I frequent the NorthCenter location as it's right outside my door, but would easily walk miles for their croissants.
Coffee is okay; most of their bolds are too much for the morning, and are generally very nutty and fruity (I prefer more cocoa hints). Â Bagels are delicious and always fresh; you MUST go early to get what you want because they run out faster than anywhere else. Â Breakfast bagels (egg salad warm instead of a cooked/fried egg, lunch meat/bacon/sausage, and cheese) are tasty and very filling, but I must admit that the egg salad aspect is a bit weird. Â Croissants are the #1 reason I go here; plain, chocolate, almond, cinnamon, spinach&cheese, cheese, etc. Â They are fresh, crispy, buttery, and will make you eat it like a starving piggy.
These series of events are not on the same day. I'm not that crazy.
My 1st breakfast sandwich I remember thinking, "Wow, this is good". When I ate my 2nd sandwich, I was all like, "Damn, this too is very good.". By my 3rd sandwich I declared this fine establishment as my favorite breakfast sandwich place in the city. Nice work, Beans & Bagels. Nice work.
Um this plac should be called Beans and Sometimes Bagels. I went there today around noon-- no bagels! WHY? I don't know. I settled for a pretty delicious Panini, but it's hard to enjoy it wen what I was really itching for was a damn bagel.
Not to mention they take forever to male their food, it's over priced, and it's goofy-hippie-feel-good-ness is annoying and campy.
Seriously though, I would have rather gone to any other bagel place, because I wanted a damn bagel. Great American Bagel and Chicago Bagel Authoirty do just fine! What the heck is your deal, Beans and (sometimes)Bagels?
