I'm not sure who classified this place as Modern Europen, but I would say it's more of a Portuguese/Polish/Latin mix. You can find everything from pierogis to kielbasa to paella on the menu and while I didn't have the kielbasa I bet it's good because the paella and pierogis were MAD GOOD. Their white sangria is also really good, but at $6/glass I decided I only wanted to enjoy one glass. lol.

I will definitely be back to this place! I love it!

PS - If you're afraid to go to this place because you're looking for parking (btw, I'm not judging because I didn't come here for a while because of that) there is a gas station across the street that allows you to park on their property (right by the fence) if you go to Abigail's. If Abigail's had a parking lot (& cheaper sangria) I would be there every single day.

    Polish/Lain goodness!!
They have the best pierogi I've had yet. The sangria is awesome (what could be better than pierogi and sangria??) and the bar is spacious. This is a good or dinner place. I recommend checking it out.

Have been here a few times and love it every time. Food is great and sangria is also worth stopping in for! The ambiance is a quaint and cozy. They have attractive happy hour deals as well. Highly recommend.

I was with my family and we needed a real dinner, so we came here. It's a small restaurant with a bar. The portions are big and the prices are moderate. The menu is focused on Polish and European food, but you can get a veggie burger, too. On that night, they packed as many people as they could into a tiny dining room, so we were all kind of on top of each other. We ate quick and got out of there before the live music was to begin.

I had a great lunch at Abigail's today when a craving for Polish food brought me in.  The waitresses were very friendly and attentive (however, the restaurant was pretty empty).  I ordered the lunch special Beef Stroganoff, which came with a salad, for only 7.95.  My boyfriend ordered the Chicken Milanese.

I expected the beef stroganoff to have a creamy sauce and be served over egg noodles.  This one was served with bowties and the sauce was tomato based.  Nonetheless, it was delicious and really hit the spot. My boyfriend enjoyed his chicken, which was lightly breaded and crispy.  However, the balsamic drenched salad is served over the chicken, making the chicken slightly soggy.

It looks like they have several specials during the week, like $20 sangria pitchers and raspberry margaritas.  I definitely plan on going back :)

Stopped in for lunch upon a recommendation.  Energetic cafe.  Nice atmosphere.  Delicious kebab pita.  If in the area, will definitely stop again.

Its been a long time since I have recommended a restaurant so much after eating there only once. But I was introduced to this place by a trusted coworker who knows the area very well. We stopped in for lunch and you are immediately struck by two things - this place looks really nice and ....Polish and Portuguese?

The menu is simple and encompasses a lot of different areas and styles.
I ordered the Stuffed chicken with mozzarella and spinach. i don't know what the sauce was, but it was incredible. Had two scoops of mashed potatoes to move around in it and enjoy it. My friends had the goulash lunch special and were happy with it.

Waitstaff was minimal - one girl working bar and five tables. She handled it well. We weren't waiting around for drinks. She was good.

The bar is large and roomy. Looks like it would be a great night out. The patio is updated and enclosed enough from the busy street.

Prices were average, food was above average.

One comment for the owner - leave the canned soda in the back, pour it over ice and bring it out. The place looks too good to have cans of soda on the tables.

    Enjoy!

Don't judge this place by the outside or the location. The food is great, and the service is good. The restaurant has a nice ambience, and great rustic decoration. The only negative is that the food takes very long to be served. If it is crowded, then expect a nice wait for your food.

If you've ever been overcome with the hungering need for Polish and Portuguese food, then you don't have to look any further in Linden then Abigail's.

You bet your pierogies that this place is family owned by a lovely Polish family, while the main chef is Portuguese; authentic food is more than delivered here, it is cooked with love - you can see it in the presentation on the very plate.

The red Sangria is an absolute MUST as a great prelude or accompaniment to your meal.  Sweet and beautifully red with pieces of apple, pear, and orange in your pitcher, you'll be addicted in the first sip.

Start out with a mix of boiled or fried pierogies or any of their seafood appetizers to wet your appetite.  I opted for the Portuguese steak, which was cooked to my specifications, with a sunny-side up egg placed on top of a slice of cooked ham.  The proper way to eat is, is to cut a piece of the steak and actually dip it into the egg and savor the uniqueness of it all.  Steak and eggs is no longer a breakfast staple; at least not here.

Saturdays, Abigail's usually houses a live band for your entertainment, whether you're at the bar or the dinning room.  Nice night out?  Ask to sit outside on their patio - you won't be cold with the heated lamps they have situated throughout the space.

It's worth the trek from Manhattan or any of the five boroughs - feel Polish or Portuguese!

The food here is awesome! Linden needs more places like this.

They have outdoor seating, tables, booths and a bar.

    And some amazing sangria.

Did I mention how awesome the food was?

They also have live music sometimes.

If you've never had Polish or Portuguese food before, THIS is THE place to start...portions are good for the price...and did I mention how amazing the sangria was?

Wash it all down with that.

Just had dinner here recently after hearing rave reviews. I was pretty skeptical about the menu, half of it is Portuguese and the other half is Polish/Eastern European dishes. I went for the potato dumplings filled with meat which were good. I also tried the veal which was better than my dish.  The food took a really long time to come out. I wasn't wowed by the sangria either but I did like the novelty of drinking it with polish food.

We chose to sit outside. There's a nice patio but it doesn't have much a view, unless you like looking at traffic and the diner across the street.

My boyfriend and I were directed to Abigail's by a friend because we wanted "outdoor seating, good prices and a casual atmosphere". We got what we wanted plus some!

The decor was very inviting, especially since I didn't expect it from the "Bar and Restaurant" description. They made the inside and outside look like an old European house that could fit into any country. The bar area was low lit with a tv but the dining area was well lit and friendly. We ate on the patio out back.

The patio area was enclosed with a glass wall on the Elizabeth Avenue side. This wall didn't do much to minimize noise but it did seem to help a little. There was plenty of foliage and flowers and pleasant lighting to distract you from the noise of the road.

Our waitress was fast and pleasant. Even though she was busy she checked on us at all the right times (right after receiving appetizer, right after receiving meals, offered me another drink, offered us dessert). She smiled and didn't make us feel annoying.

Side note: For anyone who complains of rude waitresses and bartenders - Servers are humans too. They have bad days. Sometimes the person they served right before you was a total d-bag. If you find your waitress has a bad mood, smile at her, let her know she can take her time, just practice basic politeness and maybe even make a joke and you will see her treat you totally differently. If she is still being an a-hole? Too bad for her, you tried and you can tip how you see fit but don't make that judgement until you try.

I had the "Drink of the Day" which was raspberry vodka mixed with pineapple juice. The drink was not watered down (good bartender) and it was really good. It was kind of small for $5 but that's the way alcoholic drinks work. We had the potato and cheese pierogies and they were SO GOOD. Definitely homemade and the potato was so creamy it almost had the consistency and flavor of ricotta. The caramelized onions tasted like they were sauteed in some kind of wine sauce. Get the pierogies if you get anything at all.

My boyfriend had the Portuguese steak. He loved it. It came with some kind of homemade chips and he said it was cooked exactly medium-rare as he'd ordered it. He is a bottomless pit and he was satisfied and full after three pierogies and the steak (it also had ham and a fried egg on it though) so that definitely says something good about the portions.

I had the Salada Verde with shrimp. Mixed greens, tomatoes, feta, caramelized walnuts, a very good flavor combination. The shrimp was given generously and blackened just right. I made the mistake of thinking this salad would be meal size though. It was not. It was still a pretty good size but it was very light. The plus side is I had room for dessert. I had the tiramisu and it was very, very good. It tasted and looked like it may have come out of a box from restaurant depot but I didn't really mind (and I could be wrong) because I'm not a tiramisu connoisseur (I've liked it everywhere I've had it, every time). And then I was finally full.

The prices were reasonable. All together our meal (alcohol, app, 2 entrees and 1 dessert) came to around $50. We will definitely be going back.

    Summary:
    Atmosphere - 10
    Waitstaff - 10
    Price - 8
    Food - 10
Parking - 5 (no parking lot, limited street parking, but there is a gas station across the street with parking)

Great place for drinks or dinner.  Very nice relaxing decor and has a nice patio in the back for outside dining.  Small bar in the front and a dining room.  The periogies were outstanding. The potato pancake filled with Hungarian Golush was also very good. Fruit Smoothies were also very good.  The small dining room got very loud but the good food and drinks made it worth it. Nice dessert menu.  Service was friendly and prompt.
