I absolutely loved Ora. A friend and I just went this past Tuesday and loved the dark and mellow atmosphere. My friend kept raving about the music which I had to agree was some great beats for a sushi joint.
We both ordered the sweet potato roll and I also ordered a salmon avocado roll. Simple rolls, yet filled with flavor. I am a tad biased because while I liked Ora's sweet potato roll, it still doesn't beat my favorite sweet potato roll at New Tokyo in Lakeview.
The service was just right, not overly attentive and now ignoring us either. It's a great little place to pick up some sushi and have a great time with friends.
One word....DYNAMITE! Seriously, try the dynamite roll. Amazing flavors. I went to Ora for the first time for a valentine's dinner. I've had sushi all over this city and have never felt so compelled to write a review until now. The spot is quaint, uncrowded, great service, and most importantly...has delicious, fresh sushi with unique flavor combinations along w/ your 'classic' faves.
We did have reservations made a few days in advance, but that's saying a lot for valentine's day that we were able to get an 8pm reservation. This place is a gem. Try it out and you won't be disappointed. In fact, it most likely will be your new favorite spot. If you're feeling adventurous, try the Spicy Octopus roll. YUM!
I came here in January at approximately my 1 year anniversary from my first visit and have to say that they still have the best sushi in chicago. Â The fish was super fresh and the appetizers were incredible. Â You must try the calamari and beef tataki appetizers. Â Their escarot is amazing and just such a buttery fish. Â I can go on and on but trust me this is as good as it gets.
