Village Taverna

Was just here for lunch during a very brief visit to the homeland.

Upon entering, my first impression was how airy the restaurant was.  Very high ceilings with a nice open floor plan.  Smoking to the left, non to the right, with a bar straight ahead.  Not too many people in here, probably because it's very new and suburbanites eat at chains too much.  And, ya know, it was Monday afternoon.

Service was prompt and very friendly, though our waitress seemed inexperienced.  Nice varied menu with lots of authentic greek dishes.  I had the saganaki and the quail.  The saganaki was, as it is seemingly everywhere, very tasty.  The quail itself was very nice, though the light breading on the outside was way too salty.  The other dishes that I was able to steal a bite of were pretty good as well.

Overall, I'd say that this is a good place (especially considering the other options in the area) that seems to have some quirks that will be worked out in time.  For a restaurant that's only been open a week or two, I was pleased.
