3rd St Diner

Great place to go with friends late at night...much better alternative than Waffle House!

I came here because I wanted a quick dinner and it was close to my hotel.  I figured I'd be in and out quickly.  I was surprised by how empty the diner was.  I liked the interior of the diner -- looked retro and fun, though definitely on the dingy side.  I ordered a salmon burger with fries.  The service was friendly and efficient.  The food was all right -- the fries were too crunchy for my taste but the burger wasn't bad.  I was also really hungry so I probably would have eaten anything.  

I wouldn't recommend this place if you want outstanding food but if you just need to eat and get on your way, it wasn't bad at all.

I definitely think this place has potential to be awesome depending on time of day and/or whos on staff.Food wasnt as bad as ive heard and the drinks were awesome. But then again my first visit wasnt late night. A friend and I wanted something filling, quick and somewhere we could get drinks.  We went around 10pm on a thursday because we didnt feel like going to shockoe bottom(or the fan, or cary town) & hunting for a parking space!! =p We were about to drive past and he said last time he came it was good so we decided to give it a try.  Decent prices, nice portions, I was full and buzzed! I will say that the waitress' attire threw me off when we first arrived and the carpet 0_o ..but, oh well...everything in RVA cant be perfect
