This place is one of the few that you give three stars only because theres nothing else in the area that serves up OK breakfast 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Â This place comes in handy when you're looking for 4th meal on a party night. Â Everytime I come here its after a night of fun or mischief. Â I suspect many people in Chi have had similar stories. Â It's decent food, decent service. Â It's 3 stars.
Review Source:I think this was the location we went to at midnight after listening to a band at the Green Mill down the road.
Classic late night diner. No frills. Clean, well-lit, kept up. Old school with a huge sprawling menu that had photos of food.. that actually looked appetizing and exactly like what it was. I didn't see any annoying constraints on what you could have at what time other than daily specials on different weekdays. I went for a breakfast burrito, but the waffles and french toast looked amazing and slathered with everything. Will go back sometime for those.
Waitress was nice, prompt and refilled our beverages in a timely manner. Food was served on those giant white platter plates, and I'd asked for no hash browns and sauce on the side, and both were done without complaint or mistakes. Breakfast burrito was exactly what I expected and wanted. Added a side of biscuits and gravy.. and it was also exactly what I was craving-- huge white fluffy lumps of dough covered in tangy gravy, they broke apart under my fork and tasted buttery. Probably the best biscuits I've ever had.
Exactly what I wanted. Prices were reasonable.
Spent Thanksgiving morning here and was very impressed with the service and the food. Everything looked ans tasted delicious. I was so happy with my stuffed french toast. Finally my craving for sweet cheese stuffed inside of a golden batter-dipped toast topped with warm apple compote and whipped cream had been satisfied completely.
The service was beyond excellent as well. Maybe bc it was Thanksgiving? Who knows. Either way, I have no complaints about anything except the prices which, for a little diner I thought were on the steep side. But that's just me. Will definitely come back again!
