Yay this is a great venue! I'm sad I haven't heard of this earlier. But better late than never!
I saw Rebelution, J Boog & Hot Rain back in March. I was second in line and got to be front row fairly easily. It was a great show, although I did notice that security was waaayyyyy hardcore, like, people couldn't move a muscle. Lol. But I mean I guess that's good in a way.
I'll be returning to see J Boog and Hot Rain in a a couple of weeks :)
*scratches head*...I've heard some reviews on here about the sound quality. Â I saw INTRONAUT & Animals as Leaders & meshuggah (yes, that is my order of awesomeness for them :-P) there, all with a complex mix of sound, and they all sounded amazing. Â The venue size was great, good seating/standing size but felt very intimate still. Â I would go here again for sure. Â I didn't see the place as a dump or having poor sound quality. Â It was a standard venue as far as cleanliness & all that, and the sound was very good in my and two others' opinions. Â The ticket prices were very reasonable too. Â I've watched a lot of bands I enjoy having doubled their ticket prices almost overnight, and this venue was very reasonable still for the show I saw.
Review Source:I hate when I find out that a band I want to see is playing at Ace. Â Here's why:
All ages
The place is a dump
The sound quality sucks
Tickets aren't mailed to you, and if you do will call, you don't get a hard ticket there, so for those of us who like to save the tickets, that sucks (and I'm in SF, so I don't have the option to buy these tickets locally)
The ego of this place is a gazillion times better than it actually is
But if I ever want to see Bret Michaels play (which will be never), I will give this place another try.
