I have only been here a couple times but I disagree with the two reviewers so far. The location SUCKS unless you live at apt complex Jefferson Commons or The Reserve or whatever they've changed to name to since the last time someone got shot there. Second, maybe they do have an alternative night but every time that I have been to this place (twice) it was full of d-bags.
One of the nights that I went here, the patrons tried to boo off the DJs who were playing good retro soul/disco dance music. They were screaming for top 40s and weren't afraid to give the DJs a piece of their mind.
Hello! I was just informed today that Wilde's Chateau has a monthly drag show. Being that I used to work at the Drag Queen Capital of the world, I've been missing las reinas something fierce now that I live half a country away.
Today, I visited Wilde's Chateau for the first time. The occasion: a 3-year-old girl's birthday party. Talk about a 180 from a drag show right? But that's just one thing that makes the Chateau so refreshing.
I was really impressed with the space--it has all the cozy little nooks and crannies that are bound to make this an inviting place to go for a night out, even a date, if one can even conceive of going on a date to a club (not my typical choice). There is an intimate vibe, if you want that, and there is a large enough dance floor, though not *too* large. A lot of clubs make that mistake and it's usually a grave one, because most people feel too self conscious to dance in a large open space.
The people behind Wilde's are also behind another favorite bar/coffee house in town, that being Henry's. Like I said in that review, they really "get" the business. I appreciate that they are one of the few alternative lifestyle nightlife options in town (Wednesdays are pride nights at Chateau and I recall there is a similar night at Henry's).
I appreciate that they always make sure to put little "extras" into the decor, like a running fountain in the middle of the room leading up to the dance floor (it also has tables and booths in this room), a "fake" fireplace in the front area, a wrap around porch where you can sit outside and smoke (in one closed off section) or enjoy a warm evening.
The vibe is a lot like Henry's Upstairs, which is one of my favorite places to get a cocktail in town. Cozy where you want it to be, but can accommodate larger groups, too. (FYI they rent out to private parties of all sizes due to the fact that there are several sectioned off spaces).
I can't wait to go back and applaud the queens!
