I have recently tried Woody's Wings twice with friends, and have not been disappointed either time. Last visit, I tried the X-HOT boneless wings and my only complaint is usually I crave something slightly hotter; luckily, they have something slightly hotter!
As others have mentioned, the atmosphere could use some updates -- but the wings are nothing to miss.
I'll be back soon to try the Nuclear wings!
so this place has been around since i can remember, which was 2nd grade im now 22 and living in Miami permanently. Seeing as i travel one or two times a year this place is tradition, i HAVE to have my Woodys! There are two locations and i go to the one on Havana both equally delicious. There are TV's to watch in both and the booths are just fine for me. I just go to eat my wings and celery and get out to KO on my couch lol. The sauces are delicious and MOST of all they have taste i hate places that go for heat instead of taste! thats like asking for wings with heart burn and a zantac on the side. Love them, always will!
Review Source:Got take out from here on Saturday night for the first time cuz I had a hankering for wings. Prices I thought are pretty reasonable and the wings are MEATY!! yum yum yum. We got the spicy ranch (tasted like their medium mixed with ranch), medium, and garlic parmesan. Â All were good but the spicy ranch was the star as it was drenched in sauce. Â I would put that sauce on pretty much anything. The reason for only 4 stars is two fold- first they charge for carrots and celery which in my opinion should be a freebie, and second is that the medium had absolutely no sauce on it. It was all pooled at the bottom and they weren't coated at all. Luckily the spicy ranch had enough sauce to go around but that was very disappointing.
overall I will go here again especially since they really are worth the drive. craving them now
I can never figure out what the secret is to this place. Sometimes my order is exactly what I asked for. Sometimes it is close. The way the wings are cooked is not always consistent, either. While I enjoy the flavor of their sauce, I'm not impressed with their lack of consistency. Also, the interior could really use a complete makeover. It is old, dated, and dirty!
Review Source:My recent visit for lunch was rekindle my romance with this place. Â When I used to live not too far from here 20 years back, 2x weekly visit was a norm. Â
Comparing to 20 odd years back, nothing much has changed. Â The decorations, the video games, the location of trash cans, the location of soda fountains... even the employees. Â
Got the lunch special and added celery sticks with blue cheese and opted for dine in and ended up at just over $10. Â
I got the X-HOT with crispy: A spicy cayenne pepper seed sauce and it was just as I remembered.
Even though the $ was lot higher than the Wingstop, I can see that this place uses lot more butter for their sauces.
Atmoshere: needs updating real bad. Â The bathroom needs repair also. Â
If you love wings, this is one of the place you must try!
One of my go-to places when I am in town. It's a bit far from Dallas but these wings are deliciously juicy and decent sized as well. I usually get the honey hot and the mild . Be warned about the NUCLEAR... it's nuclear. The sauce is usually soaked onto the meat and they give you the sauce on the bottom of the plate.
If you check in, there is a yelp deal for free celery and dressing - which is always a nice palate cleanser.
I go to Woody's almost once a week! The wings are always cooked perfectly and the hot tip is to call in your order ahead of time. The place is a dive in all the right ways.
Newsflash - they are supposedly moving to Buckley and Alameda at the end of October! This is great as they will have a brand new place to break in. Hopefully some new video games for the kids!
Update: Â The owner of the new building that Woody's is/was moving into has been exposing a lot of 'hidden' costs. Not sure if they will move this year or stay in there old location according to the owners daughter!
If you are in the mood for some good wings, Woody's Wings serves some large and meaty wings.  I ordered mine with the hot sauce.  Also ordered the fried mushroom and jalapeño poppers.  The mushrooms and poppers were fried just right.
I am finding that there are fewer and fewer good wings around. Â Woody's delivers meaty and not overcooked wings, at an average price. Â I do get a little miffed that they charge extra for the blue cheese and celery though. Â I don't normally do the "check in" thing on Yelp, but you will get free dressing and celery if you do.
Overall, I would come back again.
This was my first time at Woodys. I ordered the X-Hot wings. Â I didn't want to try the Nuclear out of fear that it was going to be a ghost pepper sauce. Â It turned out, the X-Hot is not that hot. Â Frankly, I thought the sauce was Frank's Hot Sauce with some red pepper flake added. Â They do put a lot of this watery sauce on the wings. Â The sauce doesn't stick to wings because it is watery. Â I dont get a feeling that this sauce is "homemade". Â I suspect it's out of a bottle. Â If I was making a homemade sauce, I wouldn't overpour it on wings where there is about 1/4 of a cup of sauce being thrown out with bones. Â I would make sure the wings have enough sauce, but not more which wastes my homemade product. Â If I was pouring the sauce from a gallon container, then I would just drown the wings in the sauce just like the wings served today.
The Wings were crispy good and some of them were meaty, but some were also paltry. Â The fries were crispy good. Â They do give you a lot of fries for it being called a small order. Â The price was good for what we got, so I can't complain too much if the sauce is out of a jar.
I tried out Woody's a few days ago. Â Here's my overall impression from my visit:
I read the reviews on the cleanliness of the dining room, and I would probably rate Woody's about 3 stars in this area. Â When I walked in, there was a cluster of tables at the side of the establishment that were pulled together for a larger group. Â Though the group had already left, their mess was still there; it wasn't a nice sight. Â Seeing as how it was close to closing time and business was slow, I don't understand why the staff couldn't have cleaned up those tables. Â At no time during my one hour visit did the staff check up on the tables to make sure they were clean. Â This would have been a simple step they could've taken to make the dining room look nicer for guests.
However, the main dining room was well cleaned and looked very nice. Â I didn't mind the older decorations; I'm not as much of a neat freak as some of the other reviewers. Â I do agree that the interior would be much better if they would get new carpet. Â The current carpet is heavily soiled and needs to be replaced. Â But the bathrooms were pretty clean, so I have no complaints there.
Now on to the positive stuff:
The main dining room has a large screen TV. Â It seems like it would be a pretty nice place to hang out and watch a game. Â
The food is really good. Â I'm used to eating at Wingstop, but I definitely plan on making Woody's my regular wing place. Â I ordered a 6 piece, the smallest portion available, and was impressed at how meaty the wings were. Â I felt like I got more from my order than I do a 10 piece at Wingstop.
I ordered the garlic parmesan sauce, and I think that it's actually a plus that the sauces don't completely stick. Â The pool that forms at the bottom of the basket is a bit unsightly, but I like that the wings aren't completely coated in sauces. Â Wingstop drenches their wings, which tends to upset my stomach.
I would highly recommend this place if you're looking for some good wings. Â They really are as good as people say they are. Â Sure, the interior of the restaurant isn't spotless, but it's not unacceptably unclean either. Â If you're going for the food and not expecting an upscale establishment, you'll be satisfied.
Went there with a check in offer and they acted like they had NO Clue what it was. Â If you are going to have one of those offers at least recognize it when one comes in there. Â Aside from that, their wings are average and the atmosphere is rather dull. Â Their chicken salad is so/so which is what one of my friends had. Â Quick bite to eat? Yes. Â Looking for out of this world flavor? Â Might want to look somewhere else.
Review Source:The food is pretty good, sauces have a lot of flavor and the wings are on the table pretty quick. The only issues I have is that the lady taking my order had a baby on her hip and a playpen area was set up behind the register. The first time I saw this I was a little concerned, the next two times I went there, the same thing, but the kids were placed on the counter while my order was taken. No pants, just diapers. The tables seemed to have a dirty/sticky coating on them. I gave them three times, I will not go back.
Review Source:Had to check this place out after reading several of the reviews here. Just got back from lunch in order to keep things in my head fresh.
First the not-so-good: Decor & Atmosphere gets maybe 2.5 stars. Feels like it needs a good top to bottom cleaning, the glass front door was filthy with hand prints. The table in front of me has obviously been cleared and half assed wiped off with a semi-wet towel but could still see sticky stuff all over it (and a few other tables). Carpet is showing wear and should be replaced, along with some of the dirty football & baseball pennants. Â I understand what they're going for, but I would rather see new clean pennants with new logos, rather than stained, yellowed ones (the N.O. Saints one is a great example). A few of the ceiling tiles are showing water stains & need to be replaced. Get rid of all that crap beside the game machines in the hallway leading to the bathrooms. Bathrooms were fairly clean. Someone mentioned below a new coat of paint but I don't see it. Think they need to paint again.
Ok.. that's the worst of it. It gets better, quickly. Service was a little slow but all was forgiven when I got my food (more on that in a second). Attitude was excellent - the young lady was friendly, smiling & helpful in making a selection.
So now to the most important part. The wings. I ordered the lunch special - 9 wings, fries and a drink for just under 10 bucks. I asked for bone out with honey BBQ & Teriyaki. When my food arrives, I'm disappointed to see bone in. I'm wondering if I've made a mistake as I sink my teeth into my first bite.
WOW! These are awesome, incredible wings! They are crispy, hot, meaty, and tasty! All is forgiven and I could care less that they weren't bone out. THESE WINGS ROCK! The fries are excellent, crispy and cooked perfectly. The sauces taste great, although I do agree with other reviewers in that they are a little runny (especially the Teriyaki). But honestly it doesn't matter because these succulent little guys blow the doors off most other wings I've ever had. I'm definitely gonna have to go back to try some other flavors.
I would like to see some sort of wet-naps given with the meal. I mean come on, it's wings fer crying out loud and the napkins get stuck to your fingers. I had to wash up twice because I had sticky runny sauce all over my hands.
All in all after the meal I wanted to give 5 stars. I really did. If I ordered to go and this is what I got when I got home it would be a slam dunk at 5 stars, but since I ate in I had to take the interior into consideration.
I'll never be able to eat crappy pizza delivery place wings again. Not after what I ate today.
My boyfriend and I couldn't find the Wingstop in the same area. Â We finally did on our way to this place, and I'm glad we chose Woody's. Â It's a family-friendly place with TVs on sports. Â The wings and their flavors were great, and I can't wait to try their more unique varieties the next time we're in. Â There were quite a few young kids running around, and the noise level was a little high, but everything else was great! Â It's a nice, casual, inexpensive, and tasty family-owned wing place.
Review Source:This was our favorite place for wings in Aurora. Â We also got catfish there all the time, there just ain't enough good places left around where you can get fried catfish - it's to die for! Â Their wings were always plump and juicy and bigger than most other places. Â A friend told me he went to Hooters for the wings - I told him "You don't go to Hooter's for the wings dude." Â If you want wings - go to Woody's! Â The best!
Review Source:I have gone to woodies since the 6th grade and it still my top wings place. I like buffalo wild wings teriyaki sauce better but the medium and mild are my go to's for basic sauce. The new dining room is SO much nicer! Clean clean clean! & the young girl working there was so pleasant compared to the usual girls. I will be going back more often now that the dinning room is redo. Welcome back woodys!
Review Source:I received a really nice note from Woody's owner the other day. Â She told me that my previous review had really hit home and they'd made some changes, so I popped in last night to check it out on the sly.
One thing became apparent as soon as I walked in.  I was probably a little excessively harsh in my last review.  On my first visit, I expected the place to be a bar, and that's how I reviewed it.  It's not.  It's not the Piper Inn, It's not America's, it's not Buffalo Wild Wings.  It's a small, family run wings place.  It's more of a diner than a bar, although they do have a few  beers on tap (bud, bud light, and blue moon).
We ordered a few different baskets of wings and french fries.
The wings are really tasty. Â They have crispy skin but aren't overly cooked. As has been said before, the wings are meaty. Â They're a good size without being the gigantic, steroid wings at Hooters. Â We tried a few different sauces (hot, honey hot, and parmesan-garlic). Â The hot and honey hot are really tasty. Â The Parmesan-Garlic is interesting, it actually tastes like italian food:). Â The only down side to the sauces is that they are kind of runny and don't stick to the wings well.
The fries were perfectly cooked, and a great value. Â I think we paid $2 for a large fry, and it was a huge order.
The food gets 5 stars, as does the service. Â Everyone was super friendly.
It's much cleaner than the last time I was in, complete with sparkly clean booths and a fresh coat of paint. Â They still have old pac-man and galaga games, which is awesome, but they're still showing a lot of abuse from grimy hot-wing-hands. Â The overall atmosphere is bland, but not bad.
Tried this place last night for the first time.
Service was very nice and friendly, I had a few extra request and they worked through them nicely. I ordered 50 wings, 25 mild and 25 hot, the order was correct and done fast.
I can confirm the wings are very meaty, A nice change from places like wingstop where the wings are so small it's not really worth getting. I also ordered a pint of blu cheese, and ranch. Both where very good, I've had some made in house better, but it didn't effect the wings one bit.
The sauce was good tasting too, I would rather go with taste over heat any day, and I love heat. The only problem with the sauce is it's very runny and doesn't stick to the wings very well. I found my self dipping in the extra sauce in the bottom of the box. Next time i will ask for extra wet.
Over all I will be back many times come football season, if the only problem is I have to dip to get sauce on the wings I will deal with it to have a good tasting, very meaty wing for 35 dollars for 50.
I recommend giving them a try at least once. It's better then the run of the mill wing place for sure!
This mom and pop shop delivers everything you need for a great dining experience. They currently have a insane Sunday special that is generous. The wings are very meaty and the sauces are original and flavorful. Their menu is extensive and includes many comfort foods that you just can't find anywhere else. Stop by for lunch, dinner or just do a pick up, hounding be disappointed.
Review Source:I have been going to Woody's Wings for the last couple of decades and they still have the best wings I ever tasted. Â I love how there sauce range from plain to mild to nuclear. Â I have tried the nuclear and it was so hot that I could not finish it. Â There wings also come with veggies and ranch and a bone yard for your bones. Â
I wish that they had a challenge.
i went to woodys with my friend on sunday to watch a football game. Â I arrived early and placed my order. Â my friend arrived 15 minutes later and ordered s pitcher of beer. Â A gentlemen came to the table and asked us what game we wanted to watch. Â We told him and after about 15 minutes another gentleman came toward the tv and told us they don't have the sunday ticket anymore. So we had to leave 2 pitchers of beer and some food to go to Hooters. Â Unsatisfied service Hooters will now get the service they once had and the wings r better and the establishment is cleaner
Review Source:good wings! very meaty and large. not too "skin-y" or fat. they have a good selection of sauces. and the hot/dynamite is f-in hot! like the fried mushrooms too. tasty.
always good service and friendly staff. wait time is good. never ate there, always gotten take out. older, sports type of establishment. could use a little updating.
Pretty good wing place. Grabbed an order to go for a football party, so I got a little bit of everything: spicy, sweet, mild. Tasted great to me, and my husband really liked them (that's the real test). I'd definitely go back to get wings for a game again.
If you're going to go eat there, they have more than just wings. It's got kind of a sports bar atmosphere. Pennants all over the walls and football games on the TVs. Can't say much more than that though since I got my food to go.
I have been going to Woody's since I was a kid and continue to go for the simple fact that I truly believe they have the best Wings in Denver.
Wood's flavor is simple; a little red hot and some butter makes a great day of Wings galore and their prices are good as well.
Woody's is not a fine diner - it's a simple old school eatery with a great taste and fair prices.
It does feel like you're stepping back in time about 20 or 30 years when you enter Woody's but that's probably part of the charm of a  wings restaurant with a cartoon chicken as a mascot.  There's a NFL pennant on the wall from the last Broncos championship season and I swear it looks so old and faded that you'd think it was 30 years old.  It's probably the deep-fried atmosphere of the place that prematurely ages anything inside its walls.  You can almost feel your pores thrusting and releasing as they contort to try to keep the grease from seeping in.  The prices are a bit on the high side for fried food but Woody's definitely take their chicken wings seriously.  While it could double as a divey sports bar to some respect, Woody's is fairly family friendly in that kids won't feel to out of place.  If you just want a place to sit and eat some damn chicken wings, you could do a lot worse.
Review Source:Something is wrong with a place when a nurse on Buckley AFB won't allow you to sell their food as a fundraiser. Now, everyone that I worked with raved about this place, and finally goaded me in to visiting at lunch one day. I don't normally have issues with spicy food as far as my digestive tract is concerned, but this place was definitely did not my gastrointestinal parts good. For what you are ordering, I think the menu could be a little cheaper. The place in general has got a 'hole in the wall' kind of vibe.
Review Source:Definitely some of the best wings I've had. The prices are very reasonable, the atmosphere is friendly, and the food is ready pretty quickly. A new favorite of mine, the only downside is that the joint is a bit small and can be a bit crowded. The flip side to that is you can always (and I often do) order some of their phenomenal wings to go at good prices. Â
I recommend the honey BBQ wings, the flavor is outstanding and very strong.
