Meah, food quality took dive here, years ago it was decent, but now? Why not hit the chain restaurant?

Seems they are also trying so hard to be something else. Big sign of this and that events, but at the end of the day, they are just another restaurant serving crappy meal.

    Service is crap!
They save themselves with the food!
Seriously, everyone do themselves a favor and order the crab dip!!!! I live in Colorado and every time I visit I have to come here for the crab dip! I can easily fill up on that and beer. :)
Also, around 9 the atmosphere changes to a college frat party. It gets loud and rowdy. They have security in the parking lot and won't let non VIP s walk on the "red carpet" to go to the bathroom.
If you want a nice calm relaxing delicious (awful service) dinner come early enough to leave by 9! If you want to party this place looks like fun for that as well

Back in the day, when it was Geckos it was off the chain!  Now its just ok.  The food is a little below average.  The waitresses are awful.  The drinks were just ok.  That place should be packed every single night!

Yep. I will try to go again.  Maybe get rid of the Ratched folks and you will get a better group

It's an ok place but by no means a place tro go for the food. We went in the winter so it was pretty quiet but they were gearing up for the night club crowd so the service was a little lax.

I hate being served in throw away paper baskets so that's a big negative for me. Otherwise it wasn't  the best food but ok if you're drinking,

    3.5 stars.

Water's Edge is your average, dingy bar.  Plastic Solo cups for your pitchers of beer.  Run-of-the-mill food like deep-fried crab cakes with too much breading and filler, bagged-corn chip nachos and tacos filled with radioactive meat.  Cigarette smoke wafting unappealingly in from the enclosed deck attached to the dining room.

However, service is above average.  Figure out where Travis is serving and sit there.

And -- in what just might be one of the most baffling of DC's culinary secrets -- Water's Edge has some of the best steamed blue crabs I have ever had.  Forget shlepping out to Annapolis.  This place steams theirs in beer (and, I suspect, a raft of butter).  The meat is so meltingly tender, succulent and flavorful there's no need for melted butter or cocktail sauce.  And when the kitchen's supply is big enough, Water's Edge offers *all-you-can-eat* for $30.  Do you know how many crabs you can put away during back-to-back football games?  I'm too embarrassed to tell you.

Boyfriend randomly found this place on google, looking for a place with seafood and the ability to watch football. We headed out for the Redskins first game, and found seats up on the rooftop. Its a pretty big place, with several different rooms and outside seating options, right on the Occoquan.

Service wasn't awful - our server was good, but when the wind blew up our brown paper tablecloth and my full glass of red wine with it, the bartender looked over, saw me sopping wine off of my pants, and turned back to the bar. That actually pissed me off, but I got over it - our server had been downstairs checking on something, and when he got back he immediately had me a new glass of wine and extra paper towels and an apology.

Drinks are pretty cheap - $9 for a pitcher of Miller Light, $12 for Sam Adams Octoberfest. We ended up getting some wings that were on special for football ($5/dozen), and the flavor was good but they were basically mini wings. Then we got a dozen crabs - we decided against the all you can eat because we figured that we likely wouldn't eat more than 12 before us, and even if we got a 2nd dozen it would still be cheaper than all you can eat for 2. The crabs are freshly steamed, and they were fantastic - I hadn't had crabs like that in ages, but I made the most of it, mess and all :)

The only downside is location. Its not close to anything, so somebody needs to be able to drive home. If you're just going for seafood, no issue. But if you're going for football and drinks, make sure you have that worked out. Also, if you're going for football, I don't know how the rest of the place is during the game, but the upstairs is definitely not family friendly. One family actually got up and moved downstairs. These guys (and it's mostly guys) do not hold back. It was fun, but probably not kid-appropriate :)

We'll definitely be back. It won't be a regular joint because of location, but the seafood was good and its FAR less pretentious price-wise than many of the places closer to where we live. Not bad at all.

Need little more light for outdoor seating at night. Food is OK as long as you have seafood..Oysters are poor quality.

I would definitely come back! Especially if I have friends in town for a visit. We stumbled in here on a rainy Sunday night before Labor Day just expecting to get a dozen crabs and appetizers around 10:00 PM. We pulled up and at first it appeared to be a private party or club night complete with security & bouncers in front. They reassured us they were still serving dinner, no cover charge and to just walk in and grab seat that wasn't reserved. Security was thorough. Moreso than some clubs in DC I might add. I was happy to see we arrived in time for their DJ who was playing all of the old school hits I haven't heard in ages! The crowd was the most diverse (age and race) I've ever seen in the area and to me that was a PLUS and a nice change. Everyone was so cool, enjoying the music, the drinks and just having a great time. We decided to sit at the bar and order appetizers and lots of drinks. Prices are very reasonable, the food was pretty good and the drinks were not watered down. My boyfriend and I had a fantastic time grooving to the music and making small talk with the folks around us, and people watching the folks who took to the dance floor. I wish I knew the DJs name since he was such a crowd pleaser. At midnight a live band came on. It was pretty neat to hear them convert a Katy Perry song to a Go-Go song. But it lasted 20 minutes. I was ready for the DJ to come back. But all in all, we had a great time. I don't think every Sunday is like this though considering it was a 3-day weekend. I also noticed on one of their signs, Happy Hour is from NOON (wow!) to 7:00 PM. Every night they have a different theme. Keep an open mind and check it out! I will go back when it's not raining so I can sit outside by the water.

I love this place. I could write two entirely different descriptions of this restaurant. If you go after work, or for happy hour and sit outside on one of two decks, it is very relaxing. You will have an umbrella to shade you and the server will provide you with drinks and yummy seafood. I love to go there early evening to relax.

If you go there after 10, the place changes into a night club. All kinds of people go there, all ages. The DJ plays a great mix and the dance floor is never empty. They serve food late too. They are very accommodating to big parties and the servers are very friendly. This is a very low key, down to earth joint. I love it!

The place can use a sanitization review to the tiki bar. The bar has lots of spiders and ants which make me unhappy. Other than that the place is satisfactory to eat there.

This place could be so much better if they would just hire a better wait staff.

Went here Friday night for dinner, we had a party of 12! So we made sure to keep our waiter busy. All you can eat crabs for $30 per person, HELL yeah! The crabs were full, tasty and fresh. We sat outside on the top deck which has an excellent view. Our waiter was on point. A couple of us got oysters those were delicious. One guy at the the table (allergic to seafood) ordered a steak and it was pretty damn amazing! Very tender, juicy. we had a great time and would def return!

Very beautiful view of the marina out on the deck!!! Service was pretty slow though. Also, they advertised Blue Moon (my favorite beer) on draft, but it's actually not. My husband & I split a pitcher of Yuengling & they kindly put a plastic cup of ice in the pitcher to keep cold for us!  Haven't gotten our food yet but I anticipate the crab legs will be awesome!

Moved to Lake Ridge in September 2011 and finally made it to WE last evening. Great view w/ a laid back atmosphere. I only had the crab dip and it was a horrific-runny soup-esqe mess, the service was slow as hell! For such a huge space it was not packed so I don't understand the slow service. I would be even more regretful of my 20% if not for the generous pours of wine and strong cosmos! Will go back but only for the view and cocktails:)

I'm giving this place 4 stars only because it is a great place to show someone who is new to the DMV. I usually take people here who are visiting the DC area. Being from the west coast, I always forget I'm in VA when I come here. Plus, I've been here about 4 times on different days. With that being said, they do have some stringent (ludicrous) rules in place which makes me wonder about what in the world went on at this place in the past. Rules like, hats... I mean this is a caribbean inspired place that is promoting a fun and relaxing athomosphere, not a place that is uptight and stuffy, or too metro. The very 1st time I went here, I had to take my cap back to my car-I could've went to DC if I needed to dress up. Then when I got inside, more than a few people wear wearing hats. Its along the water and the place is pretty much open from outside, so I don't see what the big deal is about wearing hats. Hell, they have enough juice head security guards to stop anything from jumping off...right. It is a little overkill, but hey, I guess people need jobs. And Chris S meantioned the thing about credit cards. Yes, kinda weird, but I think the staff must not have too much experience in handling those transactions, so maybe its easier for them to swipe it.

As for me, it was a big deal because I ended up leaving my card and had to go pick it up the next morning. The day time is 180 degree difference. For the DMV, customer service seems pretty much the same. I rarely expereince happy staff who smile or have  good customer service, so as far as that, I'm use to it and can deal with attitudes. In the daytime, it is nice to eat along the river. Could be a nice place for out-of-towners traveling with family- during the day.

The food is pretty good. Not phenomenal. But, it is nice to be able to order seafood (crab dip, crabs, shrimp) while you're in a club environment and getting twisted off liquor. The drinks are strong enough- no complants there!

And again, like Chris S said, people are dancing and having a good time. People come to dance and drink. I also went here on a Sunday night to have a beer and watch a game. The DJ started playing music around 7-8pm.

The music is always pretty good. The DJs know the crowd. This place gets a lot of regulars. Like I said, its becoming a regular joint if I'm not in DC or showing someone around the DMV.

I have never been to this place in the daytime so my review is based solely on this place as a nighttime spot.

I'm use to partying in Washington DC, so this was a different vibe for me but I can't complain I really enjoyed myself. This place was just really cool and chill.

The drinks were cheap and strong, the bartender was friendly and made sure you had a good time all night long.

The music was good, nothing extra special about it, the basic hip hop, rap and reggae you would hear at any other club but they do a good job of mixing the new stuff with some older.

People actually dance, which more and more is a weird thing to run across in a club. In DC everybody is more worried about looking cute instead of dancing and having a good time, so it's nice to see some people actually enjoying music and dancing with each other.

My only issue with this place is they have a weird rule about hats, apparently it is perfectly okay to hear a baseball hat there as long as you want but seeing as it was cold I had a knit cap on and they kept making me take it off. Why are baseball caps allowed but other head wear banned?

They also have this weird rule where your credit card can only be swiped once so you have to either open a tab or only have one drink all night. Never have come across this at any other spot but no big deal to me.

I won't make it a regular spot because Woodbridge is a hike from where I live but I can see myself visiting the Water's Edge from time to time.

I love this place, I go here all the time because it keeps all my friends happy. It has everything for everyone.
Well stocked bar with plenty of staff and even an outdoor bar during the warm months with a nice view of the Occoquan river. DRinks are decently priced, nothing outrageous.
I've only had their food twice and it's decently tasty. Their cheese sticks and veggie wraps are satisfying but not super awesome.
The DJ has a decent array of music and tends to take song requests if you keep asking. I try to avoid coming before 11 pm because the music can be a bit blah early in the evening.
there are pool tables, a separate quiet bar for smokers, and they just added an upstairs area.
I don't get bored here and the security takes its job seriously. Comforting for a young female like me.

This place is awesome :-) All new management and new servers for the summertime! It's a great family resturaunt during the day and even better at night, especially on the weekends where it turns into a club! Live bands almost everyday makes for an excellent atmosphere. Would reccommend to anyone!!

Went here for father's day dinner with my wife's family. The menu states they have a "Crab Feast" that includes AYCE blue crab as well as steamed shrimp. Unfortunately, they weren't offering the shrimp portion of the deal today, which I wasn't told until after my wife and two of my sons ordered it and asked for shrimp after the first batch of crabs arrived.

The AYCE crabs came with hush-puppies and Corn.  When my son asked for more hush-puppies they were all out and did not offer anything to replace them.  The first batch of crabs came out 45 minutes after we ordered and my wife and sons each received eight a piece. An hour later and the next batch had not been brought out yet so we changed their orders to a dozen each (we still didn't get the extra 12 crabs we paid for).

I requested the check and it took an additional 30 minutes to get it to us. They offered my 7 year old a scoop of ice-cream and then came back 10 minutes later and told him that they were out.  We will never frequent this establishment again.

I've been a few times on weekend nights. Drinks are reasonably priced. Usually a good amount of people. say it's about 1/3 younger people (21-25) and then like 2/3 older. They play a mix of rap and rock. Dance floor is small. It is nice hanging out on the deck during the summer nights. And not really any eye candy here, bunch of wash ups. As far as Woodbridge goes, just another lame bar.

I don't know what the day time is like but I usually go there at night time. It's definitely a party place. Though, some people wear something i would wear to go painting in. I mean.. you have expensive boats around you I personally think you should atleast get dress up. Perhave maybe a dress code would be benefiting to this place.

Dance floor a little on a small size for how many people go there on the weekend. Some girls who work there sometimes look at you with annoyance. I usually rarely get a smile back. Other than that it's pretty cool place.

I went here for the Xmas party we had for our division. I didn't eat any food but I will say that the atmosphere was kinda dry.... until my second Patron and lemonade. The amount of cleavage with hair gives the feeling of a Hoodbridge Hooters type competition, but I'm not complaining. Water's Edge gets 3 stars because the place is huge but it has only two pool tables (only one is level), the drinks are watered down, and they put this snow crap in random places that ends up on your clothes. Overall, I think I'd go again just to see it from a more relaxed point of view,

I went here at 8:30 on a friday night and stayed until 10:30...it never seemed to get going. A DJ came it around 9,  but didn't add anything to the atmosphere.

They have 2 bars and plenty of table seating. One bar is half inside and half out, and is the first to fill up. The inside bar is the place to be if it's going to be chilly outside, because the whole place is open, at least in September.

I had some draft beers. I think they go through kegs pretty fast. 2 of my beers tasted like the bottom of the barrel, and 2 were OK. I also ate their crab cake sandwich with onion rings. Both were pretty tasty, but not $12 tasty; Cosi has a better crab cake sandwich actually.  They also only give you 4 pretty small onion rings.

All in all, on a Friday night, I had 4 beers, a red bull and a crab cake sandwich, all of which were just OK, and it cost me $38....not a good deal if you ask me.

Their saving grace is the waiting staff. This is why they don't get 2 stars. They're very attentive, and as soon as you get within a sip of finishing your beverage, they ask you if you want another.

I wasn't too impressed, but I enjoyed myself enough to try this bar again some time in the future.

I've been on a few nights here. The place is very big, lots of room and lots of different bars to choose from. The restaurant sits right on the water, with their outside balcony/tiki bar (very big) overlooking the marina.  On Friday nights they have a dj and the dance floor (located at the very front) is opened up. The music was hit or miss for the couple times I have been. I like the few times I have been and the dj played a mix of music, hip hop, pop and some country. It gets extremely crowded there, so tables are scarce the later it gets. But, if you have a table, they all have waitresses, even at night when it turns into mostly a club.

During the week they have different events; bikini contests, Redskins cheerleaders and some other stuff. They have a calendar posted on their site.

I love that it's not too pretentious with very good looking male and females (for those of you that are single).

    Pro:
Big dance floor, given that it is a bar and not a club.
No drinks on the dance floor
    Tables inside and out
    Very separate smoking section
Service is always great no matter who I get
Best crab feast deal in town: $20 all you can eat crabs. So yummy!
    Huge parking lot
    Cheap drinks
    Food served late

    Cons
It is HOT in that place. Because all the doors are opened up to the outside patio and marina, but it feels horrible, especially when it gets crowded. They say the a/c is on, but it feels like a sauna. It is unbearable.  Not sure what it is like in the non-summer months, but you can forget your hair looking cute there.

Small bathrooms and only one set, esp for the size of the place

I really liked the Waters Edge!  It is a great entertainment place where you can have a lot of fun.  I went there quite a few evenings to dance, had a blast.  I changed up by checking it out on a Sunday, and sat at the Tiki Bar which is outside overlooking the River.  A lot of friendly people, and the Staff was very nice.  I will definitely continue going here.

Crabs are the best in the area, service is hit or miss. Best time to go is on Saturday or Sunday mornings in the summer they have bands that play on the deck and of course all you can eat crab specials.

It's located right on the water with docks for boats. It's very Southern MD/VA type atmosphere. The ratio of men: women is definitely off - predominantly I think because they feature scantily dressed waitresses with huge fake boobs. They are not necessarily attractive but it's draws a big crowd for sure! They also have cheezy kareoke - so be prepared to listen to some bad music. The menu is typical nothing too exciting. I saw people eating crab there. The burger and chicken tenders were good but I did get sick the next day.

I attended the Cardinals vs. Steelers Super Bowl party here for the first (and last) time...

The Water's Edge is what used to be Oasis. Clueless on why they changed their name. They also opened it up more from what it used to be as well.

I walked in and it was cloudier than LA's worst days. Nonetheless, I sat with my friends for their $0.20 wings and $5 domestic pitchers (Miller Lite, Bud Light, and Coors Light) as the Super Bowl special. Not a bad price huh?

Beer - good. Can't beat the price really.
Wings - Terrible. My friends tried to justify that they're 20 cent wings but I don't give a damn how much they cost. Eating cold, rubber chicken isn't in my best interest.
Quesadilla - Tortilla, chicken and cheese. That was it! No salsa, no sour cream, no chives, no nothing!
Chicken fingers - Cold and worthless

I know good bar food when I taste it and this place is bottom of the barrel bad. The service however was good and we were always being filled up. Like the other yelper said, it's smoky here and as a non-smoker, I felt like had two packs of Marlboro Reds.
