This is my number 1 place for oysters and their beer battered fish and chips. Their shoestring fries are so good with the fish! They are both must haves with a bloody mary to drink. The outdoor seating in the Summer months is always great for people watching while eating your dinner.
Fat people seating friendly:Yes, though try to avoid being seated at the high tops in the back of the bar area if you won't want to lose circulation in your feet.
I've visited Michigan a few times now, and every time I come to the Royal Oak area I pass by Tom's. The strategic placement of people on the patio and the wafting aroma of delicious fried seafood always made me wish I were a patron. This past weekend, that wish was fulfilled. We sat on the inside and people-watched. There are many beautiful people roaming the streets, and we shall stalk and creep accordingly.
Our waiter was very friendly, flirtatious even. I like ciders over beers, and he recommended a pear cider that was much better than the Woodchuck I usually get (it tasted more like juice. What can I say? I'm a girl and I like girl drinks.) He also recommended the fish tacos, which did not disappoint. They were breaded and fried, and drizzled with tartar sauce, with a side of buttered summer squash. My friend and I got the smaller portion, and each taco was still large enough to be a filling meal.
Good meal and a good view :) I'll be backkkkkk.
