I've been in Fresno for one day, and it's already felt like an eternity. Â There's just bar after bar of shear ordinary. Â That is, until I stumbled upon Club Fred, or Audie Olympic as it says on the store front.
Club Fred is like a Motown social with pool, brews, tattooed patrons, and hula hoop dancing, YES HULA HOOP DANCING. Â Truly a sight to be seen.
I didn't know if it was coincidence, but there just happened to be a gaggle of hoops and a gang of drunken youth who are just AMAZING hula hoop dancers. Â I've only seen that stuff at Colorado music fests, but this shit was hypnotizing. Â
Club Fred feels like a non-exclusive, yet exclusive club in Silver Lake with tons of room to breathe. Â Top notch service, price, patrons and music. Â Sounds like a 5 star bar to me.
Bonus points for the shag carpet on the stage.
Oh Audies. Came here for the first time for Jazz Hop 2/2/12
I liked the walls. Their weekly specials weren't bad either. On Tuesday there is Open Mic Night with $2 drafts. They don't have many beers to choose from but there is quality!! Audies has  Lagunitas!!...One of my faves. It can get pretty pricey too :( So its nice to know now that I can get a draft of it for only $2
Bathrooms were clean. Small stage, cleared area to dance, nice lighting equip.,didn't care to much for the furniture or the layout but I guess now i'm just nagging. :) Its a 21+ establishment, i think. When I went there they checked I.D at the door. All in all I liked this place and would recommend it...If you like loud music.
I'm not from Fresno, but my sister is! She took my husband and myself here a few nights ago to see The Family Wagon, The Strange Vine, and The Stone Foxes. Based on that music line up alone - I love this place. According to my sister, they always have great music line ups.
The building is a great set up. It's super open, with just enough comfy seating (couches and such), tall boys, and plenty of places to sit at the bar. It gets dark but enough light to find your way around. The bathrooms are small but the girls restroom was clean.
The bartenders are really nice. You can get a pitcher of Blue Moon for $14 and it's about 6 glasses full. They have specials on cans once and again.
A great place to hang out with friends, have a few drinks, and listen to great music!
It has been years since I have stepped into the Oly aka Club Fred aka Audie's Olympic Tavern... Â It is just as delicious as I remember... great bands and decent prices and a very welcomed anything goes atmosphere. Â Nestled in the heart of the Tower District with ample samplings of new and local favorite musical offerings. Â Audie's Olympic Tavern aka Club Fred's is one of the only authentic punk underground venues alive in central California. Â If you find yourself in the area, it is worth a stop in. Â Say hello to my favorite bar keep Kevin (KJ) for me!
Review Source:I love this venue! Great sound, setting and people. The staff is all friendly and the drinks are always stiff and never overpriced even for topshelf. This is an awesome live music venue and a must see in the Tower...you will find it a hop skip and jump away from the "pack" of most places n the tower...just keep walking and you will eventually see the neon lights beckoning your attention. The people are always nice and I always have a good time. Tip the Bartender well!!!
Review Source:I like to watch bands play here. Bar drinks are not too pricey...Typical. Â Only bummer is when there was a cover charge for a show and I was already in the bar, Ive been kicked out and made to stand in line to re-enter... That was odd. Bartenders are attentive and friendly. There are a couple couches as well as tables/chairs from which to enjoy the show, and a small area in front of stage for those who wish to dance. Cheers!
