coach seating in the front with fireplace, and the amiable staff. I would definitely stop by again if in the area, but not necessarily for my favorite breakfast fare.
