Same old bar local bar, same bar flies, good friendly staff...love that this was where I met my husband. They actually have a happy hour now, woo hoo. If you are visiting Grapevine, be sure to stop by for a beverage. Hate the smoke!!!

Since my first review was deleted I'm re-posting a review to see if it was a glitch or if Yelp pulled it.

Out of a dozen or more restaurants I tried while staying in Grapevine, Wilhoits was by far the worst experience for both food and service.

Walking in it smells like an ashtray. Looking around it looks dirty, dated, and needing a facelift. Ironically, a Grapevine resident told me the place was less than 10 years old.

With 10 years of restaurant work experience I'm sympathetic to anyone in the business... especially servers.

My server had a bad attitude from the first moment and only got worse. She had no clue what a microbrew is, and after rattling of the list of usual farting davidson favorites "bud, bud light, bud ultra light, bud ultra no taste" she made it clear that it was my fault all they sell is cheap crappy beer.

When I asked if the burgers are good her attitude got even worse. I ordered a patty melt with onion rings that was dropped by another server. No check back after the food was dropped. The burger was served with fries. I ate the mediocre burger (not the fries) only because I was so hungry. Had to flag her down for the check.

I almost always tip a minimum of 20% even when things aren't perfect. The service and the servers' attitude was so bad I rounded up the total to an even dollar amount netting her a 17 cent tip.

Wilhoits gets one star only because ZERO stars are not allowed by Yelp.

Wilhoite's, for a Sunday brunch, gets a solid A-OK and a half (3.5 stars) in my book.

When a friend suggested we meet her here for breakfast on a Sunday morning, I was not sure what to expect. I've been to Wilhoite's in the evening, and Sunday brunch is the last thing I would associate with the place.

I walked in, saw (and smelled) the Wilhoite's I know. Yes, smoking is allowed and even in the non-smoking section you won't escape the smell. Luckily for us, smokers we at a minimum, and it was not that bad.

What did surprise me was the omelet bar, the waffles, and the variety of food at the buffet. The omelet was whatever you want from a wide variety of ingredients. The made to order waffle was also surprising good. I also sampled many, though not all, items from the buffet. Everything I tried (biscuits and gravy, brisket, deep fried cod, fried chicken, lots of fruits and vegetables) was OK. For $12.00, it struck me as a pretty good deal and you certainly could eat your fill with good variety.

So bottom line, much better than I was expecting and worth keeping in mind, especially if a trip to Grapevine (i.e. to see the new glockenspiel) is on the agenda.

This is a mediocre bar in a great location.  I have never tried the food, but the have a menu and a buffet.

    Nice front porch.

Not thrilled with this place. Ambience as a party western biker place was created from the ground up in yuppie tourist-ville Grapevine. I'm not so sure I'm buying it. But I stop in to get a drink as it's still early (7:30) and the place isn't full yet. So then why is the female bartender giving me the once over and making her way over to my corner of the bar ever-so-slowly? Newsflash, hon: I'm not too fit to drink. Nor am I too fit to know when I'm getting one part of vodka to a whopping four parts of soda in a glass 3/4 filled with ice. She really should have saved the attitude for someone who wasn't going to tip.

While I am not  a huge fan of crazy biker bars, this place isn't too shabby. It's located right in the heart of grapevine which does make parking a little difficult if it is a busy night. There is a certain clientele at this bar, so if loud and rowdy isn't your crowd then you may want to head somewhere else. Drink prices weren't great but weren't horrible either. Great place to go with a group of people but don't expect to be able to have any sort of audible conversation unless you are outside on the patio. Service was slow but the waitress was friendly!

We were invited by some friends to go out for drinks in Grapevine. We show up here, and the shenanigans began. Service was slow, but watching wasted bikers chat up cougars made the wait acceptable. The people watching here is phenomenal.

If you sit outside, prepare to be deafened by motorcycles leaving every few minutes. Usually once they made noise and left, they would just cruise down the street an come back and sit down as if they just went to the restroom. Some incredibly old people were dancing inside, and they were amazing. I would come back here again, just for a couple beers and some amazing people watching.

For those wondering, the restrooms are hidden in the corner under the stairs.

With out a doubt, Wilhoites is my favorite bar of all times! Great music, Great people and Great bartenders! I don't know how they keep up with serving all who enters. Overall a fun place to be!

It is what it is.  What is it?   Average food, average drink selection and average patio.  It's good for people watching(all the old fart Harley guys thinking they are cool, cougars, baby boomers sowing wild oats).

I usually don't venture this far out to do a girl's night out but everyone was game so LET'S GO!  The band was awesome.  The food was frozen fried stuff.  Worked for what we needed but not something we would usually order.  We couldn't get over our waitress CLEANING HER EAR while taking our order and before handing us our drinks.  It was an ongoing issue.  We were SKEEVED OUT.  May hit it again for a cocktail if I'm in the area but not going out of my way again.

We went to grapevine for the Christmas festivities and popped into willhoites for dinner... After sitting for about 10 minutes watching the waiters bustle around, my dad got up and tracked one down. He asked her if someone could come help us and she said no- she was too busy working her section, but would "try" to find the waitress for our section. We waited another 10 minutes before we walked out- defeated and HUNGRY!

Terrible service from Holly. We felt like we were bothering her by being there. It took her *several* attempts to get our checks correct.

The eggs on the brunch buffet were woefully undercooked, runny and raw. How hard is it to cook scrambled eggs? Good grief!

I'd avoid this place unless you're sitting at the bar and just ordering drinks. I would not eat there.

I ended up here one night for dinner with a big group on our way back to Dallas from a Fort Worth excursion.

I nearly gave it a one. The food was worse than mediocre, the service very slow.

I realize this place is probably considered more of a bar, but when I asked what foreign bottled beer they had, the waitress had to go to the bar to find out, and came back with ONE option (Heinken). Really? And besides, they have the word "restaurant" in their name, so it's fair game to judge them on food.

But .... two of my friends got the burger, which they said was decent.

And the restaurant has an old fashioned "salad bar." I ordered chicken fried steak in order to get a trip to the salad bar. Anyone miss those 70's and 80's style salad bars? I don't think I do, but it was fun to go through one after all those years. Iceberg lettuce, packaged carrots, thousand island dressing, fake bacon bits. You get the picture. Unfortunately, it was the highlight of my meal because the chicken fried steak was .... let's just say I've had much better.

So the the word-of-mouth burger compliments and the old-fashioned salad bar bumped it up from one star to two stars. Barely.

Not my cup of tea.  Very popular in Grapevine for years, we finally tried it after driving by hundreds of times.  Bottom line, it's a bar.  Bad bar food.  Unremarkable.  Very historic building.  Ever-present smell of cigarette smoke even in the "non-smoking" hole (dark corner under an overhang - MOST of the building is smoking)  It is always packed so they will not miss my business but it is not a place I would take my non-smoking family.  It's a place for the three b's - booze, bikes (suits during the week, leather on the weekend types), and buddies.  Enjoy.

Wilhoites feels like "a friendly biker bar"  They make the non-smokers sit in the back...now that's a twist!  I was afraid someone would ask what kind of bike I was riding and we'd be thrown out 'cause we had to say , "uh the pick-up truck kind"...OK, let's see!  Enjoyed the historical old building (the story of the place was OK)...in general, had an OK lunch.  Chili was OK, French Dip was OK, the Nacho's were OK and the beer battered onion rings were OK... our waitress was better than OK and asked the cook to make up some spicy ranch to dip the rings in..special  just for us!   Did I mention that I thought this place was OK?  Oh OK, just checking.

had a great time with some girls from work here a few weeks ago. the music was really surprisingly good, and i had never been here so I really enjoyed it.

overall pretty cool, kind of older crowd though, which is fine until you come in with a lot of young girls and crowd the bar, then the older women that maybe aren't enjoying life are mad that you are standing close to them and so I say "sorry!" , you know didn't mean to stand too close, or yell over the music... and they both look at me, make an ugly face, and then turn their heads. HELLO! I'm still standing here!! like 5 inches away from you!! hahaha.. oh well. still a good time.

Having grown up in Grapevine, I have known about Wilhoite's for many years. My parents used to take my sister and I for Sunday brunch and we would get the custom made to order omelet breakfast . Not sure if they still do this now, as I haven't eaten there in years. I did however hang out there with some of my old friends from high school (go Mustangs!) on a spur of the moment mini- reunion night out. We had already eaten dinner before we went out, so we didn't order any food. From what I have read on the reviews here it's probably a good thing we didn't. The full bar was great though, and they serve one of my favorite sometimes hard to find beers, Newcastle Brown Ale. The people watching here is fun. It's definitely a cougar zone and a mix of late 20's to to 50 somethings and everything in between. yes there are plenty of bikers, but the mellow, past middle age breed that are about as abrasive and dangerous as soft soap. My second round I had Jameson's Irish Whiskey, straight up, as all whiskey should be drank. I'd have preferred Tullamore Dew, or Bushmills, but Jameson's seems to be de riguer in bars these days. One of my friends had a Shiner Bock and a shot of Jack, which was poured from a spigot and was warm. She thought the spigot was odd, (Whiskey on tap, maybe this is a biker bar?) and she said she prefers her jack ice cold from the fridge. They have live music on Friday and Saturday and the band that night, I don't think I caught their name, sorry guys, no plug for you, was a typical if decent bar cover band. I felt like they were trying too hard to please everyone though, as they played a veritable laundry list of 80's 90's and current hits that included Journey, Katy Perry, Alanis Morrisette, The Allman Brothers band, The Ramones, Metallica, B-52's, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and many more. There is a small dance floor in front of the even smaller stage and it was amusing to see what some people consider dancing. It was a fun night and the crowd mostly laid back. After awhile we moved out front to the outdoor covered patio that sits right on Main St and watched as tipsy, drunk, and hammered folks meandered in and out of the place, Harley's were started up with roaring pipes, a white stretch limo picked up some old guys and thier dates, and the evening began to wind down. All in all a fun relaxing night, watching the funny drunk people, and listening to a decent cover band, and talking with old friends.

DON'T- I repeat- DON'T park in the front spots directly in front of the restaurant unless you are a bike and by bike I mean motorcycle!  I made the "mistake" of arriving just before opening time, seeing all these empty spots and parking right in front.  About the time I got out of my SUV, I started to get surrounded by all kinds of people on bikes who pretty much pushed me out of my spot,  I felt so bad I HAD to move my car to the lot across the street.  YES, I HAD to.  It was like I had broken some sort of unspoken rule about bike parking.  Just so you know, I have been here or driven by here on other days and yes the bikes are parked right out front, so I guess I should have known better right from the get go.

And I'm knocking them down a star because I just can't get past the musty smell of the place.

Im not sure on the service or the cleanliness, but this place is a total hoot.

Here is a rundown of my experiences.

    1. I see a woman in a full on fur coat. Me - Is that a fur coat for real. Fur lady - Yes, its a fox. Me - Thats gross.  Yes, I did say that... and yes, it was gross.  Later I see she tucked it under her hiding it some... (dont worry, I was punished for this later)

    2. A George Carlin lookin dude comes up to me and my group and asks for us to sit at his table... not because he wanted to hang out, but because he was leaving and didnt like the guys eyeballin his table nearby.  So he wanted us to get it before they could get it.

    3. I go to the potty... minding my own business in line... (here's where karma kicks my booty).  The lady next to me says - OMG, you look just like my daughter and grabs my head and shoves it in her boobs... it seemed like it lasted forever... and she wouldnt let go until it was her turn to pee.

    4. The band was pretty good... typical cover band, but the drummer looked like marilyn manson and had a dress on and the singer had an orange fro... dont get me wrong - they totally rocked!

Needless to say - it was a fun time.  Cold beer and a good story for the next day!  What more can you ask for!

I am kinda surprised to see the majority of low reviews but I still enjoy this place, they offer good beer and a decent price. I do like the Sunday breakfast they offer and think for all the fresh fruit, veggies, biscuits and gravy ,make your own omelets & the waffle station that the price for two people $20 wo any drinks was decent. The crowd is what you would expect from a biker bar.

Live music on most Friday and Saturday nights draws alot of locals.

I have been to Wilhoites several times over the years.  Seems anytime there is a lunch meeting or training lunch, we go to Wilhoites.

The food is bad, and by bad I mean REALLY bad.  I usually find a reason to excuse myself from the lunch meeting if I can get out of it.

It smells really funky inside, sorta like some old gym shoes or foot odor.

Not a place for me, but I do see how some fit in there..LOL

Being a rider of the Harley Davidson motorcycles I like to stop by Wilhoites to see riding buddies. The service leaves much to be desired, the food is not that good but for a place to park and hang with other bikers it is a good place to stop.

Tap Inn has better food and service.

Wilhoites is the place that I first got to go to back in 1987. My parents took us. We had some decent food, their reasoning was you go to support local. Always. Well the atmosphere was a little more family back then during the day anyway.
In the 2000's I had the pleasure of meeting Ted Wilhoite who was an absolute character. He was about 92yrs old then. I asked him if he was apart of the posse that chased after the Bonnie&Clyde gang members that robbed the Grapevine Nat. Bank down the street ? He said and I quote, "Shit No, I went home!"
If you like having a beer and watching the weekend warrior biker style and the girls who are out to get as much cash as possible from one of them you will enjoy.  Sometimes you can see all kinds, the old, the young, the haves and the have nots. You will for sure see the $40k a yr millionaire posers. Those are fun to laugh at! Believe me the metroplex is full of these people. It does not let you down in that department.

Great biker bar, if by "biker bar" you mean 50 year old guys who just bought their first Harley and only ride on nice weekend weather. It is a 'safe' biker bar. Not that there is anything wrong with that :) That kind of riding is better than no riding, so I'm cool with that. And they are good guys too, willing to talk with anyone about their bikes, and they don't care if you ride up on a Harley or Jap. The biker/non-biker crowd gets along fine, too, which isn't always the case at some biker bars (or at bars that aren't bike-friendly). The dudes who ride in aren't trying to be hard-asses, no one is getting shot over a meth deal in the parking lot, and there aren't signs saying "No Colors" (if you don't know what that means, then Wilhoite's is OK for you, and you can wear all the green or orange-on-red you want). Order a beer. Sit on the patio. Check out the bikes. Just stay away from food.

Willhoites is a good place all around.

Good people watching, and usually some pretty good music.  The only reason I don't rate it higher is because the food isn't great and I personally like Esparzas, Tolbert's, Big Fish and some of the other places on historic Main Street better.  Wilhoites is definitely popular with the biker crowd, and don't mistakenly think of the biker crowd from 20 years ago.  This is a suburban, buy a Harley or other bike and be a weekend warrior crowd.  Very laid back place.

I would probably recommend checking out Willhoites more to grab a beer after window shopping on historic Main Street than for their food.  If you decide to join the biker crowd yourself there is a Biker retail store next door and you can just buy a leather jacket and you will be right at home.

Love leather?  Hate annoying groups of 18 year olds?  Wilhoite's is your new home away from home!!

You'll certainly have an eyeful of biker best when you walk through the often crowded doors, but you'll soon feel right at home.  The food is ok and the buffet is satisfying, but let's face it -- you're here for the kick-arse 70's cover band and a few beers to wash it all down.

A full bar will cater to your every need, and at a place like this, people will actually move aside to make room for you (aka NOT Addison).  I'm not sure as to the extent of their snotty-beer wares, but I've ordered a Pacifico numerous times and they always have it.

The weekend crowd is a bit older, but twenty-somethings like yours truly like to sneak in for the cougars and Johnny Cash sugardaddies (seriously, I've met one before).  This is a place where you can dance your little tail off to Brick House or American Woman and NEVER be the worst dancer on the small but fun dance floor.

I've never heard a bad band here, and the place is set up to cater to any mood you come with.  There's a dining area in a darkened corner that is somewhat sheltered from the noise.  A large patio is a great hotspot on Saturday nights, and two upstairs areas (one a loft accessible by a single spiral staircase) hold pool tables...and possibly darts.

Never pretentious, always entertaining (can you say, People-watching?), and the place you're mostly likely to run into your grandfather or favorite uncle out chasing the blonds on his 2nd life crisis.

What else could you possibly want on a weekend?  ; )
