Can a place be a hole in the wall when it is the size of a football field?  Ok, maybe not a football field but Volcano's is a big place.
I read about their chicken fried chicken and tried it.  It was good.  I have a soft spot for fried chicken although I usually refrain for health reasons.  I was pleasantly surprised.  It wasn't gourmet or anything but as far as fried chicken goes, I would say it was better than average.

Our waitress was really nice and made small talk with us in a folksy type of way.  It is the type of place where your waitress might sit down and talk to you for a second while she takes your order.  I could see it leading to slow service if it is busy and you are not the ones being talked to but in general it has a good low key west side of the metroplex feel.

Fun place.  We went there after a group trip of work people to Whirlyball.  It is a dive bar on crack, by that I mean it is enormous with shuffleboard tables, pool tables and dart boards everywhere.  It is a bar game dream.  They also have Golden Tee and all of those games.
The food is decent and probably better than we expected.  The beer is cheap.  The waitress is nice, she was somewhat to the point, but friendly enough.
Definitely a throwback bar that is probably the exact same as it was 10 years ago.

Well, it's a sports bar. Hence the title. No glam or luxury to be found at this joint.

There are a ton of pool tables, shuffleboard, darts, and an internet jukebox. There's a full kitchen with a decent menu (for a bar) full of burgers, wings, fried stuff. The kind of food you want to nom on after a couple of pitchers.

Now, this place is big. It feels really open on the inside despite dimming the lights and the smoke in the air. Not too welcoming if you like going to the local dive to watch the game. This is a place for groups.

I've been on weekdays and found a cozy spot at the bar. The drinks are super cheap. Pitchers were around $6 or $7 for most stuff (Try the Abita). On the weekend it's very busy. I'm not saying it's really hard to find a seat, but it can be sometimes. Like I said, this place is big.

If you live in HEB, you should visit Volcanos once or twice. See if the glove fits. Just remember, the whole place is smoker friendly :)

Chill neighborhood sports bar.  Tons of pool tables and dart boards.  They have leagues for both darts and pool.  They always have the Rangers on which as a huge Rangers fan, I love.

I think their food is pretty good and I have found the service to be good as well.

The atmosphere is very casual and laid back. It is a very dark place (in terms of lighting).  Kind of a mix of a speakeasy and a vegas casino.  It can be the middle of the day and it feels like night inside and when you walk out you are blinded by the light.

Nothing particularly amazing about it but a good place with seemingly good people and cheap beer.

Food isn't bad. I like the Southwestern Eggrolls. I don't drink much but mixed drinks here are really weak.

This is a cool place but management has some issues.  Before I start talking about the bad, I wanted to say that the food is great here. Very tasty burger and the wings are good. And now for the negative.  This place is advertised as a Green Bay Packer bar on their website yet they won't turn the volume on for the Packers game if the Cowboys are playing at the same time.  Something to do with an agreement with a vendor.  I think its a bunch of crap cause the place has about 50 Packer fans in there to watch the Green Bay game and maybe a small handful of Cowboy Fans are there to watch Dallas.  Another thing that upset me was on SUPER BOWL SUNDAY this place didn't pull down their video projector screen for the game. And to ice the cake they started doing construction work during the 3rd Quarter of the Super Bowl.  I don't know why they couldn't wait til the game was over to start construction. Especially during the #1 game of the year.
