I am surprised that I never wrote a review about Lutz - a little foretaste of Heaven, however, today reminded me that it is indeed, not Heaven. While the food is great, the desserts are unbelievable, and the coffee with real whipped cream are all scrumptious, I was taken by surprise by the cost, (I was there just this past summer and it wasn't that much). I would have asked for a doggy bag for the small amount of crust from the quiche I left behind and the last bite of dessert I left on my plate. My bill was $18.49.
I have been known to treat my friends to a treat, but not today. There were four of us and that would have put the total bill at nearly 80.00. I would have fainted, (so would my husband).
What happened?
Everything was great, but .... My friends can enjoy a taste of Heaven, enjoying each others company sitting at the Garfield Park Conservatory and save on the calories.
September 2006. Ordered a wedding cake, made a slight change 10 days before. The changes were estimated at a maximum of $75. I told him, "well, you have my credit card info, just charge me for the balance so I don't have to stop in again". They charge me over twice as much as quoted. . Ridiculous. I thought their cafe area was nice, and I may have stopped in again and again, but no- I don't think I'll ever go back now.
The cake wasn't spectacular either.
