Flatheads

I planned my wedding in 2 weeks and this place was perfect for type of celebration I was looking for.  It was lovely!.  Great view, great food, drinks (open bar) and staff.  All my guest enjoyed it!. We had the whole place just for us, table setting on the boat, ceremony in the patio with the city view, and dancing floor in the second patio. Torches, lighting in the bar and candles were enough to make it so beautiful.  Thanks Flatheads!

I had a great birthday mini-bash/outing at Flatheads, my group and I can't wait to go back. When I first arrived I was unsure of what to except, but the restaurant and it's staff exceeded my expectations. I love any place that is surrounded by the water, and this place had a  good aura about it. I order the fried oysters which came with a side of homemade potato "chips" and spicy aioli sauce. I went on Wednesday night which is their Singles Night ---they have line dancing (Cupid Shuffle..etc), and their Happy Hour is extended till 9pm.-- you can't beat the price for the rails either!


Single in RVA Rating: 5 out of 5 best nights for Singles are Monday nights (two-for-one deals), and Wednesday night. Great restaurant for Spring and Summer, bask in the open space -- this is the only restaurant in town located on the James River (too bad they can't set sail).

We usually go to Conch Republic. However as the place was packed we decided to try Flatheads. The concept of eating on a boat was pleasant and it was really nice to be outside. The staff was nice with us. We only ordered drinks (1 glass of wine and 1 beer). Prices were not expensive at all. The drinks were unfortunately terrible. The white wine definitely had some sugar added in it. It tasted weird and I did not take more than 2 sips of it. The beer was ok, but even a Bud could have been better. My husband finished my glass of wine. On the way back, we both suffered from a terrible itch in our throats and started wondering what they put in the wine (Note that we did not eat or drink anything else than the beer and wine). It was then clear that something was wrong with the wine. We got sick for a couple of hours and felt intoxicated. I will never ever go to that restaurant again. It is sad to say as the concept was nice and it could have been great. I am also glad I did not eat there.
