Alibi's is THE dive bar. The bartenders are alright, I've never had a problem. There are some real characters in here.. some lovable, some irritating, some just trying to play some pool. The jukebox is awesome and loud, and the clientele usually have good taste (no top-40-saccharine-house-ke$ha crap here) but occasionally there will be someone who has bought up $40 credits worth of Garth Brooks.
Cheap beer, free nachos, (mostly) harmless drunks.
Be warned: this place gets crowded.
I had an awesome time tonight with Everyone at Berts Alibi! You all Rock!! Except the one woman bartender... (Whose name I won't mention but it starts with an A) that was so mean to me, insulted me numerous times and went way beyond what I consider decent behavior. I'm very upset... So, Fuck her!
Review Source:This is a dive bar within walking distance from a friend's place. Â We come here when we want to have a drink close by and don't feel like driving. Â The drinks have always been strong, the bartenders friendly.... The clientele seems to be mostly comprised of regulars. Â People know each other here. Â We are recognized when we come in and that's a plus, especially since we aren't there all the time.
Review Source:Don't expect to get any kind of decent service unless you're one of the regulars.
Also-- the best review of this place was actually intended to be a review of Mountain View Police. Â That "there are a lot of people with warrants there and the cops are always hassling them."
Here's an idea- don't have warrants!
After a few years now and many many MANY drinks, I have to say my favorite day to come is Monday days! Sangria Mondays to be exact. That would be Kami's time to shine. Her Brandi, Cabernet &..........Oh helll just come and have one. I promise its worth it. Nice group of regulars to mingle with as well!
Review Source:Alibi is aptly named, it's the kind of place where you may want an alibi to use to enter and exit. I've observed the worst of dive bar debauchery here, one night someone was tore up from the floor up and ended up on said floor, on another a full out brawl broke out between patrons and the bartender had to get involved to break it up. If that's your scene, that's cool, but it's not really what I'm looking for when I want to just unwind with a drink. I'd much rather prefer to not have to think about the best escape strategy to get to the door to avoid getting tangled up in other people's drama, thanks but no thanks, it's not for me.
Bottom line: Alibi strikes me as a legit dive bar, of the kind where one may witness any and all types of stereotypical drunken behavior. If that's your scene, great, but I'll stick to the dive bars where I won't have to worry about getting tangled up in a bar brawl.
This place is the place I went to the day after I turned 21. The bartenders are amazing, 1$ Pabst Sunday and Monday after 10 - close. The people are friendly as can be. You get sucked right in and they become a second family to. I live in Sunnyvale near other establishments but take little extra time to come down to play some pool, listen to music and watch football and baseball.
Review Source:WOW major awesomeness! Â A couple bartenders could brush up on their drinks though. the set list of some is kinda weak, but overall it is always awesome...or so I thought. in my original post, i really liked this place but must warn my fellow yelpers not to go on a Sunday night unless you like being overcharged or treated like dirt. Â The bartender is rude, unfriendly, and only knows how to pour beer and shots, and she seems to have quite the sliding price scale from free to major $$ depending on if you are her bf, a regular, or a casual patron.
Review Source:This place doesn't look like much from the outside. In fact it doesn't look like much from the inside either, but its not a bad little dive even though it lacks a kitchen. Â
People were very nice, both staff and patrons although there weren't many people here on a Sunday to watch football games. Â I hung out for a bit, but ultimately headed out to find another spot to watch the games and grab a bite to eat.
Friend took me here after work at our coffee job.
Ordered a Tequila Sunrise that was made to absolute perfection.
Had one shot of who-knows-what-tequila that got me good.
Played some pool with some random dudes.
No dart board to be found :(
Guys bought us another round of shots as we were leaving.
It was an okay time, except I did NOT want to get that sloshed when I had like a gazillion papers to grade when I got home. But I got through it, and it was fun, so it's okay.
Alibi is a solid dive (in that it's sketchy looking on the outside, and the people are friendly inside). I planned a company HH there (sorry if I killed the local ambiance with the "suit party"). They have a few good beers on tap, free chips, a ping pong table, and interesting customers. Some dude even brought his giant husky in, which was fun.
If it were closer to home, I'd be a regular. I may still go often enough.
This place has become a lot better since the remodel. Everyone is super friendly, and its a great place to go and just chill at. At least 3 flat screen tvs, one pool table, and one ping pong table. The womens bathroom is surprisingly awesome for such a little dive bar. Girls should go i just to see the HOT Owen Wislon poster on the wall lol!
Of course I may just be partial cuz my main is the bartender, but he does make the best drinks in the Bay Area. Go in and ask for an Extreme Beth, they taste awesome!
I have been introduced to this divey little hole in the wall by some friends who travel by foot every weekend since they moved down the street. Â But even tho its a dive, the bar tenders are awesome, and I seem to have fun no matter who is hanging out!
A plus, the womens bathroom is huge! Â and always clean! Â =)
My drinks weren't that strong and the bartending service was pretty slow. Â The drinks the bartender knew how to make were sort of limited too.
Felt like this place was more for regulars too, despite what other people said-- an interesting crowd. Â I must say, I was somewhat disappointed given the reviews we saw on Yelp.
I was hoping for a less crowded alternative to cocktail lounge, but probably going to have to stick with that place.
Interestingly enough, the bathroom looked like it wanted to be classy and such. Â Huh.
I've been coming here since back when it was Ugly's. Â It's SOOO much better now. Â It's always been the kind of place that I felt comfortable coming to by myself. Â They have TWO pool tables now!! Â YAY! Â
It doesn't matter who you are or how much you make, you'll have a good time at this bar. Â They welcome everybody and will chat you up all night if you're up for it.
Super friendly.
No over-crowded pool tables.
Plenty of parking behind the surplus store.
Super clean and pretty bathroom!
Cheap drinks.
Fantastic jukebox.
Lots of TV's.
This place is awesome!! I actually found it on http://www.ilovemv.org but wanted to make sure all my fellow yelpers know about it too! The Kamikaze's are awesome...not on par with The Black Watch in Los Gatos but definitely delicious and cheap too! The crowd is younger and hipper than you'd expect from the exterior of the bar....especially on weekend late nights.
Review Source:I came across this place when I lived in Mountain View (when it was still called Ugly's), but was always hesitant to go in. A friend and I decided to check it out, and it quickly became a favorite on my list of dive bars. (Plus, it was walking distance from my apt). Yes, it is divey, but it's super fun. Friendly bartenders (one of them shared her pizza with me) and cheap drinks. Â They have pool tables and a juke box...which is always fun. Â The crowd consists of mostly locals, but they're open to newcomers. Â The last time I went someone bought a round for the whole bar! That almost never happens these days, so if you're in the area...check it out!
Review Source:I will qualify this review by saying I am by no means a regular, or someone who frequents this place often.
But recently I have gone there a couple of times and had a blast everytime. Â Its a somewhat small bar, but the bar wraps around the whole area so there is plenty of room to sit. Â There is one pool table, a juke box with some good music.
The best part of the people and bartenders. Â One might be intimidated at first, but once you settle in grab a $1 PBR. Â Thats right $1 or a good cheap cocktail you will feel right at home. Â
Of the times Ive been there everyone is friendly and the bartenders like to talk trash (in a good way) and they make the environment really fun. Â
Overall fun bar, good times.
I'm bored so I'm going to write a lymric:
There once was a bar in which Brian could walk
It blasted of decent music yet still allowed him to talk
The bartenders were quippish and so very friendly
And of course $1 PBR went down o' so splendly
So if you're in the area and looking for a good time
I'd reccomend this dive bar of mine.
