So, several times I've been there, I have had to stand at the counter several minutes before I'm even noticed. The person who should be working the counter is wiping off tables.
Service is super slow. The person working the counter, and taking orders, is also the person filling drinks.
I really think this is a managerial issue. I don't think it's the staff's fault. Obviously they're understaffed and the staff is burned out.
WORST Fast Food Restaurant ever. I love Wendys and this place should not even have the title of owning Wendys.
First off, terrible service. One time one employee argued with me on what i ordered instead of trying to fix the problem. (very impatient to begin with in the drive Thur)
Took them about 20 min to realize they were out of diet coke.
(how can you be out of diet coke)
I got cold baked potato, cold chicken nuggets, and a cheeseburger instead of a Jr bacon cheeseburger. (HUGE difference between the two)
Over all, i have gotten extremely sick 3 out of 5 times i have been to this location. unless you want to be by the toilet for 24 hours after eaten severely cold food, rude service, and wrong items i would suggest not to eat here.
you have been warned.
-Forgot 3 of my items
- Fry container was 1/2 full
-Fries were cold along with the chicken nuggets
- When I went back inside to ask for the forgotten items the person at the counter was   incredibly rude
The list goes on, and I have to say that I only have myself to blame for going back to this location. I had been here before and knew that it was a bad location but it is so much closer to my house than the other "good" one (on Ashland and Fullerton).
So If you are thinking about what one to go to, it is worth the drive to go to a different one.
It has been this bad for the past 2 years and it will never get better!
How can fast food be this slow and disorganized. When the lady finally came from the back to operate the one cash register she had to yell into the back that there were 5 people in line. Not that it mattered because no help came. After she waited on 3 people she decided it was break time again and wandered back into the kitchen area. When she did resurface she did have food, not mine of course. That took another 7 minutes of waiting. The bad part is that I went inside because the drive thru was wrapped around the building
Review Source:AVOID AT ALL COSTS
Entered on Sunday around 4:00 with 1 person in line. Stepped up to order and by the time we got our correct order there was a line to the door and 45 minutes of my life wasted.
Four cheeseburgers and one baked potato took 25 minutes...to correct the order which should have been three baked potatoes took another 15 min.
At one point there was no one running the register or even remotely in the order area. Well except for the the manager and the cashier checking out in the prep area which, one caused a cluster F*** in that small area, two is not sanitary and three it is not safe. Any crazed lunatic could have hopped the counter and robbed the place.
Dave Thomas would be sadly disappointed!!!
This is truly as good as it gets as far as fast food. Can't really say much about the food other than that it's consistent, which is more than I can say about the location on Harlem - soggy fries, yuck. Anyway, the best thing about the Lawrence location is their speed. I've never been there during lunchtime and had any sort of wait. You order, you pull up, you pay, you pull up, and they hand you your food. Chicago fast food places are way worse than others elsewhere in terms of how little their employees seem to care about doing a good job, so Wendy's being this bastion of efficiency will make me a consistent customer for the foreseeable future.
Review Source:What is happening?! This Wendy's used to be somewhat decent, but now it's pretty bad.
The boyfriend and I went here to get some burgers at 6:30pm on a Thursday night. We pull up to the drive-thru and the employee says through the screen 'drive-thru closed'. What??!! It's dinner-time and it was closed? How is that possible? I was not about to go inside so instead we took our business elsewhere (McDonalds...sigh). That was Strike One.
My boyfriend decides to try the drive-thru again and low-and-behold, it's actually open this time! But they were out of Dr. Pepper. Seriously?! Strike Two.
One final chance to make it right. Drive-thru is open, Dr. Pepper is available and order is placed. Whoohoo! Well, not so fast. We get home and they gave my boyfriend the wrong burger. My order was correct, but not his. Strike Three....You're OUT!
Sorry Wendy's, but you lost our business. Which is sad b/c you make a mean Frosty.
Nothing wrong with this one, food-wise, but major disappointments with this one:
1) The breakfast items are NOT served at this location.
2) Drive-thru closes early at this one. (1am-ish, maybe 2am on weekends?)
I have nothing against going to this one in a pinch, but honestly I prefer the Touhy Ave. location near Lowe's and Lincolnwood Town Center, and the Addison/Western location so much more, as both of them serve breakfast and have later drive-thru hours. Pretty sure Ashland/Fullerton/Clybourn has breakfast, and has a drive-thru that's open all the way to 3am(least it was everyday a year ago).
Also, be VERY CAREFUL pulling out of their parking lot, since parked cars commonly block the sight of oncoming traffic. I almost got hit by a car after pulling out once because of that factor, and it's weird there isn't a side parking lot entrance/exit onto Seeley that'd help with traffic flow. In the future, I'm gonna stick to not driving to this location.
Why do I need to give them even one star? Â First-I've lived near this Wendy's for several years, so my experience there was a bit more frequent than I'd like- 2, sometimes 3 times a week. Â That said, this place has always been a pain. Â Often, I'd be told to pull up and wait (up to 10 min.), I'd get the wrong order (always check), or simply attitude from the person at the window (um, why?). Â My orders were usually for two people, so $20+ when "going LARGE." Â The breaking point for me was when Wendy's decided that asking for 4 honey mustards is too much, and they started charging for it. Â WHY? Â Total breaking point for me. Â Bad service, wrong orders, & now charging $ for condiments when they're getting $40-60 a week from me....wtf? Â Of course I wrote to Wendy's Corp. Customer Non-Service People. Â (Yes, I am one of THOSE people.) Â And surprise, no response-there's that Wendy's Cust. Service for you again. Â I'm proud to say that I have not purchased Wendy's for over nine months. Â The boycott continues. Â I think it's far less frustrating for me to make my own burgers at home for less $$ than to pay my hard earned money for poor service, poor customer service, and then to get squeezed for more money for a condiment. Â Why do these people have jobs when so many people who actually want to work hard & provide good service are unemployed? Â And why is it too difficult for Wendy's to answer a hand-written letter? Â Does the fact that I didn't just e-mail them & click "send" not send any sort of message that this (former) customer really has an issue with how they are treating their patrons?
Review Source:Rolled in around 9 p.m. on a Thursday. Â Wendy's is usually pretty good, so my hopes were high. Â I ordered the spicy boneless wings. Â They were decent. Â The fries were okay, but I've had better at other Wendy's.
The problem arose shortly thereafter as I belched every five minutes for the next 10 hours or so. Â No joke. Â What the hell was in those spicy boneless wings and what have they done to my stomach?
Fast food in a city this size is a different level of unfortunate.
For all those night owls, BEWARE. Â My sister was hungry one night and we decided to walk down Lawrence for no good reason. Â We saw the Wendys and she thought that was doable keeping the late hours in mind. Â The dining room doors were locked so we figured we could walk through the Drive Through, along with a group of three other girls who followed. Â Nope, the staff wouldn't come to the window to tell us we couldn't order but instead signed as if they were turning a steering wheel. Â Their large sign reads Open Late. Â Ummm it should say DRIVE THROUGH Open Late! Â Heck, I'm boycotting this location and no way was I going to get a taxi just to drive through. Â Lame! Â (And if this is due to their safety I could just as easily rob them or shoot a gun from a car as on foot).
Review Source:I was at this Wendy's twice yesterday, unexpectedly, due to scheduling, and me being hungry for a snack. The crispy chicken sandwich (99 cents) and the jr. bacon cheeseburger (99 cents) Â are good for being fast food. The drive in window is well run and the staff is friendly and efficient. I would agree with Zagat that this is the best of the nationwide fast food chains (not counting in and out burger of course).
Review Source:Wendy's employee: Â "Hi Welcome to Wendy's. Â Can I take your order?"
Me: Â "Yes, I'll have one of those grilled chicken wra"
Wendy's employee: "Does that complete your order?"
Me: Â "Um, no. Â You didn't even let me complete my sentence. Â The chicken wrap, a small fr"
Wendy's employee: Â "Is that it?"
Me: Â "Hi? NO. Â I need a bottle of water and THAT completes my order"
Without fail, everytime the drive thru employee working weekdays around lunchtime rushes me through my order. Â You would think they wanted you to order/spend more. Â I don't know why I go from time to time. Â I just want to kick myself in the shin sometimes.
The last 7 times I've visited this Wendy's drive thru they've screwed up my order - either forgetting sauce, napkins, spoon, straw, etc. They are in so much of a hurry to get your order to you (they practically throw your food and drink out the window to you and then turn and yell to bring the next order). I think if they slowed down just a touch their service would improve and they wouldn't forget all the little things in my order. It's so frustrating!
Review Source:Ok, so I am a vegetarian who is on the road all of the time. Â I really needed to get some lunch and saw this Wendy's and decided to go in and check out the menu. Â I thought Wendy's may have gotten out of the dark ages and created a Wendy Veggie Burger, but no go. Â I was pretty bummed out because I needed to get some food before I got a headache and Wendy's was not going to help me out at all. Â Some of you may say, well, geez, Robin R., why didn't you order a salad? Â Because I did not want a salad and I don't even know what their salad menu consisted of because I was set on a veggie burger. Â Burger King has veggie burgers, but I did not know where one was in relation to my location, so I went someplace totally different.
Veggie Wendy, where are you?
Update to 2012 - I have to eat gluten free now and Wendy's gets more stars for having GF FRENCH FRIES. Â And, the fries are not cooked with the beef or have added beef fat. Â I gobbled up these fries while my dad was terminally ill in the hospital in 2011. Â I needed some kind of eats and there was a Wendy's on the way home from the hospital in Des Plaines. Â Fries and a Frosty - not good for me, don't want to end up with the same heart attack my dad had, but Wendy's hit the spot for a stressed out person like me.
I go here instead of the one on Addison and Western which has horrible service, food, and is difficult to get to. Â The food is hot and good every time, they have never messed up an order, and the person at the drive thru is always very nice. Â Many times when ordering more than one chili I have to wait a bit, but it's worth the wait.
Review Source:Why bother?
Budacki's is less than a block away- willing to serve you hot and crispy Bacon and probably playing N.E.R.D.'s 'She Wants to Move'
Extra star for the time before Boyfriend became a vegetarian, when we went thru the drive thru after every single bar's last call - that time boyfriend said "Got no money, but have this here BEER!"
And he got a burger for his efforts.
Awesome.
I'm giving 5 stars for the service. Wendy's food doesn't change much from location to location. The staff at this Wendy's are very sweet. I brought my class here for a field trip and they were extremely accommodating. They helped my students with a smile and were just extremely friendly. I will definitely be bringing my class back for future community based outings.
Review Source:If you are looking to avoid the fabled lines & waits at this Wendy's, I would recommend showing up at the drive-thru after midnight like I usually do, at that time of night you can usually get in & out pretty fast. Â Wendy's has traditionally been one of my top choices for junk-food burgers, but even so I usually stop at this place only when I am desperately hungry late at night. Â I don't really care much if they run out of salads and soda, but if the day ever comes when they claim they are out of meat, then I'll be pretty pissed...
