The wine merchant is one of my favorite delis. They make high quality sandwiches with excellent ingredients and fresh bread that are priced between $5-15. My favorites are the Cajun chicken and oven roasted beef tenderloin. The tenderloin is a bit pricey at over $10 but you get what you pay for in a well-designed flavorful sandwich. The mixture of the tender beef with the kick the horseradish in the Tiger sauce gives you is out of this world. I'm pretty sure you can't get a sandwich like this anywhere else. It's one of the best deli sandwiches I've had in Baltimore.
Watch out for the lunch rush on weekdays. Either call in or get there early/late; otherwise you may be waiting a while for your sandwich.
My go-to wine shop even though I live downtown. The prices are reasonable, but more importantly they cater to the consumer by having quality wines with knowledgeable staff.  Other stores have might have more expansive selections, but the staff relishes the opportunity to speak about each wine as if they were the vintner themselves.  Oh, and the deli  selection is one of the best you will find in Baltimore.  One of my favorite places in town.
Review Source:This was my first time here (for the deli, not the liquor). I had seen some of their sandwiches before and they looked really good and well-sized, so I decided to stop in today after playing some tennis. The store itself is cool inside - they have tons and tons of wine racks and they also have a lot of fancy chips, dips, and drinks that you can get with sandwiches and anything else you buy. I went over to the deli where about 4 employees were talking and milling about. I looked over the counter and there were plates of fresh meat, salad, and other condiments for the sandwiches. After looking at the menu for a bit, I committed to the California Tuna ($6.99), which consists of tuna salad, sprouts, guacamole, and cucumber on wheat bread. They made it all fresh for me and I went home to eat it. I was amazed when I opened up the aluminum foil. Two slices of wheat bread piled high with tuna salad, sprouts, and cucumbers. There could have been a bit more guacamole, but I wasn't complaining that much. The sandwich was great and of course I saved a bit of it for later in the day. I'm definitely coming back tomorrow to try a different sandwich; apparently, they have really good corned beef and wraps also.
Review Source:This place is wonderful! They have a wide selection of wine  and the satff is always friendly.  Their deli sandwiches, made to order, are SUPERB and PLUMP with meat.  Prices vary between sandwiches but they are all mostly under $10.  My favorite sandwich is the turkey powerhouse but other people in my office (we order here for lunch at least once a week) favor the Raven Roast.
Review Source:Have been a huge fan of this great deli and wine and beer shop for years and they still ranked #1 on my list of best chicken salad and specialty sandwiches. Literally the best chicken salad in all of Baltimore- which is saying a lot. Also huge fan of the shrimp salad sandwich, the power house and the crab cake sandwich. A must go to deli!!
Review Source:I like to make a weekly stop at the Wine Merchant as a little gift to myself. I breeze through the doors in the late evening and wander around the visually appealing aisles of liquor and wine and pick up whatever I feel like drinking that week.
I haven't stopped at the deli counter yet but it always looks delicious. The staff if very courteous - simply quiet and helpful. I'm sure they would be able to give me any recommendations, if needed.
They have bottles to appease any wallet size and I can always find something respectable to take to dinner with friends.
(07/01/2010) Â Stopped in to pick up a quick sandwich and some wine. Â The quality of the ingredients were good, the sandwich was bland though. Â I may have chosen poorly, it was some special of the day with capocollo, provolone and supposedly roasted red peppers. Â I was also never asked what else I wanted on my sandwich. Â The wine selection was nice and the wine staff were helpful. Â The deli staff however, were not as helpful, especially the surly teenage boys. Â Perhaps I'm just not WASP-y enough, it is Greenspring Station after all.
Review Source:Yeah yeah yeah liquor and wine. Have you been to the deli?
My combo is always a sub and the heated up cajun chicken pasta. I've been going to this place for years (ever since I worked there at Green Spring Station) and I keep coming back even though I live 45 mins away. Basically any trip I make from Harford County going south, I always stop. Like Allison said, be prepared for a ton of people in there but after the standard lunch times, it kind of dies out.
Has anything you could possibly want alcohol related in here...the staff is extremely nice and the place is always packed at lunch time...but they get you in and out quick. The deli food is great. I always stick with the same thing when I go in...I always get get the Italian Cold Cut sub and it's probably one of the best I have ever had...I don't know why, it just does it for me.
Review Source:This is a pretty nice liquor store with an extensive supply of various beer, wine, liquor, etc. Â They also have a deli that serves amazing food. Â I always get the club on multi-grain bread and it is sooo good and absolutely giant (it's basically 2 sandwiches). Â In addition to the deli, they have a small section of homemade refridgerated food including crab dip, spinach artichoke dip, salad dressings, pudding, etc, and everything is fabulous. Â If you stop in to pick up lunch at noon on a weekday, be prepared for a mob... this place is incredibly crowded, and for good reason.
They have wine/beer/food tastings every so often, usually on Friday afternoons. Â I would definitely recommend going, it's a good opportunity to sample what they've got and fall in love with everything here.
