I had a great time last week at the burlesque show they put on. Â But I had the worst, worst, worst rum and coke I've ever had. Â It tasted like what I would assume paint thinner tastes like, and was half water. Â I don't want to rate them this low, because the venue was nice, the show was amazing and the place was clean... but that rum and coke was disgusting. Â And I paid five dollars for it. Â I would probably come back, but seriously? Â How hard is it to screw up a rum and coke? Â The bartender was not attentive at all and didn't care at all about my bad drink. Â My friend ordered the same thing and she agreed, it was just nasty.
Review Source:It has been awhile since I have dusted off my dancing shoes and ventured down to Harlow's but when a friend decided to have her birthday celebration with a group of friends to attend the Shock G/Digital Underground Concert, I was Sold!
We arrived at 9 pm, to a large crowd outside, quickly we were told doors were not open yet. Â In a deviant mood, I proceeded on in lol. Â Here's the thing, if you advertise doors are to open at 9, they should be (Doors to open at 9, concert to start at 10). Â But honestly we just wanted to get our ticket that was being held at the door so we would not have to fight the crowd later. Â So with that we got our wrist bands and proceeded to Blue Cue to get some cocktails. Â After a cocktail or two we headed back over the Harlows, even though we had our wristbands and showed ID already we had to show ID an additional time! Â We proceeded on in.
Harlows is like a remember; spacious club, pretty dim lighting, with a long bar inside and another bar outside. Â It only being 30 minutes or so after the doors opening, the place was packed so we grabbed seats outside. Â The night continued on with more drinks and soon the dancing began. Â Oh wait, weren't we here for a concert?? Um, it's 11 pm and still no Shock G? Now it's 11:30? 11:45? Â It was midnight when we began to discuss heading home. Â
Approximately 12:05 he hit the stage, and yes to all that are wondering he had his signature sunglasses with fake nose on! But honestly by then we were burnt out. Â We danced and sang along for a whole 15 minutes and proceeded on home!
Maybe I'm old Skool but a concert should open on time, start close to the time it's advertised so that folks like me can head home before it's morning time of the next day! Â Harlow's venue is OK but this event, Meh, I've experienced better. . . .
