Another 5 star review for a perfect East Village jaunt with communal seating.  I know my tastes are a little predicable, but so is the East Village, and I'm into it.

These. Cocktails. Are. To. Die.  All of them.  I couldn't stop drinking.  I thought it couldn't get any better, but when we drunkinly ordered everything on the menu, that stuff was also perfect.  I love the decor of this place.  It's almost enough to fool into thinking that I'm some place wonderful, and beautiful, and breezy without abandoning it's raw hot summer in Manhattan charm.  I even love that it's on Avenue C.  It kind of feels like a little escape from the hustle and bustle.  I wish I could live there.

    Oysters?! At 1am?!

Okay, so I didn't get the oysters, but now that I know they serve oysters in the wee hours I'll be all over that.

But for now, allow me to rave about their imaginative drinks and quality food.

The drinks are whimsical and most of them have a spicy ingredient to them! Consider them the illegitimate children of Bloody Mary. I only had their BERMUDA BLACK which was good! The rum overpowered the beer which was a disappointment.

As for food? Had the SAUSAGE BREAD AND RICOTTA and CHICKEN LIVER (sandwich). The sausage bread... oohhh.. the sausage bread. I was not expecting bread to taste as if it was just out of the oven especially at 1 in the morning. So moist and delicate with sausage baked in, I'm salivating thinking about it. HIGHLY recommended.

The chicken liver sandwich was interesting! Interesting of the good variety, because they use thin slices of ripe, tart apple. I thought it was clever. The apple cuts through the richness of the chicken liver. A great touch. I love chicken liver and this did not disappoint.

Last words: Will 100% be back. I'm a spice-chaser and those cocktails were made for me in mind! I highly recommend the sausage bread and ricotta! That will always be something I order every time I visit, for sure.

I went there on a friday evening for a pre-dinner, I had dominican daiquri, it's totally refreshing w rum and basil mint syrup, it's well balanced and strong at the same time, my friend had a drink called smoked and roasted, i had a sip, it was delicious, chili was not overpowering, that's the beauty of cocktails i love about some bars, it's so yum that you don't feel like you're drinking alcohol.  Bartenders and waitress are very friendly and attentive, there's also a small communal table by the window where small bites can be ordered, and on the other end of the window, i heard there's live band playing on certain nights, it's not a big place, but def a good place to hang out and enjoy a decent cocktail at EV!
