Once upon a time...this place may have been good BUT not anymore! Went here with my father on Father's Day. My dad's girlfriend picked the place saying it was "a wonderful place to eat by the water" One would think a great idea on Father's Day.
First off, it was mildly inconvenient that they did not take reservations for Father's Day. However, they did suggest to arrive at 4pm for appetizers then at 5pm dinner orders would be taken. We were told we could get a table for 4 on the deck...We did not. Our waitress paid little or no attention to our needs at the table (like getting water, etc).
Second, oh the food. If Gordon Ramsey ever step food in this place he would shut it down!!! Upon first arriving on this dingy restaurant, we trekked our way down the very steep ramp to the restaurant floating on the Sacramento River. Once, we were seated by our waitress, drinks were taken and served promptly. I ordered a ice tea with lemon, I was sadden to notice the lemon slice looked as if it had been cut several days before (rather dehydrated). Â Our appetizers, we ordered the combo sampler, since most of us did not know what Sturgeon was. The whole platter was gross. Cold salmon served with a triangle of cream cheese, a slice of sturgeon (also ice cold), shrimp was served with legs and shell still on (one shrimp was even brown, like it was bruised or old) the chicken was drowning in Cajun seasoning...so strong it was uneatable. I am not someone who shy's away from spicy foods. It is clear to me who every is cooking in the kitchen is not tasting their foods before serving it to customers.
For dinner, I ordered a simple salad and added "grilled chicken". At every restaurant n the world grilled chicken has little or no seasoning, maybe salt and pepper...NOT HERE! At this restaurant it's drowning in more Cajun season...AWFUL!!! To boot, the dressing had more of that god awful seasoning. My boyfriend ordered a steak sandwich and literally received a piece of steak, cut in half and placed on two small dinner rolls, the dinner rolls looked as if they had been buttered and herb-ed. That's it nothing else. NOT tomatoes, lettuce, onions, or sauce. When he asked the waitress for sauce, she immediately brought him A1 steak sauce (as if this solves everything). My father and his girlfriend ordered the same dish a fresh catch of the day special, snapper with some white rice and black beans. They both said it was rather bland and lacked character.
Lastly, was my adventure to the restroom...it was basically a port-a-potty on the water. It smelled very strongly of urine. It was not even remotely clean. Paper towels, toilet paper were littered all over the bathroom, and upon closer examination once on the potty, it was clear and no one had cleaned this restroom in years... maybe decades. If this is what there restroom looks like, god, i can only imagine what the kitchen looks like.
I was hopelessly optimistic about this place because i heard from my father and his girlfriend that it was good years ago..i lack to see the positive reviews that others have posted on YELP.
I WILL NEVER COME BACK TO THIS RESTAURANT... I almost want to report this place to the health department!
