To tell you the truth I'm surprised to see Bar Louie has such a low average. In fact, part of me wants to give them four stars to try and help bump it up, but do I think it's the bees knees as far as restaurants or bars go? No way, Jose. However, I would definitely go back here again for a pre-movie meal in the area for the following reasons:
+ A fairly large selection of beer, even a few local brews which is almost unheard of in places like this.
+ A decent selection of wine, including sparkling wine by the glass.
+ A menu that probably offers something for everyone. And while it isn't revolutionary, the food was fine.
+ Quick, friendly service.
+ A seriously large bar area and a seriously large dining area, but not overwhelmingly so.
+ Plenty of happy hour deals and nightly specials.
Sure, there were a group of bros ordering shots (Shots! Shots! Shots! Shots! Shots! E'erybdy!) and watching some sporting event, but I barely even noticed them thanks to the spacious quality of the place. And the guy next to me at the bar was flying solo and reading a book. So there was a balance. And I liked it.
The happy hour specials here are ok...nothing terribly exciting to rush over for, but I do happen to like their tickled pink and diva martinis, so I will lean towards the three star mark.
Went here the other night for dinner with a couple of friends and ordered food for the first time. We had a trio of queso/salsa/guac with chips to start off with. No bueno my friends. The queso was the only good part of this. The salsa tasted like marinara sauce and the guac...well...no taste.
I also ordered the mac and cheese (which I've heard so many people rave about) with broccoli and again, no taste. I even loaded it up with salt. Still. No taste.
it has a fun atmosphere, and I will probably return for the martinis, but no hankering for any of the food there.
The food is good, and it would be perfect for watching football, but they will only play audio for the home team games (so Broncos only). The rest of the time you are forced to listen to crappy music, even during Sunday night and Monday night games if the broncos aren't playing. I can't stand that and would rather watch it at home. Why go trough the trouble to offer happy hours and game time deals if you're going to ruin the experience with bad music? If customers want to hear the games, mgmt shouldn't be so inflexible.
