I went here on a Monday night to have beers and catch up with a friend. At first glance it seemed promising. Nice patio, friendly bar tender, extensive bar menu & beer selection.
We ordered our beer and then took a table outside. (FYI the one star is for the tasty beer). The bar tender told us a server would be out in a moment to take our order. That moment was about twenty minutes and the server was the bar tender. Not a big deal since my friend and I were chatting. I ordered a veggie burger with side salad and my friend got the beet salad and an order of garlic fries.  When our food arrived I was skeptical. The "salad" was a pile of wilted and rotting greens- nothing else. The "burger" was falling apart and looked questionable. It was one of the more revolting things I've had the displeasure of consuming. I've been a vegetarian for almost 25 years so I've had my fair share of crappy vegetarian food but this was one of the top ten worsts. It was basically plain tofu with some rice, and mushrooms and a sad piece of mild cheddar. NO flavor, mushy, falling apart. My friend fared a little better but still had to dig through her salad to find the few beets buried at the bottom of her dish.
I had hoped Kupros would be a place to return to but with its hodge-podge menu, slow service, annoying country music, and basic lack of cohesion I won't be back.

This bar/bistro is by far one of my favorites in Sacramento. The environment is comfortable, the service is pleasant, and the happy hour specials are great!

ONE star for the wine, ONE star for the food & coffee and ZERO stars for the service.

It seems like a lot of Yelp reviews for this place start out with "I wanted to like this place..." Guess I should have read the yelp reviews BEFORE I went.

So, I wanted to like this place but the food was misrepresented on the menu, it also wasn't tasty and the service was atrocious. 3 for $10, hell yeah I'll take that deal! My companion and I ordered the duck confit fries with tarragon and garlic, mixed green salad and wild boar crostini.

Duck confit fries - the image conjured up by this description is a decadent mound of fries tossed with tarragon and garlic topped with shredded of luscious duck leg. NO NO, it was a plate of fries with green specks (not tarragon). We asked the waitress where the duck confit was, was it left off? "No, that's our take on duck confit." Uhh, I guess they are using the word "confit" in lieu of "fried." What they mean is duck fat fried French fries, say THAT on your menu.

Mixed green salad: a wet wad of limp greens, the shining star and the only thing I picked off the salad were sweet, fresh cucumbers.

Wild boat crostini: Good enough. Not good enough to save the meal.

We ended our meal with cappuccinos. You can't mess those up right? You can have your own take on those, kupros, right? WRONG. What came were coffee cups filled with two ounces of bitter espresso and thin thin layer of foam. It barely filled half the cup. As we peered down into our almost empty cups, we asked the waitress if these were in fact the cappuccinos we ordered, her response, "oh, that's our take on a cappuccino."

Well, OUR take on you Kupros is that we wish you'd live up to your potential, have some managerial presence, train your staff and get a new menu writer to actually represent your food correctly, oh while your at it, chef, look up "duck confit" in a Food Lover's Companion, the answer may shock you.
