821 Lounge aka O'briens isn't what it used to be.
haven't been here in decades and it definitely isn't an irish pub no more. not even a pub.
decor hasn't changed in  decades. clientele has.
patrons have a darker complexion and older.. parking lot's the same, lots of pitholes. no striping.to aid parking.

-coming here  violates John Derkeyshire's  (formerly national review columnist) "screed"
-"(10b)do not attend events likely to draw a lot of blacks"
-my response: "f... " john.
-everyone had a good time here, no problems at all.
-not a rad nor fad place, Â just a cool place to hang with buds.
Really cool spot. Haven't caught the comedy show yet but stopped by for drinks. Nice and strong and reasonably priced. They have a small stage that I can imagine is good for comedy. I would say its too small for dancing...but don't tell the regulars cuz they make it work! After a few drinks...this bar turns into a full fledged CLUB! :-)
Review Source:*a long sigh* well for starters I'm not sure what this place really is! So it seems to be a bar, and a comedy club, and a pool hall, and a dance club, and a restaurant! This place has an identity crisis! The food...... w.WOW! Never will I. The drinks are good... but deadly strong. Which is fine with me. That means I only need 1 or 2. Watching sporting evens here can be a difficult as well.. not many chairs or tables. (Plus actuall size of the club floor is very small). Now to the comedy! To be a comedian and come to this place you need to have balls of steel! The stage is literally 3 feet from the audience.. but overall not my cup of tea when it comes to going out and having a drink, or eat, or watch a game, or see comedy, or anything else this place has to offer! Â BOO!
Review Source:I'd received an invite to attend comedy night at 821 on a Thursday evening. When we arrived, I saw, what appeared to be, a raggedy shack, but interestingly enough, the interior was clean and organized. Nothing fancy, but certainly nothing that would cause me to exit immediately. The event was to begin at 9:00pm, though when we arrived at 9:10, the building was relatively empty still. I sat at the bar to pass the time, and the mixologist that evening impressed me greatly with the concoction that he prepared me! My experience at the bar counter was probably the best part of the night, for me. As mentioned earlier, this was comedy night, and while people slowly filtered in, the host got on the pic and provided us with updates, "we'll be starting in 20 minutes", "we'll be starting in 10 minutes", etc. The host also did his best to humor the patrons a little, while we waited, and eventually the show began around 10:15. There were two opening acts, and one headliner. The first opener was genuinely funny, but the subsequent acts left me wanting to depart. The whole show, all acts included, was about 2 hours, and the two drink minimum did not seem to be strictly enforced.
Overall, I probably won't be visiting 821 Lounge anytime soon. The $20 cover charge, which I failed to mention earlier, just didn't seem worthy of the experience. Had the show started on time, then I would have felt better about it, but an hour and fifteen minutes past the advertised start time did disappoint me. The "urban" atmosphere of the place may be a deterrent for some, but despite the fact that I didn't fit in with the masses there, I never once felt unsafe. If you do go there, you can at least count on having a potent beverage :)
Dropped in on a Friday night to see Tommy Davidson, it was cheap but they tried to stuff WAY to many bodies in a the small space that is this "lounge". Â Had to leave because people were more occupied with the people next to them than the comedians on stage. Booo....take down their number and call them later we actually came for the show.
Review Source:This place totally freaked my friend and I out, we decided to check it out based on a review that we read about on here...come to find it left us feeling more than unsafe to even get out of our car. I wouldn't recommend any ladies to try and have ladies night here...you're definitely going to want to bring the fellas for security.
