Extremely disappointed with this wine bar.  I was expecting such spectacular service and great selection of wine, however, I received the complete opposite. Wine selection is OK but the service, disgraceful.  I was the only person at the wine bar and it still took almost 10 mins to have my glass of wine poured by the most unfriendly staff I have come in counter with.  Not one word was spoken to me after my pour, no "how do you like your wine, would you like anything else".  I will never return to this so called "gem" again.

Wow, i never knew this existed in Reno, boy am i sure glad my dad and i stumbled upon this place. The neighborhood around here is actually pretty nice, it seems like a local hang out. I didn't get a chance to eat while i was drinking here, but the bar connects to "The Bowl" which looks amazing, and it also connects to a Greek place in the back. There is an awesome outside courtyard area with a fire pit and music blaring. I totally dig this place and will definitely return the next time i am in Reno! Woohoo, Reno is stepping things up!

The service is well versed in the daily offerings, sometimes pretentious but never rude.  Wines are focused, unique and not typically available at most wine shops.  The location is great, ideally situated near the river and adjacent to plenty of nightlife and restaurants.  Being able to order a meal at Bowl and drink wines from West Street Wine Bar is a great way to share the local business love.  My biggest gripe is that you have to order wines from the bar even if you are sitting at a table because the bar is usually staffed by one person.

There are two types of people that frequent pubs and wine bars - people drinking alcohol (or alcoholics as I call them) and the drivers. Being the latter take my review with a lump of salt, because unlike my alcoholic friends I cannot go on tangents about intricacies of different sorts of booze, I can only reminisce about the ambience, atmosphere and stuff that does not really matter to anyone else than us - the drivers.

Dear driver, in the West Street Wine Bar you will enjoy a really pleasant atmosphere, nice comfortable chairs, that will make the hours that it takes for your friends to get drunk seem like minutes. While you are waiting, watching the group of human beings that you arrived with turn into lunatic monkeys, you can enjoy a pretty good selection of music. Unfortunately the music volume is set to a decent and pleasing volume, which means that you still have to communicate with you friends and exchange pleasantries with them, which only works when you dial down your IQ to be able to communicate without too much pain.

But I digress, West Street Wine Bar is a great place to wait and kill time - pleasant atmosphere, good music, clean toilets. A great place for drivers, judging from my friends reactions, possibly a good place for alcoholics.

The bartenders are super nice and willing to help you experiment with different wines, plus you can order food from next door and eat it at West Street Wine Bar. You can't beat the atmosphere...upscale yet casual, conveniently downtown and in the summer they can open up the wall and you can sit outside. This is one of my favorite wine bars.

Nice place. Good location. Good selection. The bartender/owner (I think it was the owner) is kind of a dick. Would have been 4 stars and actually returned but havent since our first encounter. What a prick.

West Street Wine Bar is a great hangout, complete with friendly, knowledgeable service and a unique selection of wines.  We have spent many an evening here.  The music is great, ambiance is chill, and the owner is almost always there when we have been.  Nice outdoor seating when the weather is warm.

We discovered it during a wine walk, when we had to escape the cheap wine along the trail.  People watching during wine walk and crawls is excellent here!

West St. Wine bar is my favorite wine bar in Reno.  The owner is frequently there, and is very knowledgeable.  The wines always hit their price point, and it is interesting to learn about the wine and the different parts of the world that they come from.  West St. Wine also has some great beer in bottles and a few great ones on tap as well.  Great place.  Will be going there for years to come.

We were visiting from the Bay Area in CA and my husband found this place on Yelp.  The 5 stars beckoned us!

We got there right when it opened (I assume, because there was no one else there and the bartender seemed surprised to see us coming in). It was early, I think 5:30 pm, but we were anxious to get out of our hotel and try out a new place.

The wine was good!  The reason for only 3 stars is that both my husband and I were a bit put off by the bartender.  He wasn't all that friendly, maybe he was having off day...?  He also REALLY pushed us to order food from the restaurant next door.  I thought it was great that we could order food from both of the restaurants next door  and eat it at the wine bar (seriously great idea!) but one of them must have some deal with this guy because he really REALLY pushed it.  We did however end up ordering from that place (I guess the other place was too busy to serve that night) and it was pretty good.

I wouldn't mind returning here, but I kind of hope to have a different bartender who's a little less off putting.

Always excellent service. Always an excellent experience. And a huge thank you for keeping this bar for the adults, not Santa's and pirates and rowdy idiots...I know there will always be a good atmosphere here despite the sidewalk drama!

If you're looking for a getaway from the smoke-filled casinos, this is it.  Friendly, knowledgable staff and affordable but interesting wines.  Atmosphere is hip and the music was great, basically indie pop and rock (Bon Iver, Foster The People, Naked and Famous, etc).  Reno will never be my scene, but I'd happily go back to West Street.

We love this place. The chill staff make it seem like you're hanging out late night in someone's kitchen after a party, sharing a bottle of wine.

It's quiet enough, but the music selection playing is awesome. The room is small, which makes it more intimate and romantic for a date night (so long as you are not the only ones there, or the only ones with one awkward other couple).

I tricked my husband into ordering the port, because it came with chocolate truffles. YEAH!

Great way to keep building a wine education as they are always featuring new stuff, and picking really great bottles to feature.

I love how focused this place is, too... there's not a million selections, just a few thoughtful ones and their recommendations are always spot-on.

One of the few very classy places in Reno. And a place my husband is even more gung-ho about than me. Good job guys.

I've been here a couple of times and I really enjoyed myself here.

The place has a nice, intimate setting. It's cool and trendy. Has a great selection of wines and beers. You can have some nice cheese with your wine as well. You can taste some wines before getting a glass or bottle. They play good music and the setting here is really nice and relaxing. The service here and bartenders are very friendly and the bartenders are very knowledgeable as well!

Great place to relax and enjoy a glass of wine or a bottle of beer!

Exceptional music, every song. I really enjoyed the atmosphere. Bartenders were also great. It was a little cold in there toward the end of our evening, but we were near the back door. Still, it is such a cozy little place to go and sit in for a glass of wine when it is cold outside. The best part? The 3+ menus they offered for food from nearby delicious restaurants. If you are anything like me, you are missing out if you have not been here to enjoy yourself one evening.

I love this wine bar, heck I love wine bars! My girlfriends and I gather here a few times a year and I wish it were more frequent. Good wine and service. The music that plays in the background is almost always music I know and love which always adds to my level of enjoyment. I never feel rushed and can just sit there drinking wine with good friends for hours upon end. It happens to be a favorite pastime.

One of the few truly great places here in Reno.  I have been going in since they opened and I have never ever had poor service; this is not the norm for our town.  Along with the very well researched rotating wine lists, the bartenders are all very knowledgeable and are the opposite of pretentious when it comes to explaining aspects of wine and wine culture.

As an added benefit, you can order anything from Beaujolais Bistro next door which is decent food. OH, and they have good beer by the bottle.

Good selection of nice wines and beer. If you don't know what you want the bartenders are great at trying to determine your taste. It is located in a nice part of towntown and its generally easy to find parking. It's a nice place to meet friends and easily spend the entire evening. West Street Wine Bar also allows you to order food from nearby restaurants and eat while enjoying a nice glass of vino, they even have menu's behind the bar if you ask.

I have been there by myself and I have been there with friends. A really nice place to have a sip and a visit. Very small, very friendly, very much going to be my neighborhood spot.

I will, however, avoid it all costs during wine walk!

This place is very cool. Good for a first date or just a good talk. I'm not a super wine freak but they are good at recomending a nice tasting wine. I enjoy the Australian white wine.
The music from their pandora station is always cool, never to loud. Nice, friendly bartenders that let you be. Very nice, upscale place.

Great place to hang back and have a glass of wine. I've known Rick since I started drinking in there, and the guy has always been one of my favorite fixtures in the Reno drinking scene. He knows his wine, knows his business. And West Street is always a scene to watch people in Reno. From strange folk driving bright orange Lambos trying to pick up on the employees and owners, to aloof douche nozzles who think they know more than they do, to some of the most salt of the earth, funny as hell people that town has to offer, West St. is the place to be.

And Sammy introduced me to the Molly Dooker there, which really completed my life. I dig it, and will always be a patron.

The owner I assume "Rick" was a total jerk. He treated me like the lowest of the low class. The look on his face while I placed my money in his register was pure disgust. I will never indulge in such negative energy EVER again!

Took some out of town friends to West Street and it still doesn't disappoint!  We met Chase, who is a trained sommelier and preparing to go off to culinary school.  He was friendly, personable, funny and shared his stories about living in Italy for two years.  Thanks to him we had a wonderful time and can't wait to go back!

While I can't actually drink wine, I have been getting an informal education in making quality wine purchases for friends from West St Wine Bar owner Rick Martinez.  Martinez turned me on to an excellent Australian Shiraz for our Art Director's birthday and it was an exceptional value.
Beer lovers will appreciate the bar's selections of quality imports. Go check this neighborhood favorite out. You will be very pleased with their offerings and excellent service.

This is one of the "must see" spots in Reno. There is not one negative thing I could say about this place. The owner knows his wines and is amazing with his food pairings. As a chef and as a lover of food and wine I find this place to have it all. This is the perfect venue to bring a date or to bring family and friends. The location couldn't be better, and provides the perfect setting for a post date walk down the river. Everything is moderately priced. I urge everyone to experience the West Street Wine Bar!!!!!!!

I need another star. Rick and Sammy have done a top notch job. Great business model-- they keep overhead low and serve great wine at prices that are affordable. They really know their products and invest lots of time to help you discover something you'll like. Dependable, reliable and never fails to please. I sound jaded. Promise I'm not related to them in anyway. Just a happy customer.

Great wine selection by the glass!  Staff and vibe is extremely friendly.  Walking distance from the downtown hotels.  A must if you are craving some down time with great wine and people.

The West St. Market is very casual in general and the W. St. Wine Bar is the gem. Hey you can order any food from the Market restaurants (including Beaujolais) and bring it in, or you can order food from the wine bar.  Otherwise the wine bar is wine and beer only.  Oh, and real sugar coke from Mexico and cool coke from the UK, and a small but great beer selection in cans and bottles, or Stella on draft.  Yeah, so bring your girl and have a beer, or bring your guy and have some wine. Hey, you like something a lot and want one for home?  Rick will sell it to you retail.  Rick is very cool and very knowledgeable.  He's not a snob, there is no drama here. And when it's nice out you can drink at a table on the sidewalk.  Very chic.

Very cool place. Great vibe with very helpful service. Nice wine selection by the 2.5 oz., glass or bottle. The front of the bar opens garage door style so the place has a very open air feel. They also have a very cool beer selection. The back of the bar opens to a couple of specialty food restaurants that go great with your wine. The owner Rick has done a great job on this place. Check it out.

Id call west street wine bar and the entire west street market a real gem of reno. I visit the wine bar at least once a week either to get a break from the office and work a little, or to meet my girlfriend after work for a drink, and other times we visit in the later evenings for a place to relax.

It's small and cozy. modern and minimal. Graet people watching. Their wine selection is great and the owners are just awesome. Very helpful with making selections. It's always a nice mix of people. Food is all around you and you can bring it in.

I find it hard to say anything bad about this place. What they created is unique and I really enjoy it.

This place is awesome! The vibe is cool and trendy (in a good way!) The staff and owner are friendly and willing to suggest something new to try. They have an awesome wine selection that is very reasonably priced. They serve by the bottle, glass, ounce, or flight. I suggest trying the flight with a friend then choose a glass of one you like!
West Street Wine Bar is a great place to go to relax, listen to good music, and have a great glass of wine!
