Woody's Diner

Until recently I've only ever been to Woody's seeking a bar scene. This is pretty standard for Royal Oak. Woody's does have a little bit of an advantage since it has three different levels that all have different sort of scenes for different crowds. The first level is the most casual and relaxed. The second level charges a cover and it's the most like a dance club. I always have a pretty good time here. And the third level is the roof which is really great when it's warm and is definitely one of Woody's biggest assets that gives it an edge over the other popular places downtown. I'm here pretty frequently so I obviously don't have much to complain about!

Yesterday I went here for the first time during the day. It was Sunday and they had a  $2 Bloody Mary special. It was much quieter but the waitress was really nice, the drink prices were good and the pizza was delish!

Somehow there were still creeps that had to be dodged. This is standard for RO but I thought maybe Sunday afternoons were an exception. I was wrong. Haha. Still though, I know I will back

I like it here. Quite the contrarian I see to the other reviews.
But when I am in the mood for an afternoon of cheap bottled domestic beer, a relatively empty bar, some Club Keno, some TV's , and some very salty and very delicious and very free unlimited popcorn then this place is just what the doctor ordered.

and we don't eat here and  usually depart by 8 PM, so I can't comment on the late night woodys.

I've done the rooftop summer scene a few times and I can't complain. It's a bar. It's a rooftop. What else are people expecting?

It's a divey party bar.  If you're expecting anything else...don't go.

Rooftop availability when the weather's nice, and a large, spacious room on the 2nd floor for large groups to congregate.

Friendly staff, great beer selection, solid drink specials, and the food's not too shabby either.

Had a very positive experience bring a few hundred people there, even in the height of summer...although it would've been nice if they would've cranked the air conditioner to "max" BEFORE we showed up at 4pm because it was a bit of a heatbox until it caught up as a thunderstorm rolled through...

...but still, "solid".  Definitely some place we'll be keeping on the roster.
