Normally, I don't make my way out this far except for exceptional food. Â I will travel for food. Â I love food that much. Â
Wife's office decided to have a post holiday throw down at Aqua Lounge since it was a good central location for a lot of people. Â Here's the skinny on what they have to offer:
Arcade room with Two pool tables: Â Only one works though, but pretty straight sticks and clean felt. Â Darts, a punching bag str game, a bowling arcade game. Â Nice for those who want something quieter and don't want to dance. Â
DJ with a WIDE selection of music: Â Music ranged from 80 hip hop to salsa to 80s lite rock to modern radio top 100. Â The crossover between songs sometimes was mixed well, other time not so much... but overall, good music that you'll at least want to tap your foot to.
Sizable dance floor with lots of flickering lights and strobing effects. Â
A bar with decent selection, and reasonable suburb pricing: Â $3 a bottle of beer, $4.50 for a generous shot of Makers on ice. Â If you open a tab, $15 minimum on credit card.
A bartender who has suburb friendliness, and not downtown snobbery. Â She was cool.
Being a burb scene in Frankfort, sadly the place was pretty much near empty minus our party, even when we left around midnight. Â Staff was cool enough to let us bring in our own food for the party, and a bouncer checked in on us multiple times to see if we needed help with anything.
Verdict: Â I thought I was done with the club scene, so this brought back some memories, minus the overcrowding, unable to move feeling in downtown Chicago. Â Would be a great lounge/hangout if they had more patrons, but we had a good time at the party anyway. Â Didn't try any of the bar food since we brought our own, so no idea how the fare stacks up.
