The Wolf feels like that really awesome place you find on vacation that you WISH was in your town. Â The ambiance is stellar. Â It feels like you're in the Northwest, cool, irregular tables, water served out of mason jars, eclectic things hanging on the walls, very outdoor-adventure themed, LOTS of space to have meetings or meet with a larger group for lunch, great patio for nice days and even covered seating out front.
Then the menu!  There's nothing like it in West Co. Organic, local food.  Unique (niche) menu  items. Quality ingredients.  This is a foodie paradise. Â
Best of all, it's a locally owned business. Â No corporate conglomerate making you feel like it's local. Â Truly locally owned and responsive to its community. Â
Every time I'm there, I think, "why don't I come here more often?" Â And I'm there weekly! Â
The ONLY drawback is that at peak times the service can be slow. Â Everything is ordered at the counter and the knowledgeable staff take their time explaining menu items to patrons and so you have to wait. Â But it's all worth the wait, IMO.
I've waited for more than a week to post this review, thinkng my impressions were too harsh. But they weren't.
This is mostly about awful service.
The Wolf either needs more workers or more attentive workers. While I was there, two of the coffee urns were empty, and one patron had to ask for the half and half to be refilled. Shoudn't somebody be "on point" to be watching this stuff?
And they weren't busy this mid-afternoon Saturday.
I sat at the bar for 7 minutes before somebody asked me if I'd been waited on. Holy cow, if YOU haven't waited on me, you can pretty much figure nobody has. 'Cause I'm sitting there in my coat reading my book with absolutely nothing in front of me.
So, I got some assistance selecting a beverage. All was well, until my beverage was gone. 13 minutes later, and after I asked for a menu, I got another beverage.
So, the menu was sitting there for a really long time, and it doesn't take that long to peruse their menu. Sit, sit, sit.
And, yes, I had my book with me, so I was reading the entire time, and not particularly stressed, but I started noticing patrons pushing the coffee carafes to get coffee, and all that was coming out was air. Nobody said anything. And nobody DID anything!
I ordered a classic cheeseburger with smashed potatoes. Yes, that's what they call them and yes, that's what they are. And with the suggestion of my server, I got the cheeseburger with bleu cheese. That sounded just perfect.
However, my "server of the moment" forgot to put in my order.
So I sat and sat and sat. Reading and reading and reading.
When the food came, it was DELICIOUS!! The burger was spectacularly grilled, with lettuce, tomato and red onion. The bleu cheese on top was fabulous.
And the smashed potatoes, well they were dog-gone spectacular, too! I don't know why they were so good, but they were.
So I'm so torn on this review. The food was fabulously spectacular. The service was a big fat stink pot.
