Zar Nightclub

I came here with some friends from high school, and I was quite surprised with how good this was compared to most other nightclubs I've been to.

There is a $3 cover, which is quite odd for Akron. Coat check is also $2, if I can remember. I'm not a big fan of covers at all, but it was whatever.

The dance club is divided up into a VIP section, the dance floor, and the bar. Having spent time in all three, I can tell you that all three are adequate. The dance floor is large and accessible, the VIP section is secluded and more upscale than the rest of the bar, and the bar is...a bar. There's nothing really special about the bar, except the bar is almost always crowded at night with drunk 20-somethings. Drinks are fairly expensive compared to other Akron bars, but it's nothing to complain about.

What makes this place different from other places such as Lux or the Barley House? I felt like the service was much friendlier here. One of the bartenders -- don't remember his name -- was giving me high fives for some reason. Maybe I am that cool? Hmm... Anyway, the bartenders and staff here are generally nice.

There's also a covered patio facing Main St. for anybody wanting to chill outside. Well, not really outside, but you get my point.

I must admit: I am content with my regular bars, almost all of which are hipster bars, dive bars, or some hole-in-the-wall. However, I can admit when I have found a decent nightclub, and this is one.
