It's a small cozy place that offers up good service and a decent breakfast. I honestly wasn't even going to review this place since I don't get excited for breakfast unless I'm heading to Uncle Mike's(see review), but I decided to at least drop a line or two, so here goes.
I ordered some pickled herring, two eggs and some sort of Swedish sausage. The sausage was Kielbasa esque, almost like a huge old hot dog for breakfast. It was good due to the casing having a nice snap, which is just the way I like it...
Enjoy Suckas'!!!
Svea has  a sentimental value to me as I used to bring my daughter as a little girl and sit at the counter - she is almost 19! So whenever my husband and I go it brings back those cherished memories. My daughter is home for the weekend so we are heading over and so looking forward to it! Live the Swedish tease. I love their eggs - taste so fresh, the only place in Chicago this original Wisconsin girl thinks tastes like a fresh Wisconsin egg! Svea is my favorite breakfast place. Always good food and always a nice experience.
Review Source:I've only eaten here once, and although I thought the place had some real charm, it really lacked any distinction in its flavor. Â When it comes to brunch, and especially in Andersonville where you have so many wonderful restaurants to choose from, you should have something that separates you from the rest of the pack. I think this should especially be the case if you are advertising as an authentic Swedish restaurant. Â They have specialty names for their omelettes, but if you look its really just your boring classics like a ham and cheese omelet. Â The biscuits and gravy was a little dry and bland, and my potato pancakes were very boring. Â I brought some home, but ended up just throwing them at a friend as a joke. Â That was the most fun I had in relation to this restaurant. Â One strange criticism is that there were 4 different people who would come to refill your coffee at any moment it wasn't in your hand. Â Now its bad when you can't get your coffee refilled, but after I sugar and cream my coffee to my preference, I don't want it refilled every time I have two sips. Â The waitress was very pleasant and nice otherwise, but overall I would probably try a different brunch next time I go out in this area.
