Wine Bar right in downtown Danville that also serves food from next door neighbor The Bridges. Â While I haven't tried the food, I have gone several times on weekend evenings and had a great time. Â
Hopefully you can find a spot at one of the comfy seating areas or high stool tables and enjoy a glass of wine and the fine local music that regularly plays on Saturday nights as it can get crowded. Â The wine selection is good, and they serve half glasses which is a good way to go if you want to try more of their choices without getting completely loaded. Â Also you can order by the bottle which is good for groups. Â I would say they pretty much serve similarly priced wines, everything is about $13-15 per red glass, would be nice to have a few better choices, and less pricey ones as well. Â
I can't comment on every act that performs, but the duo last Saturday was awesome. Â Mostly 30s-50s enjoying, not a kids place, but just a good upscale spot to enjoy a night out on the (albeit sleepy, suburban) town.
If you like wine, live music, good food, and a great atmosphere, THIS is the place to go when you're in the area, or even when you're NOT in the area! My friends and I can spend hours at this place and not even realize how much time has gone by. Really great place to unwind, relax, and enjoy everyone's company.
The Place -
The place itself is located in Downtown Danville right on the main street and surrounded by all the other great places in the area (That Bar, Sideboard (See Previous Review), etc.). The place is very well decorated and very intimate, but at the same time can offer a really great setting for a group of friends. A lot of glass panels to let in a lot of the natural light and to also give everyone a good view of the outside and not feel claustrophobic. One portion of The Vine has wine racks; however, even with this inside, there is still plenty of room to mix and mingle. There are couches, futons, bar tops, as well as a traditional bar with bar stools. All the times that we have went, although very busy, we were always able to find some place to sit. The decor itself goes with the vibe of the wine bar and makes for a very warm setting. Great job, Vine! **5/5 Stars**
The Service -
The service is absolutely fantastic and very friendly. The numerous times my friends and I have visited the place we were treated as if we were regulars or as if the waitresses had known us forever even outside of the Vine. For a consumer, exceptional customer service is always a plus in my book. When we walked in, we were greeted and promptly told to find a place wherever we can and if we can't, feel free to stand near the bar and they would gladly accomodate us as best as they can until seats open up. Once we were situated, we were asked if we were given the wine list and asked if we needed food menus. Because it's a wine bar, sometimes food isn't the main focus on everyone's mind, which is understandable. In this case, we came in for dinner as well so we requested their full dinner menu, which stops after 11pm, I think. The awesome customer service continued throughout the night and made for a very great experience! **5/5 Stars**
The Food -
When people think food at a wine bar, they think of tapas or small plates since as I mentioned before, not everyone is thinking about food when they come to visit a wine bar. In addition to the tapas and small plates, they also have a full dinner menu and if you have the ability to come to The Vine for dinner, I would HIGHLY suggest you do so because the food is of GREAT quality. A few of my friends had small plates themselves; however, I was hungry and the description of the New York Strip peaked my interest so I went with that (See Picture). It's served with cognac butter, edamame, applewood smoked bacon, potato hash, and a red wine demi sauce. I ordered the steak Medium Well and it came out, not only perfectly cooked, but tender and juicy as well. The bacon was crispy and smokey and added a great flavor profile to the steak. The potato hash and edamame made for a great contextual difference and the wine sauce rounded everything off and brought the dish together. It was a REALLY good dish. For dessert, I got the creme brulee and although it was very tasty, there wasn't anything too special about it, but satisfied my need for something sweet to cap off my dinner! **5/5 Stars**
Overall -
Like I mentioned, The Vine at Bridges is a MUST go-to place, especially if you're into the ambiance of a wine bar and the environment itself. GOOD live music is played there during all of the peak days (Fri, Sat, Sun, I believe) and it just makes the place that much more enjoyable. I can't wait to go back again and treat myself to another great time! Thanks for everything, Vine!! Enjoy everyone!
Don't know why I've never reviewed The Vine before considering I'm hear almost every week for wine tasting but this place is amazing.
The food comes from Bridges and they bring it over super fast so you know it's yummy.
Eggrolls and Mushroom Pizzetta are always amazing. Risotto tastes like bacon soup (which is definitely not a bad thing- it's actually awesome)
Wine selection is amazing and the staff is incredibly knowledgeable and entertaining.
They have live music on Thursdays and it's always really talented musicians. When there's no live music they have an up to date playlist that includes great electronic, easy listening and soft rock. Hard to explain but I got to listen to Kaskade while drinking wine so I'm a happy girl.
Consistently great....
Friendly and quick service from bartenders
Creative menu options, a step above the others in "bar food" for sure
Laid back atmosphere
I've been here a few times, one of the nights was when they did their Toys for Tots fundraiser. The place was packed and the live band was an added bonus.
I'm a local and will definitely be back...
The place is OK, a pretty decent place to try a variety of wine. Â The bartenders are a bit slow, but I've come to expect that after being in CA for six months. Â The patrons can be somewhat comical and vary depending on the night. Â Monday-Wednesday, you'll find it sparsely populated with guys and gals sizing each other up on "date night," while Thursday-Saturday brings out the "I'm standing on third base but think I hit a home run" crowd from the surrounding area. Â Please don't be a pompous ass, honey. Â It's Danville. Â They built an establishment to enjoy wine, which should imply a certain amount of sophistication. Â If you want to misinterpret that for being a flake, move to LA so I can talk to some decent people who also have an interest in wine.
Review Source:My mom, sister, aunt and I had a fabulous time here watching one of the Giants play off games, drinking, and trying different appetizers. Our server, whose name was Tiffany or Stephanie (??) was so sweet, I wanted her to join us! There was live music a little after we got there, and the food and drinks came out fast. I can't wait to come back!
Review Source:I am a fan of this place. I do not usually frequent Danville, but stopped in to grab a glass of wine with a friend. The young lady that served us was very nice. This is a great place if you just want to have a glass of wine or eat dinner and wine. It can be pricey. The environment is older Danville ladies and some men. A mature crowd but fun crowd. Everyone seems happy when they are in here so the vibe is real nice. I will be back!
Review Source:very awesome set up !!!
they run out of a wine selling store, all of the shelves were moved to the side.
After first round of wine tasting flights we were ready to set the cam there :)
Food did not click at all, but the wine, the service, the band, the whole overall feel well enough subbed for it
GO GO GO you will LOVE IT !!!!!
I lke Downtown Danville a lot! A group of friends and I stopped by The Vine before dinner for some happy hour specials on a Thursday. They have a wonderful selection of wines and all at great prices even if you don't order off the HH menu. I got a flight of reds with some recommendations from the waiter. The pours were generous and I really enjoyed the flight. Other friends got different flights or just wine by the glass. We also ordered a few appetizers (served from Bridges). We had the
Warm Phyllo Wrapped Brie Cheese, Wild Mushroom Pizzetta, Â Â
Blue Cheese, Potato, Spinach Croquettes, and Moroccan Olive Hummus. All were great complements with our wine. There's plenty of seating either at the bar, tables or on the sofas. It can be great for a date, girls night out or group hang out.
This is a great place to go after dinner for a glass of wine or a flight. Â They have live music and so forth. Â It has the ambience of a nightclub rather then just a wine bar so all I can caution is if you want a place to go up to a counter, discuss differing wines with the staff as you taste flights, this is really not on that level. Â They do flights but it's very spread out and mostly the servers just bring you the flights and dissapear. Â This isn't a bad thing but it is more of a nightclub then a traditional wine bar or wine tasting set up that you may see in Sonoma or Napa.
Still a fun place to go to after dinner and they are open late which is nice.
Good Happy Hour. Â It had a nice crowd last night (Friday the 5th) and the service was good. Â The LULU Pinot Noir is a gem, and I had never heard of it before.
They have one TV, although its not a sports bar type place. Â I like that, as most wine bars I have been to do not have a TV. Â I like to at least glance at a ball game, even if I'm with friends.....just to keep up with the score.
The bartenders were very friendly, and it seems that they all love their jobs....I think it helps that they are "wine people" as their suggestions were spot on.
I will be back....
Went here during happy hour. Female server was pleasant and helpful. Ordered wine special (2 glasses of wine for $10) as well as the house nuts, cocquettes, and truffle pizzette. Food was alright but the ambiance and wonderful attitude of server (kinda looks like actress Tara Reid's younger sister) made for a nice visit.
Also, while I was browsing their wine selection, the owner, I believe, offered a wine sample to help with the decision making process. He seemed pretty knowledgeable about wines but I wanted to spend more time perusing instead of feeling slightly trapped into listening to him ramble about wines.
Would probably visit if I'm in the area once again.
Fantastic local wine bar... upscale with live music (salsa the other night!) and younger clientele than most of Danville (yay for 30-somethings!)- this place is a treat.
Wines are amazing, decor and ambiance totally fabulous. Live music a dream. Serves food from Bridges' menu. Only thing that would make it better would be having vegan options on the menu.
Although we ate at Bridges restaurant tens of scores of times during the years we lived in Danville, this gem of an associated wine bar and bottle shop was not yet in business when we moved away. Â Too bad for us because based on our first visit during a recent stay in Danville, we'd have been regular customers.
BOTTOM LINE:
Literally hundreds of bottles of wine for sale in the bottle shop, a creative and continually changing wine list for by the glass options in the wine bar, decent prices, happy hour specials, friendly and knowledgeable service and just funky enough "all people are welcome" interior. Â The Vine is on our "go to" recommendation list for wine lovers visiting Danville. Â
WHAT'S NOT TO LIKE?:
Well, maybe that their food menu is a more limited than one might expect with parent restaurant Bridges about a stone's throw away. Now that we have the menu at fantastic wine bar Vino Vino in Austin (yes, Texas - seriously http://www.yelp.com/biz/… ) as model in that, it is the standard by which we measure others. But that's not enough of a "ding" to deduct a star, so five stars it is!
WINE BAR VARIETY & VALUE:
The Vine had a nicely broad menu by the glass letting you explore the world of wine, just as a wine bar should. Â Arranged as options to create your own flight or packaged in creative recommended flights or to order alone. Three ounce pours ranged from $5 - $6 and six ounce pours from $10 - $15. Â For the quality of the wine, ambiance and service, we thought this was a pretty reasonable deal. Given this is Danville, after all, and things are spendy in this neck of the woods.
SERVICE:
Striking the perfect balance of friendly and efficient to match the setting, the server could answer our questions and make recommendations. Â I imagine a wine novice and a connoisseur would feel equally welcome and at home here with this kind of service. Â We fall in the middle of that spectrum and we felt very comfortable. Â To round out the good service, the wine was served in good quality stemware and at the right temperatures.
WHAT WE TRIED:
I tried two whites that were new to me. Â
* NV sparkling Vouvray by Domaine Vigneau (sp? - France?)
* 2010 relase of an Italian varietal, Pecorino Offida, from Marche, Italy
The former would be on my bottle purchase list next time. Â The latter was a good chance for me to know that varietal isn't my thing.
We were there on a Wednesday, which is a "create your own flight" day and my husband took advantage of that to put together what he called "around the state" of California wines.
*An Albarino (Lodi) from Odesia
* A Pinot Noir (Santa Lucia) from Sandler
* A Rhone Blend (Santa Barbara) from Sans Liege.
He said he'd drink them all again.
HAPPY HOUR:
Monday through Friday, 5p - 7p there are some specials offered. On Wednesday you can create your own flight of any three wines on their tasting menu for $15.00.
ACCESSIBILITY: Â
Level in. Â All on one floor. Â And here's a big "woohoo" for those of us who have trouble boosting ourselves into the high perch stools at bar height tables and for whom "falling off a bar stool" has special meaning: The Vine has an adequate amount of seating at standard height tables on banquette bench seating too. Â
PS:
1) If you can't find what you're looking for by the bottle here, you might toodle out to Blackhawk Plaza and take a look at the wine selection at Drager's market there. Â An impressive selection of wine and one of the best collections of Italian wines we've seen in any retailer in the area.
2) Given the limited menu, we skipped the eats at The Vine and walked across the street to Il Contro for dinner. Â A good Italian food experience that we'd recommend to other visitors looking for a convenient option to follow wine tasting.
3) Parking is in short supply in downtown Danville - so it goes.
This is an excellent place to gather a group of friends. Come during happy hour when they offer flights of wine for $15 and a glass for $5.50. If you check in on foursquare, you can unlock a deal!
We ordered a plate of nuts for $1 and a wild mushroom pizzetta for $6. This deal is on the happy hour menu which runs from 5-7pm daily.
There was also live music that started around 8:30pm which is when the crowd tends to get bigger and louder.
Our server was great and she even gave us separate checks. Overall, I'd recommend their happy hour. It has a nice ambiance. One of us joked that all they needed was a fireplace to complete the place.
A great place for a girls night out, or a boys night out at that!
Frank, the manager, greeted us warmly and thanked us for choosing The Vine at Bridges for our girls night out.
Happy Hour prices Monday through Friday from 5 pm until 7 pm, you can try an excellent wine flight, a 3 ounce, or a 6 ounce glass of wine.
If you make it in on Tuesdays, it's happy hour all night long and every Wednesday night your can choose any 3 wines to create your own personalized wine flight. They have so many wines to choose from, that it would be tough to pick the best three!
I heard that on Sundays and Mondays they have a Burger & Beer Combo for $10, which is a pretty good price point, considering it's Danville.
There were 8 of us girls that night, with perfect seating at the only long table they have, and an excellent vantage point for the live music at 8:30 pm that they apparently have every night!
Tonight's performance was either Chris Estes or Dave Kelleher doing excellent acoustic renditions of Mumford and Sons, Foster the People, and Coldplay.
Lindsay, our server, was great -- friendly and knowledgeable about all of the wines on the list. Our waters never remained un-filled for too long, and she was always nearby to bring us food and wine.
Recommendations:
2009 Clesi "Convivo" Blend, Pasa Robles
Togarashi Nuts - $1 -- a small bowl overflowing with delicious roasted and spiced nuts of all varieties such as cashews, almonds, peanuts, etc.
Wild Mushroom Pizzetta - $6 -- with Parmesan Cheese, Herbs, and Truffel Oil
Blue Cheese, Potato, Spinach Croquettes - $4
Our lastest trip to The Vine was a pleasant reminder of why we were fans in the first place. Was it perfect, no, but our last visit makes us want to return to see if The Vine will continue to be in our rotation.
Thanks to Frank for reaching out after my review. Sometimes it is the little things that turn the tide.
Located next to Bridges (famously known for its scene in Mrs Doubtfire) the Vine owned by Bridges is a cozy wine bar and store offering a much higher quality selection than your local Bev' Mo and premiere service over the Costco likeTotal Wine and More (though I don't detest the tastings for $.01)
Ran in here last minute to pick up a Super Tuscan NYE dinner party and wine tasting. I knew that The Vine would have plenty of wine and was pretty sure they would have what I needed...and I was right!
Even though the guys were setting up for their NYE event, David happily stopped blowing up party balloons and moving tables to help me pick out a bottle. He is very knowledgeable about their wines and quickly made a couple suggestions and poured me a taste too! Â I ended up purchasing a 2009 Promis by Gaja; it had such an amazing story and highly recommended so I had to take it home with me. While I didn't win the tasting contest, everyone definitely did enjoy it; Â oddly enough, the winning bottle was the same wine only a 2008! Maybe they cheated and had it aging away their cellar...what a difference a year makes!
Anyway, I am waiting to return to the Vine for drinks, food, the full atmosphere etc to update my rating. I am sure that once I do, TV will be getting an additional star update. I've eaten at Bridges and definitely enjoy their happy hour!
Great service and competitive prices! I definitely will stop in again the next time I'm in town.
I only rate The Vine as a store. We bought there wines for the large dinner at the Bridges restaurant, located next door ( same owner, so there is no corking fee charge for the wines, but gratuities are assessed on the actual cost of wine).
Outstanding selection and service. Large focus is on California wines, including hard to find bottles such as Leviathan or Kamen, but there are plenty of wines from around the world. Prices are very reasonable.
Dave Gibson provided an outstanding service and great advice - out of 6 different wines we have selected, all 6 were crowd pleasers, which is quite rare.
Highly recommended!
I met a couple girlfriends at The Vine last night and the ambience was terrific. Â It wasn't too crowded or loud, even with the live music.
The flights were all $15 and there was a good variety of reds and whites to choose from. Â I love reds, so I went with "Viva Espana." Â I paired my flight with the Seared Steak ....YUMMY! Â I also got the hummus with chips and creme brule. Â My friends ordered the Bree and could not stop raving about it.
Our server, Stephanie, was not so great. Â During the 3 hours we spent at The Vine, we had to ask for water 3 times prior to finally getting it, had to flag her down each time we wanted to order something, ask for utensils, and get the check. Â When we stepped away to say hello to another friend that had just walked in, we found that our half eaten desserts had been cleared from the table!
The live music was great, although the music selection could have been more cheerful. Â Most of the patrons were women, and the singer played love songs the entire night. Â
When I first arrived at bar, Frank introduced himself to me and asked for an honest review, and here it is.
I look forward to my next happy hour at The Vine, rockin' music, and better service.
And P.S. it would be awesome if the windows could open up so we could enjoy the summer breeze! Â Outdoor seating would also be a plus.
After work on Monday, I got together with some of my East Bay hiking and running friends at The Vine. Â Happy Hour prices are always appreciated and I had the two wine tastes for $10. Â The Prisoner was VERY good!
I didn't have any of the appetizers, but really enjoyed seeing my friends again and enjoyed the excellent wine.
I was recently at the The Vine for a birthday gathering. Â We had a group of 15 people and we were lucky enough to grab the couches by the front door. Â Our server was great and keep the bottles of wine and whatever we wanted coming. Â
I would visit again and go the individual tasting route with my girlfriend so we could try some new things and some of the small plates.
Pros:
Good Wines - Great recommendations - Gamba 2007 Zinfandel
Great Service for a party of 15+ our service kicked ass
Cons:
Food was delivered through the front door so we had someone running food by the table all the time. Â Inefficient and needs improvement.
Has the potential to get super loud. The band that was playing was pretty mellow with Bongo drums and some guitar. Throw some singing into the mix and you have the potential for a small rock concert. I would like the ability to carry on a conversation without having to scream. Call me old fashioned.
Theme Music for this venue:
Rodrigo y Gabriela or Flamenco Music. Â The band Cascada was very good.
This place was a pleasant surprise! You hear Bridges and think pretentious and classy, both of which apply to some extent to The Vine, but they make it work. There is a nice modern decor and ambiance, live music, and a pretty excellent yet pricey wine list. Just beware of the old men coming to stare at younger women.
We got the Sonoma Chardonnay taster - 3 3 oz. pours for $15. . All of the wines were delicious and I couldn't decide my favorite! And it turns out to be about a glass and a half of wine but it was enough. Price was worth it for the quality although it's hard to find a single glass of wine for less than $9-10 . Food portions were small but looked good. I like the wine=)
We came in on Friday night for happy hour and enjoyed two tastes for $10.
The pours were very generous and I loved the dry Riesling and champagne that I picked out.
Nice atmosphere and great happy hour prices. Also, they had the Celtics game on, so that gave The Vine some extra Brownie points.
My bf and I never really do anything in Danville. It seems we've always just passed by and the whole town looks kind of dead. Â However, it was another random Wednesday night for us and we wanted to do something. I was thinking wine bar and we always go to Walnut Creek so we wanted something different. Yelp to the rescue we found a place that was still open and in Danville.
As we walked in the place was very mellow and had dim lighting very romantic and intimate. Â The place itself is very large since the other half (which was closed since we came here at night) is their wine store. Â We were promptly greeted by a server and took a seat at the empty couches near the door. Â Couches are comfy bonus!
They had a pretty good listing of wine. Â A lot of the wines I did notice and knew they were really good. I decided to do the "Vacation in a Bottle" flight while my boyfriend had the chardonnay flight. Â As our wines came we took a sip of our first glass in our flights and I liked it but something was off and my bf agreed. Â Then we discovered how big of wine snobs we were...we took sips of the other wine and one of the chards was a Frank Family one and we've had it before and after tasting that we knew the server got our wine flights mixed up. Â LOL. Â Not a big deal we just swapped each others flights and drank away. Â
Besides the mistake the service and ambiance was great. We could actually talk to each other and the servers were nice enough to light candles around us to set the mood. Â We could've been knit picky about the mix up but I didn't want to ruin our night so it was all ok. Â I guess that's why I took 1 star off. Â Just a caution to wine enthusiasts out there though...
We recently returned for an early Friday fight of wine and burger. We really like the Vine and are not sure why we don't get there more often. The service was friendly and prompt. The wine was wonderful and the burger was juicy and tasty. The place had a good vibe (2 for 2). We started with the pizzette which was perfectly cooked and very flavorful. Â
I rated it a Five but Mary felt we should have received a wine and snack menu when we sat dow.. Â Instead with were given a wine menu and then we asked for a food menu. Â
We look forward to our next visit and hopefully it won't take as long to get back there
I've seen my future. And I'm sad. I'm so, so sad.
So the wife and I, determined to recapture some of the spirit of the city life, decide to meet up with some friends at The Vine. We've passed it heaps of time and have always been curious. On the evening in question, it's a happening place with live music and decent wines. A little crowded as there's not a lot of places to grab a seat but we're still young and spry so standing around swirling some vino is right up our alley.
Unfortunately, "young and spry" could only apply to us and a handful of the wines. It seems that every 50 and 60 year old woman who thinks she can fit into a pair of pleather pants is here with her 60 year old husband wearing his favorite tweedy and mismatched slacks. Wait. I take that back. There's also the handful of 30 and 40 year old males busy getting hit on by said pleather-clad ladies while their hubbies are regaling each other with stories about their bank accounts and stock portfolios.
I'd be tempted to think it a one-off if I didn't read an SF Gate story days later which talked about the cougar mixer which was hosted here a week or so later.
So this is what I have to look forward to as the babies pop out, my hair continues to fall out, and my wife and I become more and more desperate to prove that we're still hip. I fully expect that in 20 years, someone will be writing just as snarky a review as I'm writing now - only I'll be the target.
And that makes me sad. Damn sad. Sorry, The Vine at Bridges. I'm sure you're a fine establishment. But you're hitting a little too close to home.
Rude & Pretentious wait staff. Â Stopped in for a drink before dinner downtown, first off thought wow this place is pretty nice and loung-y. Then we waited for 10 minutes to be helped and once they brought us drinks they never came back to check on us or offer us another round. They weren't too busy as there was 3 of them and only 2 other tables they were just too cool.
UPDATE: i want to add that a day or two after i left my not-so-great review of the vine i received a nice note from the manager(Frank ??) apologizing for the experience i had.
My wife and I had an absolute blast here! Â Got home on a Friday night and our daughter had made plans which meant the folks were free. Â I had a hankering for a wine bar (do you ever get those?) and my wife was game so I dove into my Yelp app on my iPhone: Â Bingo! Â
We found a cozy spot right away and as things would turn out, we'd be there to watch the early crowd leave and the late-nighters arrive (getting an idea as to how this night went???). Â We decided to try the flights, decently priced in the $15-$23 range and healthy-sized servings. Â I went for the Simply Red and my wife went for the Spanish Flight (not fly!). Â
We also ordered some appetizers (a pizzeta and some crispy shrimp...both were delish). Â Our waitress was simply one of THE best servers I've ever encountered. Â She actually messed things up 3 or 4 times (no biggies) but she was so funny and friendly, you could only love her! Â OK, maybe the wine and the ciompliment on my shirt were an impact here.... ;-)
For our post-flights glasses, the manager came over and helped my wife find something to suit her, and for the rest of the night we were totally taken care of. Â A band came in and provided a perfect level of ambiant music. Â Niner pre-season game was on....something for everybody! Â We also sat next to a couple who were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary (they came in before AND after their dinner) and they were delightful to chat with.
I'm leaving out lots of details (funny stories about this night) but I can't wait to go back!
We love going to the Vine. The bartenders (Kristin and Nate) are great. The atmosphere is super fun. Â It has a great vibe and people are really friendly.
The only cons are the flat screen TV...(take it down or turn off the sports game) and the live music doesn't match the vibe...
All and all we think it's a great place...c you there.
I've been here 4 times now and have had a great time each time. Â What I do find is that it is unpredictable in how busy it will be. Â The third time I went, I thought it would be a great place to catch up with friends and it turned out to be absolutely packed. Â The last time, it was sparse ... so it seems to be a surprise each time.
Bottom line is that I like the Vine. Â The service is great and friendly. Â They are knowledgeable and helpful in deciding on wines. Â They have a great variety and I've also enjoyed the wine tasting, which has been very generous. Â The food is from Bridges and I love ordering the green beans and mushrooms from the regular menu. Â All in all, one of my new favorite hangouts in Danville.
I haven't had much of a desire to return here.. not even sure why not. Â Probably because I can get decent wine by the bottle at Safeway or BevMo, and there are so many other options in the area to get great wine by the glass.
I wanted to celebrate a special occasion with my girlfriend, Ayelet, and she requested that we meet at The Vine. Â I felt neutral about the choice, but she'd been raving about her experiences here, so I felt like I needed to give it a chance. Â So glad I came with an open mind....
What a great choice!! Â We sat at the bar (in front of a nice, big, flat screen TV - note to self to return to watch the Giants while enjoying delicious vino sometime in the near future).
I loved the decor and the vibe. Â High ceilings, nice ambiance, comfortable seating and our bartender could not have been more charming.
We came on a Wednesday night, when they feature a "build your own flight". Â I ordered their "buttery chardonnay flight" prior to realizing they had a special going on. Â I probably would have ordered 2 chards and 1 pinot... but the wines I tasted were still pretty great.
We also ordered from the tasting menu from Bridges next door. Â Loved that we could enjoy the bright, spacious ambiance with yummy food from Bridges. Â We got the mushroom pizzetta, beet salad and a cheese plate (NOTE to Vinoteca around the corner: Â this is a REAL cheese plate, with substance, priced RIGHT!!!) Â
I definitely want to come back when they have music playing on the weekends... but I highly recommend The Vine on a weeknight when the price is right, it's not too crowded and you're sure to enjoy good food & vino.
This was a fun local hangout, great place to hang out and enjoy some live music over a nice glass of wine. Great selection of wines & nice selection of munchies.
If they don't have what you want on the wine list, just ask... They had ours!
My only complaint is that the band stopped playing at 10pm on a Friday... FAR too early in my opinion.
The employees were very attentive and friendly. Our server came over about every 10 minutes to make sure we had a full glass (we bought a bottle).
People were in jeans as well as dressed up, but it does have a "classier" feel rather than "casual".
A few of my friends and I hit up The Vine last night. Â It's a nice bar section is nice. Â We each had a drink and decided that we were just too young to be there. Â It was funny watching a waiter run back and forth to the restaurant with the food through the front door. Â You would think that they would use a back door. Â
I did call and talk to the manager the day before to let him know that there would be 15 of us meeting there. Â Thankfully everyone showed up after we moved on because he didn't save an area for us like he said he would. Â The waitress what nice and asked a gentleman if he would mind moving so that we can use the front area. Â That was nice of her to do and we appreciated it a ton.
I went here on a Friday evening to meet up with my parents who had heard that this place just opened. Â They are owned by Bridges so it's classy, good quality of food and wine, and located right in front of the building. Â My fiance and I had a good time laughing at all the cougars dancing and laughing to the live music.
They had a good selection of wine and the food was good (it is made at Bridges and walked over to The Vine). Â There is limited seating but standing was fine and there was seating at the bar, at tables and some small couches. Â The place is divided into the wine purchasing area and the area we were in. Â The cougars took advantage of both areas to shake their groove things.
Overall this place is very chill with an over 30 age average. Â We did not enjoy the live band because they were so loud and not appropriate for this type of venue.
This is a great place to taste different wines from almost everywhere. Â My boyfriend and I were hanging out here with some friends on the weekend, and we all thought that the vibe was chill. Â Seating was a little scarce, but a lot of people cleared out by 11pm, so it wasn't a problem for long!
The live music was a great addition, especially because they were playing throwback songs that made all the Danville/San Ramon Cougars dance in unison - it was hilarious.
I appreciated the ambiance, but I don't know about the age range. Â I will have to go back again to see if my sentiments remain the same.
