Great Pizza, Good Vibes, Average Beer Selection.
I love their Deluxe Pizza. Top 3 in Terre Haute. Their Stromboli is AWESOME! Most of their food is better than typical bar/pub food.
Try going when it is not so packed with the college scene. I used to be that scene, but at 35 years old, I am digging the quiet bar scene on a Wednesday evening when I can have my pizza and beer and maybe join a few friends.
Their beer selection is average at best. Now, 90% of their customer base is poor college kids so Busch Light and Keystone Light are their bread and butter.
They do offer some decent bottled beer, but I wish they carried more Indiana craft beer. That is my only gripe. The waitstaff is friendly and the place is always clean. Just typing this is making me hungry for a few slices of their pizza, but it's Lent and I cannot have meat on Fridays.
Check them out, you won't be sorry you did.
I went to the Ballyhoo early, as to avoid the crowd of drunken 21 year olds. Upon arriving we sat outside. It was a beautiful night! We sat out there for some time until we asked a couple sitting next to us if they had to go inside to get drinks. They informed usable did. I wish we were told that when I told the bartender we were going outside.
I asked for a Blue Moon. She looked at me strange and then said they didn't carry that (upon going in later for another drink I noticed Blue Moon was stocked in the fridge...). Â I asked if they carried Gumball Head. She then giggled and said she had never heard of that beer (even though I had just came from the Copper Bar down the street where it was served on tap). I then asked if they carried a Cider Beer. She said "I want to say yea, but no.". Interesting. I, then confused and frustrated, simply got a mixed drink special for $3.
We ordered a pizza that was BBQ and sausage. After all of the friends I've had that rave about this pizza I needed to try it. It came out a little while later delivered to the wrong table. We had to flag the waiter down and let him know it was ours. The pizza was alright... Crust was a bit too thin for my liking.
Overall, when there are approximately 6 people total in the bar there is no excuse for poor wait staff. Additionally, I would recommend that bartenders learn their products.... Or look around to be sure they have the beer or not.
Pizza is a thin crust but not the thin crunchy variety. The taste was okay, prices were a little better then average and the service was fine.
However it's mainly a bar with a pizza delivery joint in the rear. If you go to pick up, go to back northwest door that is unmarked.
This might be a better experience as a delivery.
I went to the BallyHoo to meet some friends. . . They didn't show up. Â I ordered a small pep/saug/onion pizza. Â The pizza arrived rather quickly, was piping hot and very tasty.
The topping went to the edge along with the sauce and the cheese. Â The crust was light and airy. Â Not the dense premade/frozen taste that others in town have. Â
While I am not a bar person per sae, I will be visiting this establishment again due to the excellent pizza. Â In my opinion, the best pizza in town that I have tried.
