I want to first start off by saying that the staff was completely rude.  I went in to use a Groupon and was treated like I was using food stamps. Many times I was told that I had to mention my Groupon when I made the reservation (Which I did).  They constantly had to remind me and not in a nice way.  The food was not even anything to write home about either.  I had the Bife à Portuguesa Shell, which was probably the most mediocre version I have ever had.  I will not be back and I will tell as many people as I can not to come here.  Horrible rude service and bland average food a recipe for disaster.
Review Source:Came here last Friday for a dinner date with my girlfriend. Â You can tell right when you walk in you're in for an upscale dinner. Â The spot was a little more than half full and we were seated immediately. Â The waiter didn't bother us too much, and we we never left wondering where he went. Â For the app we went w the Calamari. Â It was super tender, not rubbery like some places. Â For the dinner I had the grilled shell steak in garlic sauce. It was topped with ham and a fried egg (I must admit I went outside of my comfort zone on this order). Â It was amazing though and I'm so glad I tried something new. Â The steak was cook exactly how I ordered and the dish was presented very well. Â I seriously cannot wait to go back and order this same dish.
Review Source:My family lives in Roselle Park. Small town, not too many places to eat besides A local sun tavern and a couple pizzerias. I ate here for a family celebration dinner in the beginning of May. Â It was a Thursday night around 9:30pm and there were only 2 other tables there. Our food took a while, but understandable, we ordered the skirt steak special. For appetizer we ordered calamari and shrimp. The calamari itself was good but the marinara seemed watered down and tasteless. The garlic shrimp was good. We ordered Sangria but it just seemed like there was just juice. As a Portuguese restaurant, I was expecting the Sangria to be better than that.
Came our food, we mostly ordered the skirt steak special and my mother ordered a shrimp and rice entree. "Potatoes" were just chips. Entree comes with string beans, but when we approached the waiter, he said it doesn't. But clearly, it stated string beans. Steak was okay. Very small portion. My mother looked at her shrimp entree and was confused. The shrimp from the entree was the same shrimp as the appetizer.. she asked why she even got the entree when she could have just settled with the shrimp appetizer.
Anyway, service was not great either. they were just rude and impatient. You could tell they didn't have great customer service. A different waitress came to ask for drinks, and my cousin was in the bathroom. After she came back, she happened to ask our real waiter if she can have a sprite. And his response was... "... Didn't she just ask if anyone wanted anything?" WHAAAAT? Yes, the waitress did her job and asked everyone for drinks, but someone happened to not be present at the time, therefore, why would you even say something like that? He claims to have 15 years of experience, but if he did, he would have WAY better customer service..
not a place I'd go back to.
I came here twice with family to celebrate special occasions and had good meals and service both times. Â I've never gone when it was very busy, so I can't attest to how the service is at peak times. Â The waiters I've had were always attentive and the owner also comes around and checks on the tables.
The last time I went, on a weekday evening, I ordered the skirt steak with asparagus which was delicious. Â Everyone else enjoyed their steaks as well. Â We also ordered desserts, strawberry cheesecake and tiramisu, which were both great. Â The only complaint I have is that the last time I was there it was very cold inside, perhaps because there are many walls of windows. Â It looks like they have private party areas and patio seating for when its warmer, which I look forward to trying in the future.
I have to agree with Leah B....wanted to like this place, but didn't.  My husband and I went last night  - to kick off our weekend.  It was disappointing.  Much of our conversation over the mediocre dinner was critiquing things that lacked. Â
We thought we were being seated by a hostesss. Â Turned out - she took our order, too. Â But someone else took our drink order. Â Someone else served us our food. Â My fries were forgotten..then delivered by someone else. Â No one asked if we needed anything. Â My husband put his empty beer glass at the end of table, seeing if anyone would notice. Â Nope. (Missed opportunity for a bigger bill on their part). Â I tried to flag down the hostess/waitress for more water...no luck. Â Granted, it was a busy Friday...but this place was disfunctional. Â It's simply better to have one waiter to a table so they can focus on you, and you know who to ask - for something. Â It seemed we didn't get good service because they all thought the other had taken care of us. Â Bad formula.
Nothing special about the $$$ food we ordered. If it were, we'd let the service slide.
Took a while to get our check. Â Never a big deal on a busy night -- except when you're adding up all the other negatives. Â
So, unfortunately - all together...it's unlikely we'll return to Vinhus soon. Shame - Â it's a cozy, unique restaurant/bar. Â
:(
I really wanted to like this place. But I did not... It is beautiful inside, great atmosphere and music. Service began promptly and we ordered sangria. It was ok. A different waiter came after we recieved our sangria and this about when everything went downhill.. Ordered the scallops with corn and asparagus for our appetizer which was suprisingly good. Unfortunately, they sent us the wrong app the first time and ended up waiting 15 more minutes for the right one to come out. I asked to see a drink menu but the waited offered us sangria on the house.. which was nothing more then free juice. I have the grilled seafood in green sauce which for $25 came with a pot 1/4 full of frozen, not fresh, mussells, clams, a baby shrimp, and a small lobster tail. Oh, and the green sauce was not green at all and when I asked the waiter about it, he pointed out that "it has green stuff in it." ( i think he was referring to the parsley, but who knows... Date had the steak with egg on top, side of house made potato chips and lets just say the chips were the best thing on the plate and our cat had a nice breakfast the next day. Didn't stay for dessert, was pretty disgusted by the service and food and just wanted out of that place. Oh well, maybe someday we will get a decent place to have dinner in Roselle Park.
