Place has horrible service and food. Have this place 2 shots but there not getting a 3rd. With so many places on hall rd there's always other choices.

I came here with someone from work while in town.  I ordered the special which I was told was ribs and fried shrimp.  What I received was ribs and fish cut into roughly shrimp shaped pieces.  The barbecue sauce tasted basically like ketchup and the clump of garlic mashed potatoes was tasteless and kept the shape of the scoop that they used.  The service wasn't overly attentive as my glass sat empty for awhile.  In their defense they did ask a couple of times if everything was ok and I didn't speak up.  It was just that nothing I was served led me to believe that I was likely to get anything better if I'd said anything.
I come back to town fairly regularly, but will not be back here.

Go here for happy hour!  Super cheap drinks and half off apps make it a great place to meet peeps.  And the apps are tasty!  I've tried them all, but the Pretzel Bites are where it's at.  The cat's pajamas and the bee's knees, if you will.  Get them.  You're welcome.

I ended up at Aspen with a bunch of co-workers one night and I have been back multiple times since.  Make no mistake this place is a bar and has standard bar food, it has a restaurant side but I have never been.

However two things bring me back to the Aspen:

    1) They have these pretzel bites.  They basically cut up a pretzel, deep fry it, and serve it with honey-mustard.  They are deep fried crack!!  They are one of my guilty pleasures.

    2) Their bar specials are great.   M-F all day they have 99cent drafts and $4 pitchers.  For happy hour (3-6/10-2) they have $2 bottles and $3 wells.   It is like being back in college.

I spent an afternoon here for a baby shower.  We arrived before opening time to set up, and the door was locked...boo!  Anyways, we only had to wait a few minutes back in the car before someone from the kitchen to unlock the door, and even came to our car to apologize and invite us in.

They host a nice private party.  There was a wedding going on in the big private room, so they had just cornered off an area of the main dining room with room dividers.  It gave us enough privacy without feeling too blocked off from the world.  For parties, they let you pick from three selections (selected by the host).  You also get soda/coffee/tea plus they do breadbaskets before your meal.  Having glanced at the special events menu beforehand, I think it's a very fair price (they don't charge for the room, nor do they charge for cake cutting).

Our service was excellent.  From the kitchen staff meeting us at the car, to our incredible waitress, I was impressed.  The waitress managed our party of 26 with ease...much better service than I normally get in private parties.  She kept up with drink refills, checked on our food & even made sure to pay extra attention to the prego one!

The food was very good, but it is just standard Americana.  We had a choice of a coconut chicken salad (coconut chicken over greens with a fruity dressing and fresh fruit), a colorado chicken sandwich (grilled chicken with cheese & honey ham) with fries, or the prime rib sandwich with fries.  The salad seemed to be the real crowd pleaser.  I had the chicken sandwich...the meat was juicy and lean and the tomatoes on top were awesome for the off season.  The prime rib was a little fatty, but hey, that's a common problem with prime rib anywhere.

Would I go out of the way to go here for dinner?  Probably not.  But it's a good choice if you are in the area, and I think it's an excellent option if you are planning a private party and need to stay within budget.

Great bar to mix things up, meaning if your sick of the normal bars this is a great place to go. Cool well stocked bar with Keno. Food is pretty good too, the coconut chicken is good but is great as a next day hang over lunch.

I met my parents here the other night.  I usually loath going to the Hall Road area, but with the holidays, traffic seems to be a lot lighter.

We were planning on using a Groupon that my mom had purchased.  When showing it to the waitress, she militantly gave us a laundry list of items we could NOT use it on.  The daily special, weekly special, happy hour special, etc.  Geeze.  OK, not a huge deal because only a couple of us wanted their special and could use it on regular menu items.  The waitress seemed put off by the fact we had a coupon.  Lighten up, we tip on non-discounted bill total!

We started off with an order of Onion Rings.  They were gigantic.  However, some were perfect in the amount of batter and crispiness and others seemed over-battered and mushy.

I ordered the Tuesday special, All You Can Eat Ribs.  I've had these before and they are quite good.  It comes with fries and side of coleslaw.  The ribs itself and cooked perfectly, very moist.  The sauce is nothing special and could use an upgrade.  What I noticed this time and previous times, is that your second order of ribs (they bring a 1/4 slab each time), it seems that the quality of rib goes down.  The first order appears to be the best of the best cut of ribs.  The next seem to be the scraps that didn't make the first cut.  This time they were cut very poorly, almost look like they were ripped apart by the kitchen.  Also, they were in cut (ripped) in single pieces.  I'm probably nitpicking, but I've noticed this multiple times.  The taste is still good, so it's not a deal breaker and for $9.95 you really can't go wrong.

Other than the waitress appearing to be annoyed of our thriftiness, the service was good.  Drinks were always full and they cleared extra plates immediately.

All in all, it's a decent place to eat.  The place was really busy for a Tuesday.  They seem to have good happy hour drink and food specials, which would be worth another trip to check out.  JUST DON'T USE A GROUPON!!!!!!!

Aspen is one of those places that does some things really well and others not well at all.

For instance: lamb chops - great! Salmon burger - yuck!
Salad - not so bad. Soups - not so good.

It's weird and frustrating and I choose not to aggravate myself so we just don't go anymore.

The service is always decent if not great. Maybe we should just go there to drink since the bar is always busy.

I went here for the first time this afternoon to use a $25 Groupon I bought a while ago.  I walked in and stood in front of the podium as directed by the "Please Wait to be Seated" sign.  An employee of the restaurant was standing in the hallway talking with another patron who was just leaving.  Once her conversation was over, she approached the podium, said, "Hi!", then looked at me expectantly, as if she had no idea why I might be there.
"Just one.  For dinner", I said.
I had looked at their menu online before going and picked out what I wanted to maximize the value of the Groupon.  All that cleaver planning went out the window when I saw the day's special was lamb chops.
6 perfect lamb chops artfully arranged on a pile of crisp onion straws, garlic mashed redskin potatoes, and meatball mushroom soup.  If I weren't such a classy b!tch, I would of picked up those chops and gnawed on them.  Soup was great too.  Potatoes were potatoes, nothing earth shattering there.  The bread basket came with a vegi dip which was a unique touch.  Ice tea was above average.  Service was good.
I'd definitely eat here again.  I probably won't splurge on such a high end meal without having a Groupon, but it looked like they had good burgers and other lower priced items.

Loved this place when it was Garwood.  I have tried it 3-4 times since it's been Aspen with mixed results.  One time the perch was excellent, the next time it was mediocre at best.  It is just too unpredictable for me.  I haven't been there in almost two years with no intentions of returning.

I'm sorry but since when was a pitcher of beer, a rum and coke, a regular coke, and a gigantic quesadilla platter only $12? Where was I? It made absolutely no sense.

    And I loved it.

Although I did not love the selection of people. Beefy, old, boring men. And kind of sketchy girls. Whatever, Wednesday night girls get everything half off. Thats all that matters.

Been here once quite a while ago, and haven't been back since. I just wasn't impressed, it was kinda like a glorified sports bar. The food was fair and the beer was cold so I'll give it a weak three stars.

Have you ever been here?? This place is crazy because you never know what you are going to get... One time it's packed with senior citizens and the heat is cranked so high it feels like you are the next Roister Chicken... Other times it's a laid back spot with everyone playing Keno and tossing back the pitchers watching the games... Okay background infor.. It's a restaurant on one side, has a cabin feel & a gamy menu. Food is good, not outstanding but good. Pre meal bread is good (that goes a long way in my book ha ha) The other side is a set up of a sports bar with the Keno, TVs and busty waitresses... The place always has beer specials for the games, so sometimes it is hard to find a seat. Ages typically here would be mostly males in the 30s.. Aspen is not a bad place, not my first choice or second or third but I will go and have a good time regardless...
