I hadn't heard much of this place, but a friend who lives nearby recommended it for our dinner meet-up. Â We got there at 5:30pm on a Saturday; it was pretty
busy and it only got busier as the night progressed. I ordered the Amish chicken entree which came with roasted corn and poblano chiles. It was well cooked and the corn really added a nice smokiness to everything. Also at the table were oysters and the monkfish dish. I didn't have the stomach to try either, but they were deemed delicious. Their beer and whiskey selection is impressive at something like 7 pages for the whiskey alone!!! We sat near the fireplace which was warm and cozy on a miserable winter night, and the space is big enough to be equal parts restaurant and bar hangout spot. Â We felt the pressure of the place being packed (with the servers coming over every 60 seconds to hover and leave) and headed to Lincoln Ave for a spot to have a drink and hang out. The Fountainhead is worth a visit...but if you're not there by 6pm you'll have quite a wait.
I really like the atmosphere in Fountainhead.  It is very intimate, and semi-romantic. I wouldn't mind coming here for a date. It's a good space for groups. And  I've heard: especially fitting for bourbon and whiskey connoisseurs.
I am not a bourbon or whiskey connoisseur, all I can comment on their selection is that it is quite a large one... I had a sip of my beau's old fashioned once, and whew---he did enjoy it!
The food is what I am most interested in.
Their menu is not large. My favorite snack is definitely their frites. What makes a cone of fries so good? The dipping sauces that come with it, I believe I had one with truffle, and another with curry. The dipping sauces are unique and creamy. And the fries are cooked and seasoned perfectly.
The Crab Polenta- small plate I must say is a true favorite for many of my friends. At $10 you get a bowl of this heavenly, 'high-end version of a KFC bowl (without the potatoes). But please do not mistake this for some cheapo bowl dish. Layered perfectly are: Crab, corn, crunchy roasted pecans, and mascarpone--delicious.
I also like their fish and chips- serving is small, but at $10, pretty reasonably priced and impressive in taste and texture. Good for no meat Fridays for Lenten season.
Overall, it  is a good experience. I would definitely recommend you check out their food menu, whilst exploring their large selection of fine bourbons, whiskey, and beer.
