Know why I love Alumni Café? Because it is the perfect place to come and relax - have some delicious pizza, a few beers and watch a game. They also have Keno, which is definitely fun to play if you don't already know.

The prices here are really great and I have no complaints about the food or service. The crowd seemed nice when I was in there and this is definitely a place I would return to.

Great place to go and get pub pizza.  Prices are very reasonable.

If you like to drink in a darkish bar that smells like stale beer like  I do , then The Alumni Cafe is the place to be. They serve bar style pizza and no other food so i suggest the pizza if you are hungry. Courtney is the cute red head behind the bar serving up the brews. She's pissa. Sometimes they have entertainment on weekend nights. You can dance and sing and nobody really cares. Have fun and enjoy some free popcorn.

Great bar pizza with fresh & plentiful toppings. The pizza lady's not the friendliest, but the people at the bar are friendly & there's always sports on the TV's. The new flooring looks great!!!

Three things I love: classic bar style pizza, cheap draft beer, and elderly women who call me "honey".  I can satisfy all these needs at the Alumni, great pizza, cold beer(Although I'd be lying if I said I don't mourn the loss of the $2-2.50 draft Heineken they used to offer.), and the waitress is a delight.  That being said though don't expect anything else from this Wollaston center landmark they only do pizza, (no subs, no wings, no salads, no pasta,) just pizza: delicious, bad for your heart, good for your wallet pizza.  I recommend sitting on the cafe side,  getting a draft of domestic, watching a local sporting event with one eye and watching your keno game with the other, and ordering a linguica and garlic, easy on the cheese.

I have been to the Alumni many many many times and would normally consider it a very fun and friendly place. Recently though I had the displeasure to witness the bartender working this Friday night confront a table of young patrons who seemed to be unhappy with her skipping a song on the jukebox and start a yelling match with them. This to me is just atrocious. What ever her reasons for her hostility it seemed to me completely in appropriate. Shame on you Alumni for employing such an immature staff.

I love this bar, the food is great and normally the service is amazing. BUT there is one bartender that I have encountered several times who is absolutely RUDE and confrontational. Last nigh she was down right INSULTING! I would recommend NOT heading there on a night with her behind the bar. She has a mass of curly red hair hard to miss.

Just moved to Wollaston and heard they had good take out pizza. No. This is the first time I have disliked pizza (because usually even "bad pizza" isn't that bad) I ended up throwing it out..and I'm a huge fan of bar pizza! Gave it 2 stars because it seemed like an OKAY place to have some drinks and hang out.

Alumni is the BEST bar style pizza in Quincy.  There is no Pembroke location though.  That would be Poopsie's which is owned by the same folks who own Liberty Grill in Hingham.  Their pizza is ok but not nearly as good at Alumni!

Haha, what a terrific dive bar.  We saw the pretty lil' bartender brawl with a patron over a glass of water and ordered a to-go pizza that came packaged in between 2 paper plates in a brown bag.  $21 for 3 beers & a six-topping pizza- you bet  we'll be back.  A movie for 2 & popcorn costs more!!!

Big fan of their Alumni Special Pizza. Where else will you get a 6-topping pizza made with fresh dough for less than $10. My wife and I have been going back to this place again and again, always take-out though.

Great dive, Super friendly staff. Great bar pizza. Jukebox with dial-up search feature. I am a big fan of the AC!

The bar pizza is over rated and at least one of the bartenders apparently prefers to give all his attention to his regulars, not seeking to make more regulars.

If you are looking for an old man bar where you can watch the Red Sox, drink Coors Light from a frosted glass, play Keno, and eat pizza... then the Alumni is for you! The atmosphere is mostly locals and there are quite a few characters for sure. People watching at it's best! Tonight I witnessed a drunk lady passed out at a table wake up to throw her wine glass and smash it on the floor. She then proceeded to stumble out with one shoe in hand. Barely a notice from the rest of the crowd who were too bombed themselves to notice.
The bar pizza is pretty top notch and is the reason this place is perfect for a week night pie and some entertainment. Helps that I won $21 on Keno which was almost enough to cover both pizzas and four beers which came to $26... Can't beat that!

As a fan of pub-style pizza, I always enjoy a cheese or pepperoni pie from the Alumni. Their pizza is consistently good. I wouldnt suggest any of the other toppings though since they look like they're straight out of a can (including the meat!). The place is a little rough around the edges but the price of a pitcher of beer and a pizza make up for that. While the food is good, the service sucks. I called tonight to order 3 pizzas and nearly got hung up on. I thought, "hey, maybe they're busy" but when we went to pick them up, the place was dead. On top of that, they gave us the wrong pizza. Really?

I give this 3 stars for good pizza but shitty service.

I came to Alumni Cafe per suggestion of a friend. It was my first time and i was amped up for this bar pizza! They do have the crispy crust that I was craving but the pizza itself was lacking so much flavor. I had to sprinkle salt on my cheese pizza...and I rarely use salt on anything... lol especially on pizza! This pizza doesn't have it down like Lynwoods in Randolph or Cape Cod Cafe in Brockton. I wouldn't go out of my way to get this pizza... but I would for the others! Staff was friendly and helpful at Alumni!

I've been going to the Alumni Cafe since sometime in the mid-nineties.  The pizza is top tier South Shore bar pie. Crisp crust, fresh toppings and a little zest in the sauce is all this guy wants.  The beer is cheap and good.  They wipe the tables and clean the glassware, but don't expect sparkling fixtures. The staff is as nice as they need to be. The place is bare bones and the loud, gregarious patrons love it.

GREAT TAKEOUT PIZZA!  But, as other people have noted, not a great place if you expect quick, friendly service at one of the booths.

I have had my take order messed up more than once.  But, it is the best pizza around, so I still order it and eat it!

They make BAR PIZZZA, a South Shore Mass specialty.  This is the farthest north that I have ever found bar pizza, so I gladly come back here.

The pizzas taste great!  BIG BONUS - they started taking credit cards for pizza.  Use the side door and you don't have to go into the bar.

    ONE STAR for service.

Perfect if you want to catch a game and drink beer and eat pizza before heading home.

Some of the best bar pies on the south shore. If you stay to eat in the 'dining room' i would recommend ordering bottled beer!  The drafts can be funky tasting.

Most people call in pizza orders for take-out and that might be your best option if you don't want to cavort with the local flavor.

oh, alumni cafe... first of all, i LOVE that there is big buck hunter and gambling and an array of tv's, but that's about all alumni cafe offers, so be warned - definitely NOT a place to bring/pick up a date or a go-to for food - unless you're drunk. i might even go as far to call this place trashy, but that's what i love about it...if you're seeking a no frills kind of place with cheap beer and cheap women - this is it.

    DIVE... LOVE.

My friend lives out here, so I trekked it to Quincy after work one day.   A room full of loud, older men chugging beer.

    MORE... LOVE.

I got a buffalo chicken pizza and a plain for $10 total.  I gave a $5 tip to the kitchen lady (I guess you pay separately) and she was SHOCKED.. Poor girl.  TIP TIP TIP!

Just fun to sit and relax.  I'm a fan.

Listen. This is a dive bar. and that's what's awesome about it.
They serve beer and pizza. the end (well maybe some mixed drinks)
but seriously- a group of 5 friends went during the last Celtics playoff game and there were maybe 10 other people in the bar +1
They serve Sam Summer by the pitcher +1
the pizza is small but tasty +1
2 pitchers of Sam and a sausage pizza? $25. Win.

the waitstaff is a little slow, but eh, just have another beer...

This is the only place I have ever walked out of.

I went on a Monday to try out the pizza and to get a pitcher of beer.  About twenty seconds after sitting down the waitress took our drink order, I did not have enough time to look at the beer selection yet so I started with a water.

She poured the water and was back within one minute.  I still had not had time to figure out what six toppings I wanted on my pizza (six topping for $10, is a special) so I asked for another minute.

Fifteen minutes passed and I went up to the bar to place my order.  The bartender asked me what I wanted and right around topping number three he rudely turned his back and started asking for the waitress to assist me.

The waitress was sitting on the opposite side of the bar watching TV the whole time.  I waited about two more minutes for her at my table then just got up and left.

I was bummed because it seems like the Alumni is one of the few places in Quincy where I can get pizza and beer.

Might stop by again.  But I don't see the point.

Well I am reviewing this based on their Bar Pizza only! Soooo good! My boyfriend was looking for some pizza in Quincy since he is from out of state and Pizza is his Favorite. I wasn't sure of any places, because I rarely eat pizza so I asked around and heard this place had great pizza.. Well she was right, my bf loved it and he said he will definitely be back. I had a piece also and it was deli-sh!

The beer is served fast, the glass overflowing, and they don't bother with coasters.  You are not going to find fresh fruit or anything fancy here - they serve booze, beer and pizza and they do it well.

Great Dive Bar, fun dive bar people, they also have an old school pac man game there for you to play while you wait for your pizza.

Any patron who frequents this bar shouldn't question the rank smell, the post 80s decor or the local characters slumped over the bar playing Keno. Beers are cheap, Robbie  (works Tuesday and every other Friday night) pours em strong because he wants you smashed. Pizza is greasy, delicious and cheap and they have a grimy popcorn machine you can help yourself to. I've seen really weird shit go down in this bar so I guess that's why you'll find us here at least once a month.

    Old-School-Dive-Bar at its best.
Quincy/Wollaston local-yokels abound at the bar, with dirty finger nails and flannel shirts drinking Miller beer. This place is great.
The personal-sized pizzas are the best anywhere,  the beer is cheap, and the atmosphere is awesome if you are looking for a dive that knows it's a dive, but could care less.
    Go in packin', and enjoy.

I remember this place from when my Dad lived on Wollaston Beach. I was there again last night with a hot little masseur from Waltham (after a hot little massage, ahem) and realized the secret is in the little something sweet in the crust. My hot masseur POURED red pepper on his half of the smallish "bar pizza," about 8 inches. By then I was over the whole "size matters" thing anyway.

Busy bar with "my people." Tables of kids with other tables of mothers drinking right from the BL bottles. Suspicious looks at my yellow friend.

I truly don't miss living in Massachusetts. I have new people now, praise Buddha.

Just went two nights ago, and the pizza is still awesome. However, the prices have gone significantly up. The basic cheese pizza starts at $6.50 and toppings are $1.00 each. Two "specials" for pizzas -- a Hawaiian (ham and pineapple - why? because that is what everyone in Hawaii eats...uh, NOT.) and 6 topping pizza -- for $9.50. I say the prices have gone up drastically b/c the cheese pizza use to be $3.50 or $4, toppings were also less. But hey, inflation hits everything, even the Alumni.

Still highly recommended but definitely not as much of a bargain as it use to be.

"Alumni rules.  When I was single, I was there so much that they knew me on sight walking in.

I don't think there's a Pembroke location though, correct me if I'm wrong, I'd love to know.

The pizza is bar pizza with a slightly thicker crust.  The toppings are amazing and always very fresh.  Once again (see my Town Spa review), I recommend the "pizza pat" if you're not into grease.  This pizza also heats up great if you bring it home and let it sit for awhile.

I don't get into meat, but my guy friend who lives for meat says the pizza with the several different kinds of meat was even over his meat/grease quota.  And he weighs 360....

I don't generally eat in there/I do take out (I like greenery with my pizza, i.e., a salad, which I don't understand why they don't offer them).  However, when I have eaten there, service is friendly, and I've had the waitress mentioned in the other review.  She treats me, my husband and friends real nice.  Low pizza and booze prices equals we are happy to tip more!

The Alumni is a legend in the pizza world, try it!  I think too many people are into the brick oven thing/have only had Papa Gino's and find anything old school to be threatening!"

UPDATE:  4/1/13 - This is NOT an April Fool's joke, LOL.  The Alumni now is offering even more grease for your pleasure, i.e., mozzarella sticks, wings and some other stuff I can't remember.  They bought a fryolater!  And the pizza is still my favorite ever!

Most Quincy people l know end up going here a lot.  They like the atmosphere (I don't) and they love the pizza (not for me).  I think this place is too dark/dungeonesque and a step back in the early 80s...I don't enjoy this establishment, but others do and that's good for them.  I think there is a bad funk or smell to this place so I'm not a fan.  Go somewhere else.

This place has some GREAT pizza.

It's a great place to go and unwind with some friends, have a few beers and eat some cheap and tasty pizza.

There'a also a location in Pembroke, MA- right at the junction of routes 53 and 139

An unkind reviewer might call the Alumni a dive, but it is well-known and well loved in the Quincy area, especially for its pizza. The cafe has a typical, bar-on-the-right, dining room (six or so booths) on the left layout.

The Alumni serves pizza, and only pizza. It's great 12" bar pizza, medium crust, tasty sauce, loads of toppings. Most of the time, your order is taken by slightly time-worn middle-aged women who must have been something in high school. They will most assuredly call you "Hon".

You don't order a cosmo at the Alumni. You order beer or something with two ingredients. Everything is priced on the low side.

If you go, say hi to my cousin Jack.--fifth stool, right side of the bar.
