I go to Wolfies on the waterfront every week and have not had a bad item from the menu yet! The atmosphere, the food and the service has been the best! I always sit on the bar side or bar deck and the staff is always smiling, friendly and attentive!! The bartenders are the best in the area and always fast and make great mixed drunks and the best long islands! You can't beat the lake view and the deck seating! It osmosis back and really affordable. The Monday and tuesday drink specials are awesome! I have tried and love the tilapia sandwich, the seared tuna, the breakfast burger, the shrimp pasta, and the fish taco wrap! Everything is always fun and delish! I have never had a bad experience and that is what keeps me going back week after week! Awesome food, great friendly service and a location that can't be beat in hamilton county! :)
Review Source:This would have been 3 stars but the setting of this place saves it. I'm pretty sure they could have terrible service and I'd still eat here simply because it has a great view and outdoor seating. Oh wait! They DO have terrible service! But I still go. All the time.
It's not 100% terrible all the time but it's never quick. So as long as you're ok with that as you're heading in, it's totally a great place. I think just hiring ONE competent hostess/host would make a world of difference. I went tonight and there were TWO and both brains firing together still didn't notice the 3 empty tables outside while 3 couples sat waiting for a table outside.
Also, all 4 times I've been here I've listened to waiters & waitresses bitch and complain about their jobs, the other waitstaff, how busy they are...etc over and over and over. I was a waitress once. It can REALLY suck. But you don't bitch about it right out by the customers. You bitch in the KITCHEN. This seems like common sense but what do I know? Â
Food's pretty good for bar food. The pretzel appetizer is REALLY tasty, seems to stand out above all the other stuff I've eaten. They have live music pretty often outside. Overall, the atmosphere is what's getting the butts in the seats here and it's not like they're ever going to lose that...unless the lake dries up or something....oh wait.
I'm originally from Nobleville and I have been to Wolfie's often. Â I was there on Mother's Day (busiest restaurant day) and had the worst experience. I have always thought the service was mediocre at best and the food is just 'blah'. The kitchen is full of high school kids who really don't give a crap.
Anyway, our server comes to our table (a 10 top) and seemed super stressed (understandable) but got our drink orders without writing it down, then had to make 3 trips because he kept forgetting. Luckily he wrote down our food order but my sandwich was supposed to come with a 'full garden' and I had 1 pickle and 1 piece of onion... When I asked for extra pickles I got 2 more. Â It was all a giant mess and they were definitely not prepared. Servers were running food to wrong tables.
Every time I have been there it seems to be the case, nobody really knows what they are doing.
Also, my credit card was charged twice for 2 separate totals. The bartender swiped my card for someone else's total. Â It was taken care of as soon as I called.
But hey if you have been out on the boat all day and desperate, stop in.
I give Wolfie's four stars for ambiance as the food these days is just mediocre. Â I used to love getting the veggie wrap but they have done away with that offering so vegetarian choices are limited... meaning you can have some pasta without the meat. Â Boring. Â I love that you can sit anywhere in the restaurant and have a great view of Morse. Â Better yet, grab a patio table outside and you can see people coming and going on their boats. Â I will continue to frequent Wolfie's outdoor patio so I can relax with a beer but I will probably eat at home before I go. Â They do have cornhole a few evenings a week and now that summer is upon us, they will also have bands playing during the weekends. Â Also a great place to stop in for a snack while you wait for someone to pick you up from the docks. Â Or maybe you can make friends with someone who has a boat while you are there! Â *wink*
Review Source:We happened to be in the area and thought we'd try something new, so we decided on Wolfie's. At first, we were expecting the ambiance of Rick's Boatyard Cafe, but this is more like Flatwater Restaurant in Broad Ripple--very casual. Good burgers and fantastic prime rib sandwich. The view over the lake is gorgeous in the evening and we loved relaxing lakeside over dinner and drinks. Staff was kind of laid back, but I think it was because it was near the end of the evening and they were winding down. Definitely good pub food and laid back environment. Check it out if you're in the area.
Review Source:Just ate here for the first time with a group of people. Â The atmosphere was awesome with great views of the lake. Â However, the service was horrible. Â The server took forever to bring us our drinks, and we ended up having a different server that actually brought them to us. Â Another friend ordered a beer with her food order and it took him about 20 minutes to bring it to her. Â He actually brought it with other people's 2nd round of beers. Â I ordered the BBQ chicken sandwich without BBQ and asked for Mild sauce on the side (since I do not like BBQ). Â The sandwich was good, when I finally got my mild sauce (which did not come out with my meal and had to ask for it again).
The server (named Ryan) was extremely rude and seemed like he didn't care to be working there and to be serving us. Â He practically yelled at my friend to get her attention to get her drink order because she was talking, but he certainly did not have to yell because it wasn't loud in there. Â He didn't even bring her a lemon when she asked for with her water. Â When it came to the checks, he told us that we shouldn't pay with cash because he did not have a lot on him and that it would take longer if we did all pay with cash. Â He spilled a few drinks on a person and on a person's food when he was trying to give them to the correct person, and dropped the menus on the table pretty loud and careless.
Overall, I would go here again.... but will not have Ryan as my server.
Beatiful outdoor seating with a great view of the lake. The French onion soup was almost oily tasting and the portion of fries that you get charged a few dollars extra for was tiny. I had the chicken stripes tossed in buffalo sauce which we nicely cooked. Service left a lot to be desired. Empty water cups, mischarging for wrong food items and we had to find our own salt and pepper and ketchup off anoher table. Average at best.
Review Source:If you like the lake, cold beer, and some good food then Wolfie's may be your kind of place. I have seen a number of people try and make a go of this location and fail. The problem is once the weather cools down the crowds seem to move away from the water. That's a sham the lake look great all year round. But most of the other people running this location have tried to be something more than a lake joint when it comes to the food. Fancy foods and fancy food prices to go along with it. Wolfie's so far has made it past the summer crowds and kept people coming in year round, and how did they do it? GOOD FOOD call it what you like, bar food, pub grub, tavern food, or lodge eats, it has to be good food at a good price Wolfie's has gotten there. Now don't get me wrong the deck is a great place to kick back and have a drink and some food with friends on a warm summers night, but if the food is good then the same goes for a cool fall day also. Support has always been the down fall of this location, along with poor service and food!
I like Wolfie's it is what it is a lake joint with good food and drinks!
Remember to eat well and live well! And please no chain's!
I have eaten here twice very recently. Â The ambiance seems like a lodge or sorts, which a large fireplace and substantial outdoor seating that takes advantage of the immediate proximity to Morse Reservoir. Â In fact, I traveled by boat to the restaurant, which has ample dock-space for this very purpose. Â
I sat in the bar with a dear friend, who also happens to work at the establishment, but I won't let that relationship interfere with the rating. Â I was pleased with the wings we had at the bar. Â The bar also had some 15 beers on tap, though only about 4 of them were interesting. Â They do feature Gumballhead by Three Floyds, which I certainly approve of. Â
We also tried the spicy cheese sticks, which were only nominally spicy. Â Later, I ate the Bleu Burger, which I ordered medium. Â When it came obviously overcooked, I asked about it. Â I was told the cooks 'just won't cook it another way.' Â Whether through obstinate characters or poor quality meat, I was still disappointed that I wasn't told about this as I ordered. Â I paid an extra fee for a replacement of onion straws for french fries, and they were decent. Â
My friend ordered the sesame seared tuna appetizer as a meal. Â It came properly cooked, that is indeed only seared. Â It came crusted in sesame, which made it seem a little dry. Â It was also served with wasabi paste, soy sauce, and pickled ginger. Â It was the highlight of the meal, and was quite nice. Â
The beer selection was good, and the special for the night was $4 pints. Â I will probably go back more for the new tap selection, and less for the burger. Â
On the staff, many of them are friends of mine. Â The waitstaff was helpful, cheerful, and noticeably pretty. Â I would suggest that the restaurant offers a fair dining experience on Loch Morse.
